The first two Freek books seemed like isolated tales of psychic daring-do and murder. They were both a blast. But in this book a larger puzzle begins to emerge from very first pages. Were the two tales really as isolated as they seemed? The mystery that the Freeks unravel in this third book runs deeper, and the stakes become higher. Moving the locale from New England to Florida allows the author to explore some very interesting settings indeed (as a central Florida resident, I found it a little unsettling to know exactly where one of the bodies was deposited!). The only problem with this book is that I want the next one sooner rather than later!

FreeK Week, best book by this author.....so far.

Just as fascinating as the first two books in the "FreeK" series by Steve Burt. It keeps you interested to the end. No, I will not say anything to give it away, you have to buy it yourself and read it cover to cover. A very compelling book, by a wonderful author. "FreeK Week" will keep your attention until the end. But, then again, so do every one of his nine books (so far). "FreeK Week" is a wicked awesome read. Keep them coming, the books that is. Well written and worthy of praise (And this is the worst I can say about the book).

Steve Burt has done it again. His third and possibly best book so far follows the further adventures of the FreeKs , this time while visiting Central Florida. The book is filled with mystery, suspense, and of course the paranormal. Using real life landmarks such as Cassadaga, the psychic capital of the world, the FreeKs are plunged into a spooky and frightening journey of murder and survival. The ending leaves you wanting more.

Great series.

This story picks up with a twist where book one left off. Julia is no longer the sheltered teen. Now she is mixing with others even as her powers grow. She looks at her world through new eyes and doesnât always like what she sees. A new and stronger Julia is emerging; one who asks questions and doesnât take half-answers kindly.

All the special children are now becoming adults and with that change comes surprising alterations in attitude. Sebastian is still challenging Nic for Julia, but he has altered, or is it how Julia now sees him?

Why Claude had an interest in the special children is opened up just a little. A tantalizing look into a section of what happened and then a glimpse of what could be is all Julia has in her quest for the truth. Aside from her origins, she needs to know if there will be consequences from marketing Claudeâs elixir of anti-aging to the general public. The perfect world is developing very serious flaws.

The pace is electric and now I must wait for the next book to come out.

Pure chocolate for the reader's soul!

There is this easiness in Katie St. Claireâs writing style that I adore. So no wonder I lost myself in the story, enjoying meeting the old friends and allowing myself to hook so badly I reached the last page in no timeâ

The launch of Immortality is getting close but Julia has her doubts about the product. Things are getting complicated with Nic, and the discoveries about Sebastian are not helping with Julia trying to solve her feelings. Sheâs not as nave as she used to be and her eyes are opening with a rush. Even though sheâs more mature thereâs this certain young girl vulnerability in her that makes her so different from the others.

Katie St. Claire sure knows how to awaken strong emotions in reader, wrapping them around her talented finger and leaving them hunger for more. I donât want to reveal too much but I have to say that even though Iâve liked Nic from the beginning, Iâm SO on team Sebastian! Oh, wow!

Katie St. Claireâs words are pure chocolate for my soul! And I promise, I will be reading whatever she writes in the futureâeven the phonebook if it comes to that!

Very good, can't wait for part 3 coming out this fall. I got the first book for free and had to continue with the story of Julia.

Another Must Read!!

I really loved book #1, Second Hand Stops, so I needed to read this book to have my questions answered. Again this is not in my normal range of what I read, but I liked the description. I like to read whatever I can get my hands on.

Julia is so full of spirit and full of questions for those around her. She is definitely curious.

Awesome

I love this series. I fell in love with the characters right away. I read it in two days! I can't wait for the next one to come out!

A good story.

Did I enjoy this book: This book was like chatting with an old friend. We are once again allowed to peek into Melissaâs journal and see what has been going on in her life. Sheâs had some excitement and learned a few things as well. It was nice catching up with Melissa.

Would I recommend it: If you read the first 3 books and you want to see what happens next, then yes, read TTYL.

A wonderful read

I couldn't wait to read this book. Melissa's story took a turn I was waiting for. I did not put this book down until I was finished. This series is a must read for all young adults, as well as everyone else. A great story about life's struggles, finding yourself, and perseverance through it all.

This was a great book!

This was a great book! I usually can't stay focused long enough to finish books. but this one was good enough to keep my attention. Can't wait to reread with my 4 year old. He loves superheroes and I think he will really enjoy me reading this to him.

Different ending in hardcover vs. paperback

Update: The publishing house says the authors originally intended the book to be finished at Chapter 19, and the book was revised after a lot of people noted the abruptness of the end. The online and recent paperback versions have the extra chapters and epilogue. I hope people will read that version instead - it's much better!

There are a number of reviews that mention the lack of ending - here's why it stops so abruptly: it's a mass produced printing error! I bought the same print book twice only to find the same problem with both copies. I finished the book online and it's NOT over after Chapter 19, there are quite a few more chapters as well as an epilogue. It's too bad, too, because the story is actually really pretty satisfying. I don't know if there is a way to notify the authors of this error, because it's a shame for people to think the book is subpar due to something beyond their control. Maybe LinkedIn or the publishers' website?

No ending!

How frustrating! Not even an attempt at a climax! No way would I ever read another book by these cheaters!

This book sucked me in a lot more than I thought it was going to

MAPMAKER is a young adult mystery and suspense novel about Tanya, a high schooler who has a genius sense of direction. Her father died before the book started, during a frenzy of mapping the entire world. At the start of MAPMAKER, Tanya gets an internship at MapOut --- the company owned by her father and his best friend --- for the summer. This story follows Tanya as she works to clear up the mysteries surrounding MapOut and her father. Romance, adventure, mystery and suspense ensue!

This book sucked me in a lot more than I thought it was going to. I found myself reading it very fast, but in the end I was not extremely satisfied with how things wrapped up. I expected it to be fast-paced, but it was just a little too short. I felt like it was over before it began. I liked Tanya, as she was very intelligent and I agreed with her decisions for the most part. The plot was pretty realistic until we got the explanation; it didnât really fit the direction of the story. I think it lacked the natural flow that makes a novel great. The book doesnât really fit in its genre either. I wasnât even sure what it was going for until I looked it up. I do think the author was successful in the goal of making it fun and enjoyable to read, but it just didnât meet my expectations.

I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks the premise sounds interesting.

EEEEK!

Holy crumb, Steve Burt is a great writer!

I know these are horror stories for teens, but I'm a grownup, or so they say, and I can't put this book down!!!

Odd but good

I downloaded and read the whole series by Steve Burr. They are very bone-chilling, yet with a minimum of gore and violence. I hope there will be a Odd #6

Not what I was looking for!

This book is apparently for the "young adult" crowd. It was not at all scary or chilling to my heart and was much too young for me.

weirdest tales anywhere

No wonder this collection of 13 stories is such a hit with teens and was the runnerup to Harry Potter for the 2003 Bram Stoker Award (horror's highest). These are Twilight Zone type tales that really tweak the imaginations of teens and adults. This is the ame author whose "Oddest Yet" went on to actually beat Dean Koontz and tie Clive Barker to win the Bram Stoker the next year. And now he's got a fantastic series of thrillers out, FreeKs: Psychic Teens with Paranormal Powers, the first book being FreeK Camp, the second in the works being FreeK Accident. Naturals for movies. Some of these short stories have been used by middle-school teachers for read-aloud for years. Some funny, some ironic, some weird, some scary. Religious home-schoolers may want to damn these, but they're the types of weird tales kids love.

We have a winner here, Steve!

Wow! This is what horror should read like. No gore or maiming, just pure it could happen to you if the conditions were right stories. Each one as entertaining as the one before and after it. Well developed characters and story lines. The plots weren't boring or poorly explained and executed.

These were very entertaining stories, so much so that I read the book a second time and was still entertained. I will be buying the first book and will be on the look out for others. I am a Steve Burt fan!
