Inspiring

Much of this book broke my heart, as Laura was very honest about the trials and pain they went through during this period of melody's disease and death. Being a cancer survivor myself, reading about the chemotherapy and spinal taps was grueling for me. I was so impressed with the love of family that Melody had during this time. I am in awe of Laura's courage during this whole illness, as well as that of the rest of the family.

The story was inspiring to me as it showed a loving family going through one of the worst events that can happen with grace and faith.

Walking through grief

Melody's Life Savings is the story of a mother walking through one of life's greatest sadnesses: the death of a child. Reading her story, I was touched by her journey through sorrow, and gained insight into the grieving process that hopefully will help me a be a better friend and encourager to others who might be walking through sadness. It is obvious that one never truly 'gets over' such a loss-- her daughter is forever in her heart, and will be missed until the day they meet again in heaven some day. And yet it is also evident that God walks right alongside those who are grieving, making His presence evident in all sorts of ways.

Lovely

Touching story of a family's journey through the loss of a precious child. Told from the viewpoint of the mother, this will tug at your heart. There is so much pain in loss, in this book Laura shares the facts and details of her child's path through leukemia. Definitely worth the read.

Live and Let Love

Having read their life on these pages left me with a sense of awe; in the goodness of God. I could not put this book down. It held me in tears, laughter, contemplation, more tears, and then more joy. The trust in God and the understanding of each member what this life truly is and what we are to seek stands out clearly in every page.

She dies at the end.

I don't usually like books where the main character dies at the end, but this book is about so much more than a death. This book is a tribute to life lived for the Lord through good times and bad. Melody's mother writes a painfully honest account of their journey through something no parent wants to go through.

I sat and read the book all the way through in one sitting. I knew if I put it down I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything else until I finished it. I think stories like this are a must-read in an age when almost everyone knows someone who deals with cancer. Reading a first-hand account gives you a look into the emotions and details you usually won't get by asking someone "How's it going?" I highly recommend this book.

Authentic and Inspiring

This book came across as very authentic and inspiring. I would highly recommend.

Never could keep me engaged.

The whole time I found myself wondering when it would end or when it would get better. It didn't do either.

An inspiring book that will bring tears and joy

Did I Ever Thank You, Sister? is a heartwarming story of human triumph, of surviving against all odds. Itâs a journey of self-discovery and remembrance. Sal Di Leo grew up in an orphanage outside Chicago, and had a troubled childhood that led him to make some wrong choices as an adult. His childhood scars put him on an aggressive quest for power and money as an adult, and this all soon led to failures, until a friend convinced him to go back to his roots, and the life lessons he learned despite his struggles as a child.

The book often brought me to tears because of how many challenges Sal and his siblings had to face in their youth. Reading about Salâs dreams, tribulations, and how he grew and changed as a person was very inspiring. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
