A robust chat with the band Mari Lwyd. Who are they? Four friends, veterans of varying musical backgrounds and different areas of creativity making sounds throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond. A true all-included songwriting process fuels their creative collaborations.
Their stylings range from 60s doo wop to indie country, Tom Waits vibes, straight rock, and more. "We love to collaborate and each of us bring a different style that comes together into a pretty unique sound. As a newish band formed in 2021, we have a lot of goals for this year, like recording an album, playing a few local shows, and going camping in the mountains of Pennsylvania".

A good talk with my neighbor, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ian Patrick Gentles of Working Class Hussys. We talk about his newest Indie Music project, and the ongoing recovering from the 2021 flooding in our hometown of Lambertville, NJ.
The band puts out a sound that deftly blends soaring harmony vocals, crunchy guitars, and big choruses into music no other group could make. Gentles spent a dozen years as an open-road trucker and comes by his American twang honestly. As such, Working Class Hussys use Southern, Heartland, and Alt-Rock influences interchangeably to create unforgettable original songs about the lives of everyday people.

Formed in 2014, Patrick Angeloni and Anya Schildge merged their love of ear catching melody's and stylish guitar hooks to create what is now, The Well Wish, a female fronted band that blends Indie Rock with soulful Blues and Alternative stylings based out of New Jersey.
What started with a common love for music quickly turned to a more soulful connection, leading the two to be married in 2017. This soulful connection makes it's way into all the songs written by the duo. Patrick and Anya strive to bring honesty and heart to the lyrics and music they perform, aptly naming their first full band EP, "Of Heart and Mind" (available on ITunes and Spotify).
Congrats to The Well Wish as they will perform on June 1st, 2023 with Indigo Girls and Larkin Poe! -- at the Stone Pony Asbury Park, NJ

A conversation with Jim McPaul of the band Tilted. Born at the Jersey Shore in 2009, Tilted started out as a hard rock cover band influenced by the likes of KISS, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Metallica and many others from that genre of music. However, it wasn’t until Tilted added a few originals to their lineup that they became noticed by clubs and landed regular gigs at the Red Lion in Brick, NJ, Cranberries in Manchester, NJ, The Landmark Tavern in Sayreville, NJ, and The Dugout Pub in Staten Island, NY. As the original songs grew more popular, Tilted proceeded to land more prominent gigs at venues like the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ, as well as the “home of original music”, the Brighton Bar in West Long Branch, NJ.
In 2012, Tilted became more serious with their original songwriting talents and put together a new lineup
With all original songs, Tilted hit the shore once again becoming regular staples at the Brighton Bar, opening up for national acts such as Hookers and Blow (ft. Dizzy Reed of G n R), Anvil, Corky Laing (from Mountain) and Tantric. Tilted also opened for well known acts such as Prophet and Judas Priestess at the Stone Pony and has been requested personally by Don Jamieson (That Metal Show) to play in several of his shows at the Brighton which were huge hits. As 2017 approached, Tilted got their 1st show at the infamous 2500 capacity venue Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ opening for Udo Dirkschneider from Accept. Just recently, Tilted got chance to open for NJ's own SKID ROW at the Starland Ballroom! This was one of the most biggest shows for Tilted. Big shows at the Starland Ballroom continued with Dokken and the legendary KISS original guitarist Ace Frehley.

A smooth conversation with Colin Wolf of Smooth Retsina Glow, one of the most dynamic, creative, and musically invigorating bands to emerge from the Lehigh Valley in recent years. Currently consisting of Colin Wolf, Sarah Stoll, Jacob Wolfe, and Brian Dercas, the group has already achieved a significant level of critical and commercial acclaimed. They recently had a number one song on Bank City Radio in Australia and are enjoying some exposure in Japan with their newest release, "Memories Made".
Originally formed in 2019, SRG released their debut record New Frontiers in November of that same year. The album would be nominated for a slew of awards at Lehigh Valley's 2019 Music Awards, where lead guitarist and singer Wolf would also receive the award of best music educator of that year. The future looked bright, but within a matter of weeks, Covid 19 would pulverize civilization, flushing the band's concert schedule out in a matter of days. This period would also see the departure of two of the original founding members, leaving Wolf to rebuild the group.

The Stray Seeds are a high energy, original and cover, americana jamband based out of Bethlehem, PA.
Quinn Iuliano of SoutSider.org describes them as "... a hodge-podge, four-man, jamgrass band who cite Phish, the Grateful Dead, The Who, and Bob Dylan as some of their influences. I use the term “hodge-podge” here because both their music and their members have roots in different places. Their style is based on bluegrass music, but incorporates frequent guitar and harmonica jam outs, hence the term “jamgrass".”
