Today, and this week on Perry and Shawna Mornings, our struggle is not against human beings, it’s against the sinful nature within and an unseen evil enemy without.  And Jesus gives us everything we need to stand and win! 

So first, the sin in our lives keeps us from being who we really are:  Image bearers of God.  So as we sin less God’s image shines more clearly.  But it’s a battle.  In the battle we must deal with the sin in our lives.  If you’re are trapped in a sin and it’s a secret, bring it into the light; share it with a trusted friend!  And don’t fear coming into the light because God is for you!  He has made you to shine!  Then every morning before work, Perry sits down in front of the space heater in his walk-in closet and he puts on the armor of God.  He knows we’re in war with an unseen enemy.  It’s a war between the truth that God loves us and the lie that he doesn’t.  And the battlefield is the mind.  But the armor of God protects us!  Perry and Shawna have a conversation about each piece of armor in Ephesians 6 and how each piece points to the gospel and protects us from our unseen enemy. 

Then Perry and Shawna riff on 1 Peter 5:8-9:  Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.  Check out Perry’s wall of fire experience when he was being pushed down by the enemy!  And finally, in this battle we all have weaknesses, places where we’re susceptible to the enemy. Shawna’s is feeling like she not enough.  Know what your weaknesses are.   Find the scriptures that speak truth over the lies and memorize them!  Put a plan in play to  steer clear of places that are tempting for you.  Stand!
