800 million people around the world rely on subsistence fishing for a living. Devleena Bhattacharjee discusses how her company, Numer8, uses satellite information, open data, and analytics to help subsistence fishing communities more accurately locate fish in real-time, so they spend less time at risk in the open sea, less money on fuel, and improve their catch.

Dr. Nachshon (Sean) Goltz and Dr. John Zeleznikow join me to discuss the ethics of artificial intelligence:
Why it is important to understand how AI makes life and death decisions (such as autonomous cars navigating a busy street for example, or supply chain AI allocating scarce medicines to patients)
What happens when the AI makes a life and death decision different than the one we we would make personally?
We discuss the Trolley Car problem, which postulates that a trolley car is travelling uncontrollably and will kill one of two groups of people. How should the trolley (i.e. autonomous car, supply chain AI agent) decide which group lives and which dies? Would you make a different choice?
How does the Jewish tradition approach this question? How does the Holocaust inform how autonomous cars might make this decision?
Dr. Nachshon (Sean Goltz) is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia . You can connect with Sean at his University (https://www.ecu.edu.au/schools/business-and-law/faculty/profiles/senior-lecturer/dr-nachshon-sean-goltz) or on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/nachshon-sean-goltz-b93744132/).

Thank you for listening to the first four episodes! This short bonus episode gives a quick update on metrics, and also announces an "Ask Me Anything" opportunity (AMA). Have a question on technology? What is 5G? How does edge compute benefit me? How do I think about adding AI to my OEM product?

Dr. Tracey Dowdeswell discusses how Artificially Intelligent agents are evolving to the point that they will soon acquire legal personas. Just like Corporations are legal entities, AI agents also will soon acquire legal entity status, so that you can interact with them, negotiate and sign contracts with them, and also sue for damages.
She describes the current thought on the 4 potential legal personas an Artificially Intelligent agent might acquire.
Dr. Dowdeswell is Professor of Criminology at Douglas College in British Columbia, Canada. You may connect with her here.
