The ever-hilarious Mr. Milligan

This is a great series; absolutely hilarious with the added bonus of some jazz music. The only reason I only gave it four stars overall is because, for some reason I cannot fathom, they've split a six episode series into four chunks with the chapter breaks halfway through the episodes.

How difficult would it have been to have the chapter breaks between each episode, for goodness' sake?

Title: Goodness Gracious Me

Author: BBC Audiobooks

Narrator: full cast

Format: Original Recording

Length: 1 hr and 40 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-20-06

Publisher: BBC Worldwide Limited

Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 7 votes

Genres: Radio & TV, Entertainment

Publisher's Summary:

Nothing escaped the satirical eye of Britain's phenomenally successful, all-Asian sketch comedy show. So get your taste buds ready for the blandest dish on the menu in "Going for an English", prepare to let your heart pound at the Indian recreation of "Brief Encounter", and sing along to profound words of wisdom with "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Mother". Hilarious, irreverent, and barrier-breaking.

Members Reviews:

Intelligent Humour!

We love this series. It does not laugh at the Indian culture, but with it. The funniest sketches are those which take a situation and play with expectations. Going For An English puts 4 Indians in a Bernie Inn after a night out drinking, and the way they behave and talk to the waiters is as 4 English lads going for a curry after a night out in the pub.

The first series is much, much better than the second - don't bother with that one.

Author: BBC Audiobooks

Narrator: Nicholas Parsons

Format: Original Recording

Length: 1 hr and 58 mins

Language: English

Release date: 10-16-06

Publisher: BBC Worldwide Limited

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 14 votes

Nicholas Parsons introduces four archive episodes of the ever-popular comedy panel game. Just as uproariously funny and terrifically popular today as when it first began on BBC Radio 4 in 1968, Just a Minute challenges contestants to speak for one minute on a given subject without repetition, hesitation, or deviation. Its mix of irreverent fun and ferocious competition has always attracted stellar names from the world of comedy and theatre, all of whom pit their wits (and their wit) against regular players including Kenneth Williams, Clement Freud, Derek Nimmo, Peter Jones, and Paul Merton.

Among the guests in these four archive programmes are Peter Cook, Barry Took, Victoria Wood, Wendy Richard, and Stephen Fry. Nicholas Parsons, who has been at the helm of the series since it began, as chairman and occasionally as player, introduces this sparkling quartet of editions and provides fascinating background information on the game, as well as memories of its players and its devisor, Ian Messiter.
