Nothing groundbreaking

The ideas in this book were neither insightful nor original. I found myself drifting off as I listened to the generic advice. Although the real life examples that were given were interesting, they were not particularly helpful or relevant for the average business owner. I would recommmend this book primiarly to managers of large corporations.

Great for both thinkers and doers

This short listen is excellent for managers at all levels, from the C-suite to the front line.

Got some great tips

A great book, the author had clear objectives for detirmining which companies he would profile and makes the criteria clear when the book begins. I found this particularly helpful because when I was listening to the examples of what made certain companies effecient I was able to detirmine if it was applicable to my company (I have just two employees, so the likelihood of myself running into some of the situations the CEOs and executives in the book had to tackle is less likely).

The narrator is easy to listen to and is excited about the topic making it sound more like listening to someone who's bought into the theories and is excited to share it with you opposed to some narrators who are monotous and make you fall asleep at the wheel (I listen to mine in the car).

I didn't give it five stars because I wasn't being blown away every five minutes. My five star rating has gone to the 7 Habits, so if you're reading this review and also feel 7 Habits is a five star book then you'll probably be very excited with Less is More as well. Of the 24 business and self-help books I've read in the last 14 months, this is definitely in the top three.

SO GOOD AND IMPORTANT!

What a great listen. The research is meaningful and the conclusions sound. Vital for any business that wants to increase productivity and profitability. The narrator is easy to understand and listen too.

Excellent piece of work!

Great summary, well written, I learned a lot about how to build up and run my business in a cost-efficient and smart way.

Liked it

I really enjoyed the approach of this book. Started off a little slow but then offered some fantastic ideas about how to be productive; things I feel I can focus on such as "the single big idea," "what's the good business reason" and minimized bureaucracy. I thought this was great stuff.

Meandering

There are some important points made in this audiobook, particularly in the summary, but it takes awhile to get to the good parts. I found myself lost and confused more than once.

Informational and important

This book was a quick informational way to better oneself. It was a valuable and important acquisition of know-how that one should have when talking in public. I recommend,nits a quick read that may change the way you talk.

Poorly recorded unstructural speech.

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The topic is interesting to me as an entrepreneur. However, the recording quality was so poor it practically made my ears ache.The performance was dull (it's a lecture after all). The points raised in the speech can be found in many other similar titles nowadays. It is very easy for me to discourage anyone buying this audio book, perhaps even to the speaker himself.

You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It doesn't seem a worthy investment to my money and, more importantly, my time. I would listen to something else.

Thinking about why we should speak

Disappointed in the other reviewers comments. I thought this lecture was great. There are hundreds of tips and tricks books on speaking but few on why it matters. This audio recording helped me a lot and I have used it to help other friends design more meaningful talks.

Short version

What disappointed you about Leadership and the New Science?

This audio book only covers the first 4 chapters, in the actual book there are about 15 chapters. Had I known that I would have never purchased this version.

Only because it was required

What disappointed you about Leadership and the New Science?

The author argues that leadership must adjust as society, culture, and technology changes. The old leadership styles (vaguely defined as not current stuff) relied on the culture and society to define how to lead. New technology, culture, and society requires that leadership be based on those difference.

I think the author missed the mark on defining "leadership" and how the "new science" changes leadership or requires change to leadership. Leadership isn't stagnant, nor is it simply a followed formula employable by everyone. Leadership has different styles and methods which can be applied independently or jointly, and dependent on the audience.

The author's analysis does not offer a better understanding of the subject.

The Commandant of Marine Corps should remove this from his reading list.

Has Leadership and the New Science turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, it hasn't. I've read and listened to other books analyzing leadership. This one is not worth the time or money.

What didnt you like about Margaret J. Wheatleys performance?

Ms. Wheatley does not have a voice for audiobooks. For me, the performance sounded like a scripted lecture with little room for emotion or engagement.

Outstanding Insight

As CEO, I gained great insight how and why new management styles such as Participative Management or Total Quality Management are more efficient than the conventional "Command and Control" style. I was able to follow through and change my company over to Total Quality Management. The results were awesome. Elated customers, happier workers, higher profits and vastly improved profit sharing results.

I wish it was the full book.

I bought the book then got this and realized 2 pages in that it was the abridged version. lame!

Very good points from the author, but if you have listened few more of his audio books, he repeats again and again the same examples/stories of people, this is a bit disappointing.

Should have gotten a pro to read it

The paper version would be useful and easier to highlight the various philosophies. I lisitened to it in my car on a long trip. At several points there was a lack of clarity so I missed some words. Maybe I should write my own book since I ran the Veterans for Trump website and wrote over 250 post supporting and defending president Trump. Some have suggested I do that. I have words lots of words good words but the best word is great! LOL It was a good read.

Excellent insight into President Donald J. Trump

Would you consider the audio edition of The Art of the Donald to be better than the print version?

I think so..I listened to it piecemeal the first time and then straight through a second time because I wanted to learn the lessons better. Excellent book and I think President Trump would be proud of Christopher Bedford! I think Mr. Trump is a very misunderstood president only because of close minded people and Washington swamp creatures. He is doing a great job considering what he is up against, but, I have no doubt, especially after listening to this book, he will be successful in the end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Why Donald Trump, of course!

What does Christopher Bedford bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I think listening makes it more interesting, but, having said that, I may buy the book for reference.The author's mild change in voice to be Mr Trump is just enough for you to know Trump is speaking without being disrespectful.

This book discribed Trump's Presidencial election from a perspective of his voters and the insights about Trump's strategies.

This book reminds you how valuable being "yourself" is. Christopher's insight into Donald Trump is enlightening. A GREAT read.
