Surprisingly addictive
What made the experience of listening to Pawn the most enjoyable?
The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. A well written, unique take on the dystopian young adult genre.
What other book might you compare Pawn to and why?
The book can and surely will be compared to Hunger Games. The heroine has the strength we all admire in Katniss--the two share the impoverished background and lack of control in regards to the situations they end up facing.
What does Lameece Issaq bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Lameece did a fantastic job differentiating the characters--breathing accurate personality into the dialogue. Simply outstanding.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A pawn becomes a Queen.

Well worth the listen/read. I highly recommend.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
It's a young adult read that doesn't transition enough into being enjoyable for adults too. The issues are a bit too simplistic. I'd try to enrich the subplots, but then it would lose its place in its genre. So, leave the book as it, it just wasn't right for me.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It was good as it was actually. I'd have psychoanalyzed the cast a bit more. More followthrough.

Can't recall. Enjoyed the reading overall though.
Did Pawn inspire you to do anything?
Pawn put me in mind of Hunger Games, wherein you can rebuild a lot about a person's externals.

Good book for listening to but not giving your full attention to. So like, while driving, doing errands, etc.
Stupid character makes foolish decisions.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
We're told through the clunky narrative that the main character, Kitty, is surprisingly intelligent. I can't see how.She cannot make a single logical connections herself without someone outright explaining it to her. "Whhhhat? The guy so evil he's practically twirling his mustache wants to do me harm? Le gasp!" She cannot read (yes, she has dyslexia but so do others without being 100% illiterate), and she consistently makes foolish decisions.
