One of our favorite guests returns! Ronn Bauman is back to tell us about his experience at The Ark Encounter where we learn all about how Noah’s Ark is actually possible and what dinosaurs were on the ark. There is, of course, biblical evidence to back all of this up (no there isn’t)! Ronn also catches us up on other parts of his life, including his mom making poor life choices!
This week we take a look at Mental Health issues and specifically OCD with our friend Jen Rogachevsky. We all have a lot of misconceptions around mental health and OCD is often used as a punchline by those who don’t really understand how difficult it can be to live with the symptoms. This episode is a great opportunity to understand the challenges people with OCD and other mental health issues face on a regular basis. We want to give a big thank you to Jen for being willing to talk about it.
This week, we are joined by one of our favorite guests as Tony Miller returns to talk about the Tolerance Paradox. The question before us is does being tolerant of intolerable opinions actually help or does it do more damage? It’s about a lot more than just punching Nazis. Which is totally OK, by the way.
This week we are joined by our friend Fes Works to talk about his journey from Catholicism all the way to antitheism. As with several of our ex Catholic listeners (and hosts), he had a stop at Paganism on the way! It’s always nice to listen to how people arrive at their non belief because it reminds us we aren’t alone.
This week, we are joined by our friend Maren Aalgaard who has something in common with Nick! Both of them have parents who came out as gay while they were growing up. We talk about that experience and how it shaped the two of them.
This week we take a look at the most recent Star Wars series to hit Disney Plus – The Acolyte! There will be all sorts of spoilers and while the show doesn’t have a lot of very deep secrets, if you’d like to find them out for yourself, be warned! We are a little bit split on our opinion of the show but we actually waited to watch the show before we reviewed it, unlike several people on Rottentomatoes.
There will be spoilers a-plenty as we discuss the movie that officially makes Deadpool and Wolverine part of the MCU! Does Disney ruin Deadpool? You will have to watch the film to find out! Or you could listen to this episode but maybe you should watch the movie first.
Two weeks ago, we posted an episode recorded right after someone took a shot at Donald Trump and by the time the episode aired, the news was woefully out of date. Well we are trying it again! We are specifically looking at some news items that popped up seemingly as a direct result of Kamala Harris entering the race for US President after Joe Biden stepped down! How current is it? Find out!
It’s time for another episode of Geeky Boners! For those new to the podcast, our Geeky Boner episodes allow us to talk about whatever cool things have excited at the moment. This week, we take a look at a TV show that is as old as Tim is as well as some physical media Molly is trying to preserve. Nick also got a new birthday present he’s very excited to talk about!
This week we talk about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump (or whatever that was). More importantly, we talk about the question of whether or not it is OK to make jokes about that event. Apparently Jack Black doesn’t think so. We aren’t sure we agree so we talk about what makes it OK to joke about something. Also please note: We recorded this a week ago and a LOT OF STUFF has gone down since then. So some of what we talk about is already out of date. So ignore the stuff about Biden, you know?
And if you want to make jokes about Biden quitting or about us talking about him on a podcast that went up two days after he quit, we are totally OK with that.
Also please note: The tragedy we refer to in the title is the breakup of Tenacious D over a joke.
