I loved starborn and I liked this second installment too even though the multiple perspectives made me impatient.

This one did not disappoint! Hounsom cranks up both tension and pacing

Classic in feel, but with an eye to modern sensibilities, Heartland is a gem of a read. Opening book two of a series is a scary proposition, but this one did not disappoint! Hounsom cranks up both tension and pacing, and takes her characters and her world to new depths.

At the center of this book is not only the exploration of new lands and peoples, but also each character's examination of the truth of who they are and of their own potential. Some like what they find, and others don't -- but even choosing to look at strengths and fears and dreams is powerful. This theme echoes throughout each encounter in the book, whether with rulers or soldiers or town folk. Entire people must come to terms with change and who they are at heart. Past acts have consequences. Fears color the future. Choices must be made and faced, for better or worse.

Like its title implies, this book is about heart -- and it has that in spades. The warmth of Hounsom's writing, and the clarity with which she presents details of her world pull the reader into the story, uncovering layer after layer of plot and character until you can't wait to find out what happens next. It's a good thing book three will be out soon!

Very entertaining and keeps your attention from beginning to end. Full of magic. Cannot wait to read the next book!

Great Young Adult Fantasy Adventure

Markus, Crystal, Kiin, and Treb continue on the quest to find the dragonwand. They find there is more to the codex than what Markus can initially see. He finds a map to a citadel and makes plans for them to get there. But Morris is hot on their tails and the four gets separated. Markus and Crystal find some gnomes that are not as helpful as they seem. But then they find the citadel and Markus learns the truth about the dragon counsel, the dragonwand, and what his role in this world is going to be.

This is a great story with lots of action, a great plot, and a little romance that wonât make you sick to your stomach. I loved how everything fit together and had some little surprises that keep you on your toes.

The Legacy of Dragonwand is meant for young adults but I feel any one of any age would like this book. If you like a great fantasy quest you have found your new favorite book. I will be honest, make sure to read book one first otherwise there is a little catching up to do.

I received Legacy of Dragonwand: Book 2 from Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

A great read!

Daniel has written a well done story that carries you into another world where the characters pull you along with the adventure and keeps you on the edge of your seat! I love the characters and the land they travel through it really is a fantastic story!

A Delightful Escape

Although The Fiuri Realms is the fifth book in the Shioni of Sheba series, I found that it can be thoroughly enjoyed without having read any of the prior books because it is a story in itself. In the case of The Fiuri Realms, the main character, Shioni, is transformed from a human into a small fairy-like being called a Fiuri, and almost the entire book describes her adventures in the world of the Fiuri.

The author has a wonderful knack for making all kinds of fantastical creatures come to life as they talk, converse and interact with each other, show emotions and reactions in situations of danger, love and friendship so that the reader is transported into this other realm where oneâs imagination can run wild. Apart from the excitement of discovery in this fantasy realm, the story has extra interest when Shioni loses her memory shortly after being turned into a Fiuri, and when she is rescued by a group of real Fiuri, she believes she is one of them. Together with her newfound friends, she explores the Fiuri realm in search for answers, and when she does regain her memory, she faces the challenge of rescuing a dear friend who is under the spell of a despot ruler.

Reading The Fiuri Realms, I found myself visualizing the vivid colours and images of the different kinds of Fiuri, the landscapes in which they live, the forbidden surface of the planet with turquoise hills and crimson fields, and last but not least, the well-named âglue-slap plant whose sticky nectar can trap and debilitate a Fiuri. For me it was like the pleasure of watching a colourful Disney animation movie âthe perfect escape from the real world!

Very different fifth in the series

Pretty, sparkly fairy creatures engage in life-or-death battles in their tiny world. Shioni is catapulted there by magic. The book ends on a completely frustrating cliff-hanger: there are two more books promised in the series, but they're not out yet!

I did not like the setting much, and felt that Shioni was out of her African element. Nevertheless, the writing was very good (as it always is with March Secchia), and the story was exciting, interesting, and made sense (within the Fiuri setting, at least).

Overall I really liked it but...

I liked how we (the readers) got to experience Azurelles (Or Zi) world Fiurel. Well, Shioni isnt a very realistic character they say that shes around 11 years but she knows all these fighting moves??!!! Id say a more appropriate age would be 14 or 15.
