A story about a  young dinosaur that dreams of being a superhero? Yup. that's the premise of a new kids book called 'I Wish I Were a Superhero' written by Sarah E. Paul. I first met Sarah a few years back as a cosplayer (and we talk about one of my favorite moments about her Wonder Woman in the podcast). She has a knack for engaging people, especially young ones, so when I found out she was publishing something, I wanted to invite her on to 'get geekish' about her book. We talk about he inspiration, what goes in to publishing, some of our favorite books, and even we end up talking about She-Ra action figures too.

With the passing of the Comet NEOWISE, we got to thinking about some of the 'once in a lifetime' experiences that we've lived through.

What are some once in a lifetime events you've experienced?

What started as random looking at a Craigs’ List ad turned into a love of Corgis! We talk about the short-legged dogs we geek out over, and some of the appearances they've made in pop culture.  (Say hello to 'Izzy' who's filling in the Podcast seat this week for Derek.)

Imagine, if you will, that you have to find a way to spend tens of millions of dollars in the next 30 days, but you have to spend it on yourself and can't give it to charity or anything like that...what kind of geeky things would you buy? We discuss a fictional real-life Brewster's Millions scenario in this week's podcast.

We were going to get nostalgic and talk about lots of fond memories or our childhoods, but we started talking about the joys of video stores and just kept going. What are some of your favorite video store memories?

What movies give you that 'summer vibe'?

Is it because they were about what you did in the summer, is it because you watched them in the summer, or is it because we're conditioned to think any movie with a sunny beach is a summer movie? We talk about some of our favorites in this week's podcast.

This week we're talking about underrated movies. Some movies just don't get the love they deserve. Maybe it's because they didn't make enough money, or maybe they got bad reviews from critics, maybe they marketed to the wrong crowd, or maybe some of the movies I really like are just bad. But we show some love for some of Hollywood's underrated gems.

I know you have one...what's a movie that you seem to like more than anyone else?

What would it be like to live with dinosaurs? We're pretty sure like wouldn't be very Flinstones-esque, with subservient prehistoric animals to do our bidding. We we discuss what it might be like if dinosaurs were around today.

Sci-fi movies, books and video games set in dystopian futures often seemed to over the top and unreasonable. But lately it seems that a lot of the parallels created in these stories don't seem near as far fetched as they used to be. 

If you had to choose a fictional dystopian universe to live in, which one would it be?

He has over 137 credits as a movie actor, plus years of on stage performance, music, painting, and entertaining us with his piano and his cat while stuck at home.
