GJ youth will have the opportunity to hear the lived experiences of elders who have dedicated their lives to social justice activism in our city and share their audio histories with you.

We will be speaking with Luzero Velasquez, a 19-year-old GJ member who recently finished a year long immersive training on Indigenous healing in Cuernavaca, Mexico. We will hear from Farah Nousheen who is a UNM academic advisor and founder of “Yoga for People of Color for Healing and Empowerment," they will share with us where they go in search of peace and love. As always, our music translates the messages of healing, peace, and empowerment.

The nuclear waste storage and management company, Holtec International has plans to implement a nuclear waste storage facility near Carlsbad and Hobbs New Mexico. This week, Leona Morgan and Eileen Shaughnessy of the Nuclear Issues Study Group, are two environmental justice activists and organizers who are working towards keeping Holtec and other nuclear waste out of New Mexico and the surrounding areas.
