We’ve been paying a lot of attention to CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths Arrowverse Crossover. Now that the series is at its halfway point, Seth and Train review the series so far and match the story up with their previous predictions. Plus, Train goes on a bit of a soapbox rant about how Batman has been depicted over the years.

Crisis On Infinite Earths was a 12-issue mini-series published by DC Comics in 1985 as part of the company’s 50th Anniversary. It was designed to streamline the continuity and create a new starting point for potential new readers. Nowadays, this would simply be called a reboot or a relaunch, and wouldn’t even cause fans to blink. But in 1985, it was unheard of to restart an entire comic universe.

SPOILER NOTE: While we will be talking primarily the original comic series, much of the plot be the same. This means that much of what we talk about could very well come to play in the TV adaption. November 1963 – The first episode of Doctor Who aired, beginning the legacy of a sci-fi epic that is still going strong 56 years later.

However, many fans do not know that the first episode was not the one originally produced. The original version did not go well with producer Sydney Newman, so it was tweaked and refilmed into the version that was seen by 10 million viewers.

Seth aka Zandrax sits down at our first ever live commentary recording to talk about the differences between the two versions. While the cosmetic differences were minor, the overall mood of the episode was very different. See a much darker and angrier Doctor along with a more mysterious Susan Foreman as they are introduced to the original companions Ian and Barbara.

(1:55) Kevin Feige to produce a Star Wars film

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story last week that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will develop a new Star Wars movie. It certainly could be in response to the Sequel Trilogy fan reception, especially The Last Jedi. And, of course, the underwhelming performance of Solo. Given Feige’s track record with the Marvel films, it seems like a natural pairing.

With the deal being so new, it’s way too early to expect what the premise of the film will be. It is also not clear whether this will simply be one film or the first of many.

When Disney purchased LucasFilm and announced new Star Wars projects, fans speculated that this could be another multiple-movie franchise with standalone stories outside of the sequel films. Much like how Marvel Studios handled the MCU. One of the most appealing things about the MCU was how all the films were connected in some way, and how the Avengers movies utilized characters from them.

Likewise, one of the biggest criticisms of the new Star Wars films has been the lack of consistency. One of the reasons Colin Trevorrow left Episode IX was because his story heavily featured Luke Skywalker. So when Luke died in The Last Jedi, it made Trevorrow’s story useless.

(17:15) Disney and Sony will team up for a new Spider-Man movie

After seemingly ending their partnership earlier this month, Sony and Disney have reconciled to make another MCU Spider-Man movie. The deal is reportedly one standalone Spider-Man movie, and one appearance in another MCU movie, such as Avengers 5.

This does not guarantee that the Sony/Disney partnership will be long term. It’s very possible, although merely speculated, that this will allow an onscreen reason for Spider-Man to break away and continue in Sony’s own movies with no further connection to the MCU.
