Believe it or not, we made it all the way to 640 episodes without ever looking at the Ten Commandments. With states requiring they be posted in classrooms, we thought we ought to take a look at how effective the commandments are in living a moral and/or ethical life. There are, of course, many versions of the commandments so we picked one. And a version they use for kids that is actually a lot better than the biblical ones! Also, we get the chance to answer five questions for the first time in a while!

This week’s episode takes a look at the rise of Christofacism in America. It started before the 1980’s but everyone’s favorite President got that thing going and – well – here we are. Guest Jeff Grapevine joins us to discuss the growth of the Christian right as a political movement in the US.

Time for some fun! Nick put together a bracket of 32 different Halloween treats and we debate which ones are the best! One by one, inferior contestants are relegated to the “trade” pile until a final victor is crowned! Will you agree with our ultimate choice or will you flip tables in sugar fueled rage?

This week is the deadline for voting pre registration in Minnesota so it seems like a good time to talk about voting and why we still do it and think it is important. One of our favorite guests returns! Ronn Bauman is back to tell us about his experience at The Ark Encounter where we learn all about how Noah’s Ark is actually possible and what dinosaurs were on the ark. There is, of course, biblical evidence to back all of this up (no there isn’t)! Ronn also catches us up on other parts of his life, including his mom making poor life choices!

This week we take a look at Mental Health issues and specifically OCD with our friend Jen Rogachevsky. We all have a lot of misconceptions around mental health and OCD is often used as a punchline by those who don’t really understand how difficult it can be to live with the symptoms. This episode is a great opportunity to understand the challenges people with OCD and other mental health issues face on a regular basis. We want to give a big thank you to Jen for being willing to talk about it.

This week, we are joined by one of our favorite guests as Tony Miller returns to talk about the Tolerance Paradox. The question before us is does being tolerant of intolerable opinions actually help or does it do more damage? It’s about a lot more than just punching Nazis. Which is totally OK, by the way.

This week we are joined by our friend Fes Works to talk about his journey from Catholicism all the way to antitheism. As with several of our ex Catholic listeners (and hosts), he had a stop at Paganism on the way! It’s always nice to listen to how people arrive at their non belief because it reminds us we aren’t alone.

This week, we are joined by our friend Maren Aalgaard who has something in common with Nick! Both of them have parents who came out as gay while they were growing up. We talk about that experience and how it shaped the two of them.
