Not exactly what i expected

I went in knowing very little about the actual Sherlock Holmes stories aside from what i've seen on TV/movies and i'm not really sure how i feel. I was confused about the transition from Holmes to the killer's point of view but that could have been more from me being distracted. I don't know, the jury is still out but i didn't hate it so a solid three stars, maybe four if i re-listen and pick up on things i missed.

This was excellently narrated by Daniel Wayman and the story line was excellent to.

Ralph Cosham...The best READER ever!

I love Sherlock Holmes....have read and reread for years. Even enjoy the newer tv versions...I know every story by heart, BUT it is Ralph Cosham's voice which makes this so awesome.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I already know every story!

What about Ralph Coshams performance did you like?

I love his British accent and you can still understand every word! I am an avid audio book listener so the reader is important to me! Instead of looking for books by my favorite authors, I have been searching and listening to anything that lists him as the reader, unfortunately I wish there were many more :(

Ralph Cosham delivers a brilliant Sherlock Holmes

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook if you are into good clean literature. Its well read and the stories aren't linear and predictable.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The characters are varied, and the humanity and brilliance of Sherlock never leaves you feeling bored or uninterested. To come up with such an imaginative characters and story lines deserves the title of Sir, Arthur Conan Doyle.

What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Cosham varies the characters without annoying over exaggerating, its subtle that the narration is still a uniform style, without being monotonous. I love and respect Charlton Griffin's narrations of history.

FANTATSTIC PERFECT COLLECTION

As I have the full collection of this super series, I must say yet again that these are fantastic radio productions, a great pleasure to listen to when ever the Sherlock mood strikes and for me, this can be 24/7 and I never tire of enjoying them.

Clive and Michael are perfect together, their timing is spot on and you know the actors were having as much fun recording this full length series as we the listener feel privileged to hear and enjoy over and over and over .......

I would feel desolate should I not have these, I love them that much.

I honestly don't own that many even though I really enjoy them. Judith does a a really good job ...

Ok let's see,first off I am friends with the author. But I actually didn't realize that for a long time. I had bought this before I got to know her. When she mentioned her book it sounded familiar but I still didn't make the connection. Then when I went to take a look I was very surprised to see it was something I already purchased. Now I am very picky about my detective, mystery novels. I honestly don't own that many even though I really enjoy them. Judith does a a really good job writing. There is just enough suspense to keep you interested without frustrating you. I could easily picture the characters in my mind. Especially his grandmother! Talk about a character, lol. She's a dear and much sharper than she let's on. I enjoyed it so much I bought the next two and can't wait to see the next. And in no way did the author influence me,she asked only for an honest review and I'm honored to do that! Great book a must read!

I loved the 40"s (even though I was only a baby) ...

I have never been a big fan of mystery novels but I immediately became a fan of Sam Flanagan. I loved the 40"s (even though I was only a baby) and I love the fact that this book proves that one can write a good book, without including smut, makes me love it that much more. I have started the second book in this series (Sins of the Father) and I am already getting anxious to know what happens. My feeling is that each book will get better and better as we are introduced to more of Sam's family and cases. Hope there will be a 5th book soon.

No persecution reading this, a real treat.

Andriacco has written a superb short story totally faithful to the Watsonian tradition of Sherlock Holmes adventures. The plot is complex for such a short piece but remains very clean and concise moving along rapidly to a surprising conclusion. The author packs a great deal into a few pages without cluttering up the action. The characters are well defined, ones feels like you know them and understand their plight. Holmes and Watson are beautifully rendered as if Doyle himself was supervising the writing. What can I say, if I were reading it on the subway I would miss my stop.

Not worth the cost

Holmes seems much wordier here than usual. There's very little of the atmosphere you might expect. Worst of all, this is a SHORT STORY, folks and not a book, so beware. You get what you pay for.

Excellent story, faithful to the tradition.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the title taken from a throwaway line in the canon. The characters are believable, the dialogue is superb and the plot shows vigor and imagination. The short story follows the basic framework of the classic Conan Doyle plot, starting with a domestic scene in 221B and ending with plot resolution and Watson being astounded (once again) by Holmes' mental dexterity; a very satisfying read.

Very well written Sherlock Holmes pastiche.

This pastiche was very well written and conceived. A good mystery that very well could have come from the pen of Conan Doyle. A quick, enjoyable read for any Holmes aficionado.

A new Sherlock Holmes story

Great fun! Dan Andriacco has woven many elements of the Holmes stories together to create a new tale very much in the Holmesian style. Sure to appeal to fans of Sherlock Holmes!
