  • Andrew Hart - Dent Reality

In this episode Ed chats with Andrew Hart, founder of indoor AR platform Dent Reality. Dent Reality is applying cutting-edge augmented reality technology to the world of retail. Andrew spoke at the January 2020 Geomob London, and showed off some videos of their product. At Geomob over the last few years we've seen several different approaches to indoor mapping, and this is one with the most immediate "wow" effect. Andrew tells us their story, discusses some of the many challenges they are tackling, and comments on the state of fast-moving spaces of AR and indoor navigation in general.

  • Ian Watt - Code the City
This week we're breaking with our normal weekly publishing schedule to put out a second episode. We wanted to make listeners aware of a geo focused hack weekend taking place on November 28-29. The event is being organized by Ian Watt of Aberdeen's Code the City, a civic hacking organization. The event is open to all, and will take place online. Besides the specifics of the November event, the discussion also touches on Ian's experience working on open data in Scotland. Ian diplomatically avoids taking a firm position on the issue of Shetland boxing

  • Jeremy Morley - OSMGB and Ordnance Survey Research
Steven catches up with old friend Jeremy Morley, Chief Geospatial Scientist at the UK's Ordnance Survey. The two first reflect on the evolution of the open geo scene in the UK over the last decade or so (memories that will bring a smile to anyone who fought in the neo v paleo geo wars). The thrust of the conversation is looking back on the OSMGB project in which both were deeply involved. OSMGB was an attempt (together with industry partners like 1spatial to develop an authoritative platform to validate and quality check OpenStreetMap data and thus accelerate adoption of OSM by business and local government. Jeremy and Steve discuss lessons learned, and what the lasting legacy of the effort has been. Finally, Jeremy shares details of and fascinating examples from his current role at the Ordnance Survey, where he heads up their research efforts.

  • Abigail Page - GeoCom20
This week Ed talks with Abigail Page, who is chair of GeoCommunity 2020, the annual event of the AGI (the UK's Association for Geographic Information). This year's event will be online from November 17-19th, with the theme of "Sustainable (R)Evolution", and is open to anyone (including attendees from outside the UK) and is completely free to attend. The format is an interesting one, with lots of time and emphasis on mixing and mingling, and we encourage all Geomobsters to attend. Likewise we hope GeoCom20 attendees will find their way to our Nov 17th Geomob. Abi has a long and diverse history in the geo industry, and is now Head of Innovation & Skills at the UK's Geospatial Commission
