  • Sallyanne Flemons
    As a freelancer for over 20 years, Sallyanne Flemons has directed her passion for culture and nature by helping numerous organisations engage thousands of people with culture and sustainability. She has managed the Family Explorers North East project since 2013 which now has 11,000+ participating families. She’s also Ambassador for the North East Family Arts Network and Communications Director for participatory art project Wunderbar (Bobby Baker’s Great & Tiny War, #MLK1967 with Jeremy Deller, Joshua Sofaer’s Opera Helps). She wrote the first communications strategy for Creative People and Places project, Bait, won three awards for Annual Reviews edited for the Woodland Trust and in 2000 co-wrote The Green Print Handbook, recommended reading at the time by Friends of the Earth.

  • Iles Tours
    Alex Iles is the owner of Iles Tours a UK tour company that brings amazing places to life with unforgettable walking tours - telling you the stories of the North East of England! The company was founded on the 9th of March in 2013.
    He remembers standing at Grey’s Monument and asking if people wanted to join a tour! Since then he has developed thirteen different tours of the region.

  • Mhairi Ledgerwood- Playwright

    Mhairi Ledgerwood is a Scottish playwright based in the North-East of England. 

    She has had several short plays performed at venues such as The Traverse, Live Theatre, Alphabetti Theatre, and Jabberwocky Market. Her one-act play White Noise was performed at ARC Stockton in 2015 as a rehearsed reading, following mentoring by Bruntwood Prize winner Vivienne Franzmann.

     Her play Parklife started as a short play at Live Theatre, before being developed for Live Theatre’s Live Lab Elevator Festival in 2017. In 2018, Mhairi's play Paper Tiger was given a rehearsed reading at The Royal Court and Northern Stage, following a development process through The Royal Court Writers Group (North). Paper Tiger was shortlisted for Theatre 503’s International Playwriting Award 2020. 

    Mhairi was shortlisted for The Pentabus Writer in Residence award and long-listed for Box Of Tricks and Sky Studios Screen/Play award. 

    She is currently developing a play about the first British women to compete at the Olympics for swimming, which is supported by a bursary from Live Theatre.

  • Wayne Miller- Artist/Actor/Writer/Director
    *Please note this episode contains mild language that some listeners may take offense to*
    Wayne began his training at South Tyneside College in Performing Arts, before moving on to Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead. 
    Upon leaving Theatre School he returned to his native North East to work with ‘Boyle Yer Stott’s Productions’. With Boyle Yer Stotts, Wayne performed in many of their critically acclaimed productions for over a decade. While working as an actor in a variety of stage & TV work, he also added writing & directing to his list of credits, many of them as an in house writer and director of children's theatre at The Customs House in South Shields. 
    This is something that he carried over into his own company ‘Walton-Gunn Productions’, a home town based theatre company, that produces multiple pantomime & children’s productions every year, alongside new writing projects.  
    His Theatre credits include: The Machine Gunners, Dangle In The Dust, Cuddy’s Miles,Ride A White Swan, Tom & Catherine:The Musical, Hamlet, Pray For Rain, Bored Stiff, Love In NE32, Romeo & Juliet,Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather, Hadaway Harry, Being An Ultimate Warrior and The Big Time.  His Film and TV credits include: Two series of ITV Real Crimes and the gangster film in which he bares all Six Bend Trap

  • Elliott Wallis- Artistic Director of SE Theatre Company

    Elliott trained with the Year Out Drama Company (YOD) in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2013/14. He is the resident Music Director and Sound Designer for Tread the Boards Theatre Company (TTB), based at the Attic Theatre in Stratford, and co-Artistic Director of SE Theatre Company which is devoted to exploring new writing and interpreting classic and contemporary plays for a modern audience.

    Meg Muir is a self-employed folk artist that specialises in exclusive art on Dartington crystal, professionally framed mirrors bespoke art for all gifting occasions. Commissions are taken to personalise gifts such as gin, wine, whisky sets, prosecco, decanters and vases and candle holders.


    She also creates botanical art on sea glass which is created into beautiful and unique jewellery.
