As a church, it is time to step up and truly represent Christ in the world. Just like a sweet fragrance, our lives have the power to impact heaven and earth through our lifestyle, worship, integrity, and service. Let us embrace the call to bold prayer and discover the liberating freedom found only in a relationship with Jesus.
The church is made up of people with different backgrounds, cultures, and preferences. This means there will be different opinions on non-essential matters like worship styles or church practices, and that’s okay. The key is to remember that these differences are secondary to our shared identity in Christ. We need different people with different preferences and gifts working together in harmony in the church. We must not forget that our primary identity is in Christ.
Baptism is not just a tradition but a powerful symbol of starting a new life in Christianity. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you are transformed into a new person! Baptism is a public celebration that your old life is gone and your new life has begun. This means saying goodbye to the stain of sin and hello to new life in Jesus.
The Corinthian Church had many issues when Paul wrote 1 Corinthians. He wrote this letter to help them with their struggles and confusion, but God also inspired these words to help us with our present-day struggles and confusion. Through this letter, we see the significance of being chosen and set apart by God, the importance of recognizing and using the gifts God has given us, and the balance between faith, works, and grace.
When we are against all odds, don’t understand what is happening, or have been in the lion’s den for a long time, how can we trust God? We know we can trust God because He is faithful. We see this in the life of Daniel. He continually puts his trust in God and shows us that when we trust God, we can obey Him, trust His timing, and display His power.
Christmas is not just about the festivities or the gifts under the tree. It’s about something much deeper – the gift of Jesus Himself, the ultimate expression of love for a world in need. At Christmas, we celebrate that Jesus Christ was born into the world as the greatest gift ever given in the history of the world. His love is the heartbeat of our faith, the source of our strength, and the catalyst for our love towards others. Whether you’ve known this love for years or are just encountering it for the first time, this sermon invites you to dive deeper into the vast, unending love of Jesus Christ.
How can we be filled with joy when we constantly face disappointment, frustration, loss, and fear? The key is proper perspective. When you look at how good God is, how great your rescue was, and how big your blessings are, you can always have joy, even when hardship pops up. Remember that your problems are minor and temporary compared to the glory before us that lasts for eternity. Joy flows from that proper perspective. And it’s this joy that fuels our praise, our pursuit, our witness, our generosity, and our strength.
We may know Jesus as the Prince of Peace, but we still find ourselves caught in conflicts — with others, the world around us, and within our own hearts. But if we want to experience peace, true peace, we need to embrace Jesus — the one who secures peace, the one who calms the inner and outer turmoil. It’s not about escaping life’s storms but finding peace amidst them.
We may not know what the future holds, but we know God because He has revealed himself in the person of Jesus. This means that whatever we go through, we have hope because we have the promise of God. So whether you’re mourning the loss of a loved one, the end of a marriage, a child who’s turned away from God, or you’re overwhelmed about what’s happening in the world, let this advent season remind you that, as Christians, we always have hope.
In the story of Gideon, we learn that victory is achievable despite overwhelming odds when guided by faith and the Holy Spirit. Even when faced with the complexities of fear, including worry, stress, anxiety, and fear itself, overcoming these challenges is possible through faith and trust in God. We are ultimately reminded that our role is to trust in the Lord, for God is the one who will win our battles.
