Useful phrases for tourists

So, this book wasn't exactly what I expected. It has lots of useful and helpful phrases in Chinese, but it is written with Chinese letters. There is an English phrase and a Chinese translation, but if you don't already know how to actually read Chinese, it will be useless to you. One possible use for this book is to show a Chinese person you are trying to talk to the phrase in the book. That was probably the idea behind this book. The phrases are grouped by theme and it is very easy to find what you're looking for so that is a big plus.

Keep in mind how to use this book and decide yourself if that is something that meets your needs. Personally, I recommend it.

Travelling to China? Pack this along!

These phrases are super handy if you're ever travelling to China. Do note: the book was meant to, rather than give you phrases to speak aloud, show the Chinese phrase to the person you're speaking to. While many Chinese already understand full, fluent English there will be points in time where you'll come across someone who doesn't understand much/any English. In a pinch, this book can be relied on, and I've referenced a Chinese friend who claims that the book's translations are very accurate.

Waste of money

Preparing for a trip to China, I am determined to learn a few basics. The title of this book has the word travel phrases for English speaking travelers in it. What you get is a bunch of English sentences with their Chinese counterparts. Then is some millennial world you are supposed to get an app and show the app to your Chinese host who will then recognize what it is you are wanting to say. What a waste of money. Don't bother with the book, you will NEVER use it.

Very convenient and useful compendium.

I checked this book out based on a recommendation from a friend of a friend. He said he was using it to surprise his girlfriend. He said the book was helpful to him and I should give it try.

It's been an enjoyable read so far. I thought the romantic endeavors section was entertaining yet fun to learn. Hopefully the book will be more useful as I dive into it more. I'll post an update if I feel differently about the book as I progress but so far so good.
