Give this story a chance. It is about a time gone by, however the lessons learned stand the test of time.

I read this book when I was 10 years old and it always stayed with me. There are lessons in the story for everyone. It is a story of a time gone by. The "blurb" on the cover does not do the story justice. It colored my life in ways that are with me today. It is a complex story about loss, family, and responsibility. A young girl is learning lessons to last a lifetime.

I love the book but the page 240-248 are missing. I don't know what happened at the end.

Good read but slow.

It has all of what you expect from Jude. The love, hate, then like,the mystery if what is happening an why. Who done it an why an how are all the people connected to the messages winning camps. Then you throw an opera singer into the mix with a captain from the army to be her guide. Once again a good book from this author but so not worth the $15.00. I paid for it

More great stories just keeps on rolling!

The research done in this book is absolutely brilliant. Jude has a gift of transporting you into her world. Hring finally gets a worthy bride! The characters are so well written! Damn girl, you are a great storyteller!

twilight zone weird!

Hard to follow - jumps around between trying to give the reader background and current events. wacky names as if the author was trying too hard to be cool - very convoluted story line and I had no idea what was the point of the story at all!!! if it was not for the reader who tried SOOO hard to be worth listening too, I would not have bothered. She was great and should find more deserving material.

Could have been good but wasn't

This book could have been so good. It had so many elements of a great story: love, war, revenge, betrayal, loss, great historical backdrop. But the whole thing was flat.

The characters were two dimensional, reminding me of cardboard dolls that wear clothes with tiny paper tabs. Clay-mation would have been a step up.

The female protagonist's efforts at being a spy were pitiful - she would have been more subtle if she had a neon sign on her forehead.

The two main characters were a matched set, though: brainless folks making absurd decisions and having a lot of monotonous sex!!

On the other hand, the narrator was pretty good.

Good Story

Dearest Enemy was a good read. It reminded me of North and South - which I loved. Gabra Zackman is a good narrarator and pulled me into this story with her story telling. The premise was excellent and showed the ups and downs of the war from the standpoint of 2 lovers. The romance was excellent and the drama was on point. Good Story. I would recommend.

A good read

Nan Ryan has never been one of my top ten favs but I may have to reconsider. In dearest enemy her character development was thoughtful and believable. While the ending may seen a little predictable it was well written and, again, believable. This book was a good read, well worth the time.

Road to nowhere

You know where the book is going from page one but it takes a very long and unpleasant time to get there. I was never taken with either hero or heroine and without any connection to either, and no mystery in the plot, it was very slow going.

Oh A Man in Uniform

Would you consider the audio edition of Dearest Enemy to be better than the print version?

Oh yes, Gabra Zackman makes it good.

In my teens these were some of the best books I had read

I have just bought the rest of the Wingman series plus the Starlord series. These books take me back to the days of the E. E. "Doc" Smith Lensman novels in the late "50's. In my teens these were some of the best books I had read. I have since read the Lensman series twice. I will start re- reading the Wingman series after I finish the whole series. If you enjoy pure action fiction and are more than willing not to think about the contradictions then you will enjoy this. Have fun and enjoy a great ride.

The wing man continues to hone his skills

The wing man series is good and has lots of action. This book was slow going at first and was a little tough trying to figure the plot. But in true wing man stile it came together. No teal surprises in the edition and in fact too predictable but still enjoyed the book. Hope the next book in this series has more substance.

Not sure it was worth it.

I have read the complete Wingman series and it started out to be interesting but by the final book it had turned into Science Fiction.

I'm afraid that if I had read the final book first I would not have bought the rest. The final book in the series is far out - spoiled the theme of the books already read. Ok series to occupy your time but each book gets progressively unbelievable.

The Story keeps on imaginatively

Reading these stories from 1 thru 11 has been one neck if a ride!

We are looking toward space and I hope the ed exciting ride continues.

If you like action, interesting characters and realistic battle scenes, then you need to be riding with me.

I can't wait to see where we go next!

New to me author and performer

This is the first Zoe Archer book I have read. I really enjoyed her captivating writing style. She has interesting, unconventional characters that complicated and kind. I love the idea behind this series, which is a group of regular working people banding together to right wrongs that can't be handled by conventional means. Not to kill, but to serve justice. They carefully confirm the crime then the punishment fits it. The romance in this book was really wonderful. I loved the tension and passion and I was crying in the end about the choices that were made...then I had happy tears (yea for a HEA!)

This was an audiobook. I can't find the rest of the series on audiobook, so I guess I have to sit for a minute and read . It's ok because I am not totally in love with this performance. Goodness knows I have heard worse, but maybe this should have been read by a man. Jack is such a strong character and I was slightly disappointed that his voice wasn't deeper.

Overall, this book was a huge surprise for me and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series!

Balanced romance & revenge tale

This story was slow to build to a good all-around story, where the romance took a backseat to the revenge tale. I bought it for the romance, so it took longer for me to really get into the story. But it was written well throughout, especially if romance is secondary for you. Having the romance be sort of secondary was a plus because the romance between Eva and Jack, two mature and experienced people, then seemed understandable, slow-moving, and based on, not only lust but also understanding and respect. Prior to the actual act of sex, which didnt occur until after the 9hour mark, there were looks and longing and finally a little touching and some kissing. Altogether, I think there was really only 1 full sex scene, maybe 2. Whatever the amount, it was sensual and romantic. But it all took a bit and was spaced out, but in a very appropriate way. The appropriateness stemmed from the fact that the two main characters, Eva & Jack, were unlikely romantic partners, which made their getting together great. And love was not spoken of until it made sense, until it was believable and not in the heat of sex.

The only negativethough mildwas that the author was redundant at times.

Nice..

I'm really not one for novellas but my daughter suggested it and we usually like the same books.

For such a short spy story the first one was very good. I really liked Jean Pierre/John Trent and Elizabeth/Lisette and their love story. I liked the grandfather, Danby.

The sex was nice too.

I liked the second story. I could see why Moira wanted to live in Scotland. Wow, what a horrible mother she had. Gideon was a terrific hero. There was no sex in this one but that was ok.

Sweet story about Elizabeth's sister (book 1) Louisa. I liked her and Marston. It was a nice love story and, again, there was no sex.

This is a beautiful Sweet Christian story of redemption and forgiveness! Despite the struggles of a very rough life and a dirt poor existence Lara's hard work, determination, and love for God, brings hope to Gabe's life and make him want to be a better man! Can she love this dandy who says he's given up his gabbling ways? This story takes place during the Oklahoma Land Rush and shares an in depth look at the hopes and struggles of this historical event in the Wild West! Very well done!!

Woulda liked more mosnter

First, this book stands alone just fine. I didn't read the first one and don't feel like there was any parts that were confusing. Book one might enhance it, but it didn't feel necessary.

Strangely this relates to the last book I read: Sandcastle Empire. The plots were very different, but the aspect of falling from high status was a theme in both. I feel that this book addressed it a lot better and that was refreshing. Where Emilie came from and her current status is constantly on her mind, and I think this would be true in both stories.

The romance didn't interest me, but it seemed to follow a classic triangle formula. Emilie had to choose between the "right" choice and the one she actually loved. Normally love triangles really irritate me, but this one was fine since she wasn't waffling about her feelings, just trying to figure out if she could somehow be with one she really wanted instead of who she should be with.

The horror is of the lurking type. Always in the background and not coming to the fore until the final act. I wish it was more present throughout. There were vast stretches of the story that only dealt with the mundane horror of losing status and not the supernatural horror that they ultimately have to battle. I did like the small horrors that showed up from time to time, but I would have liked to see more of them.

Despite the shortcomings it was a fun read.

Gothic Romance

Lady of the Tarot is a unique mixture of suspense and gothic with a touch of paranormal. Emilie and her family flee from France to the safety of her grandmothers estate in London, England. The relief is short lived though because Emilies brother Sinjon is acting strange and then theres her attraction to aristocrat Linton, who wants to forge his own destiny.

This story is definitely interesting and different from what I usually read. I enjoyed the audiobook even though at times the story seemed to lose its way. I loved the interaction between Emilie and her grandmother the most, followed by Linton.

Narrator Christina Marie Morris added value to this story with her wide array of character voices and shes the reason this audiobook rates 4 stars.

A delightfully sweet novella!

Henrietta heads to Angel Vale, Wyoming where sheâll meet up with Benjamin Capel to become his mail-order bride. She doesnât care about money as long as her husband-to-be is kind to her. Upon their first meeting, she falls for himâ.literally!

I really enjoyed this book, as mail-order bride romances are my favorite! This one exceeded my expectations of a short novella, it was full of detail, humor, friendships and making a living in a small mining town. Benjamin has many secrets that he wishes not to reveal to Henrietta too soon, in hopes of surprising her on their wedding day. Unfortunately, it almost backfires on him and causes all sorts of trouble! Will Henrietta be able to look past his deception to love the heart within? This was a sweet romance with glimpses of Christianity within the pages. They are both characters of faith and youâll read of one surprising conversion. That made my heart happy and put a smile on my face! I highly recommend this short, sweet romance to readers of inspirational historical romances.

Great quick read

Henrietta is nervous about becoming a mail order bride, yet is excited about working in the eatery. When she arrives in Angel Vale Wyoming she is not sure what to expect. Yet when she falls for her intended there are many mysteries she must solve before she feels she can truly trust him.

Benjamin can't believe he has sent off for a mail order bride. Will she love him for him or will she find out all his secrets and only love him for what he can offer? When she continues to fall at his feet and ask so many questions he is not sure what to think of her.

Henrietta and Benjamin have a great since of humor and a great forgiving spirit.

If you are looking for a great, quick, mail order bride, Christian romance this one is for you. I was given a copy of this novella from the author for my honest opinion.
