Almost a Crime by Penny Vincenzi is set in the 1990's with two highly British sophisticated people whom are trying to have and keep it all, one with political connections and his wife a highly acclaimed woman in the business world. As they try to have the perfect Power Marriage, family, friends and career, a charmed life, as we all would wish for.
Unfortunately, as life gives us many dramas, we learn the road to a charmed married life takes hard work and many, many turns for the good as well as bad. How they deal with family, friends and balancing their careers in view of their world around them, trying to work out the ordinary dramas that plague all of us in life at different times. We watch how the higher class of British sophistication works out their history among the many they have to deal with in full view of the masses.
Their many characters, plots and family dramas keep you reading to see what, who and how it will all come together in the end.
I do like this author's novel's and I have read several of her books before and will read her work again.

Great author. Reading all her books
Not her best
This book is not nearly as fun to read as her others. The characters never really come alive and I can't relate to any of them Lots of boring conversations about business deals and the ladies seem artificial. She missed the boat on this novel but I always love reading any story that takes place in London or the English countryside. I am halfway through and will finish it but it has been a slow read for me. It is nice for me to read and picture the many places I have visited in England.
If you love to read for pleasure I'd definitely recommend this author's books.
Great book but I love this author so much I expected nothing less. These books are not for anyone looking for a small and quick read. They are always several hundred pages long and have a lot of historical information woven into the book. I never get tired of reading books by Penny Vincenzi!
A Good read
A well written story as always by Penny Vincenzi, it kept me hooked from the first page to the last. This author brings her characters to life and you live with them throughout the story. Highly recommended.
