Nice Listen!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

To all my couch potato friends I would, but not to those who already know most of the basics to self motivation - which start by just getting off the couch and keeping on top of world events and global market changes.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Maybe some key information that was new news to me.

What about the narrators performance did you like?

I was impressed with the narrator more than the actual content. He was articulate, had a nice voice to listen to throughout the lecture and sounded believable. He was telling his own success story and he is a go-getter. I liked that.

Could you see Extraordinary Leadership being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

nope. It's a motivational speech that that is of such a length and subject matter that does not belong in a movie.

Absolutely facinating. I played it on my way to work and home again. I was so inspired and motivated by this book I spoke of it over dinner with my friends. One of my friends said that the author's name was familiar.....she sat a while and blurted out "did he write a book called The Monk who sold his Ferrari? Why yes he did - he mentions it in this book I listened to today. She then went on to say that it changed her life and the way she goes about her daily tasks. She has tried to get her daughter to read it. Her daughter is a drug user and she wanted her to have that life changing experience. Well I said, maybe it is through your life changing experience that you can live by example to her. She will see it if she is meant to. Just love her until you burst. Robin Sharma certainly is a motivator. He is because he lives out every day what he speaks of. This was my first audible experience and I am hooked.

Jam packed with good info

Would you listen to Extraordinary Leadership again? Why?

Yes, there is so much info in there and it goes so fast. You'll need (and want) to listen to this audio several times over.

What other book might you compare Extraordinary Leadership to and why?

Great tips similar to that of Zig Zigler, Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn and many others

Simple language and excellent points

Love it. Simple, direct, easy to follow, can right points and do some actions. I am now interested to listen to his other books.

Not bad at all for free audio book

Despite some of the negative reviews I liked this audiobook. Yes, there was a lot of self-promotion but I think that was mostly in the beginning. If you are familiar with a lot of Robin Sharma's work I suspect that this would be too general for you but for me it was new and I got a lot out of it for a free product!

Pretty good, but not that good

This book has some great ideas about maximizing your available time and insights into how to affordably start up your own business. There were a couple of things I didn't like however. The first was the narrator's voice. I don't know what it was but I didn't care for it. Second, some of his advice didn't seem appropriate to me. For example, when trying to get approval for working remotely, he suggests deliberately reducing your productivity while in the office. That doesn't really seem appropriate to me (maybe necessary, but nonetheless).

Al in all, this is a good book. I would suggest buying the real book if for no other reason that this book lists a *lot* of web resources, and with no way to really look them up later it makes it hard to remember/find them later.

4 hour work week

Don't get this book on audio!!! It seems like an excellent book to READ and I am going to get a copy but listening to it is grueling due to all the websites he lists. This can go on for minutes:"Go to yahoo.com. H T T P forward slash, forward slash, dot, W, W, W, dot, Yahoo, dot, com.

He often list 10-20 websites, speaking out the full addresses in this manner much through out the book. Once again- Great book, but buy the hard copy and read this one rather than listen to it. The reason I gave this book 2 stars is based strictly on the AUDIO version. I would give the content itself 4-5 stars in HARDCOVER or PAPERBACK book version. I'm actually going to rebuy this, so save your money and pass on the audio version.

Very Basic

I like the exercises he gives, sometimes. Not all the time are they be fresh thoughts. I've met Brian, I appreciate his much earlier works. What's a bummer is there is a lot of repetition. I don't have a lot of time do reporting isn't Very helpful to me.

I was a little disappointed

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This was book was recommended by several people and I found it was a bit of a let down. I was expecting a book that truly changed how I thought but I felt like the author would tell you one thing, thing tell you to do something else that seem to counter what he just told you.

What was most disappointing about Brian Tracys story?

it seemed inconsistant with his message

Did Eat That Frog! inspire you to do anything?

I can save you time and money. The best lesson in this book is: Do the thing that you really don't want to do first and the rest of the day will be easier

Repeated Old Material

This material has been repeated EXACTLY from previous programs by Brian Tracy for the last 25 years. There is NOTHING new here. You have to plan and set goals, Use the 80/20 rule, etc. It's getting ridiculous how this author keeps repackaging the same material and reselling it. If you have any of his other programs on business or personal development, save your money and pass this by.

Good message. Very repetative

Here's two hours in a nutshell - prioritize your work on paper and do the hardest work with the most business value first... in other words, it your frog and it will change your life.

Well Worth it

Very useful book. Even if you don't implement the full improvement strategy of apologizing and advertising it and following up, the various issues discussed are obviously true once you think about them. As the author says throughout, many of the solutions are simple, though not necessarily easy to implement. I would recommend this to anyone who works in an office environment, not just executives. In fact, the earlier in your career you recognize the issues the author discusses, the more effective you will be.

Good book, but didn't lend to the audio format

I really liked this book and found the content to be valuable. However, more than other audiobooks that I've listened to, I found that this didn't lend itself to the format too well. I often felt like I needed to take notes or look back on a list (which of course wasn't available). The audiobook format left me wanting to get a copy from the library which I could copy a few tables and lists out of. This hasn't been my experience as much with other audio books.

Brutally Practical Approach to Changing Yourself

Of all the books I have read which address techniques to make me a better person and more effective colleague, this may be close to the best. Marshall applies a brutally practical perspective that anyone who wants to change can benefit from.

Not about 360

I enjoyed the book. For me the value was in hearing Goldsmith talk about annoying & distracting habits, some of which plague me. In listening to his discussion of the habits I learned a few things about myself. Now I can change a few behaviors that may have been annoying others and holding me back.

A Must Read for Correcting Hidden or Known Flaws

If you could sum up What Got You Here Won't Get You There in three words, what would they be?

Change!!! And this doesn't mean changing others, it means changing yourself. Marshall Goldsmith shows us how.

Even Better The Second Time

As soon as i finished this book, i started over from the beginning, just to appreciate and learn from it's use of the ideas it teaches.

The writers suggest that for an idea to be sticky, it should follow these 6 princples:

1. Simple

2. Unexpected

3. Concrete

4. Credible

5. Emotional

6. Stories

And there is no better way to sum up this book. It follows and teaches these principles brilliantly.

How to Communicate Effectively

This is not just a marketing book. It is a book on how to deliver presentations, how to write, how to teach, how to promote new ideas at work. The book forever changed the way I will do each of these things and I wish I could have read it many years ago.

I could heap superlative after superlative on this book in an attempt to convince you to buy it - but I won't.

The fewer people that read this book, the better off for me. The knowledge is so simple, yet so practical, I want to be able to use it all for my own personal gain and not have to share it with other potential competitors in the idea marketplace.

On a side note, who ever said the narrator was dry or ineffective....well lets just say they don't know what they are talking about. The narration was smooth and totally appropriate for the content delivered. He nailed it.

Great tips for getting your message across!

Being an accountant, my analytical nature makes me skeptical of books on communication. This one completely impressed me because the authors brought the points to life with real examples of why messages do or don't work. I found many areas where I've been making mistakes and can take immediate steps toward improvement.
