In a world where we are bombarded with false images of womanhood this book provides scripture and sociology context to make sense of the task of renewing our minds and not conforming to the patterns of this world.

Spoilers and surprise repentance

I just got Hulu a couple of months ago and began watching The Mindy Project. 10 days ago I began Glory in the Ordinary. Spoilers abound within this book, just FYI.

The book was good, despite any surprise spoilers. Several times I found myself wishing I had gotten a physical copy so I could look at the words I was hearing and really meditate on them further.

I found much encouragement from Courtney on the value of my work which I jokingly have referred to as "an exercise in futility".

I also felt a call to repentance for pride and haughtiness I have felt in my work at home. I am not past it yet, but I will continue to repent as I work toward putting my work in it's proper place, and not creating and idol or misplaced identity out of at home work.

Not only does it share powerful life changing stories, it also offers Biblical Scripture references throughout the text. Living on purpose is what God has called us to do as a Christian every day and Mr. Day has opened our minds and hearts to these facts. A must read!

Washer brings it!

The Gospel as preached today has been watered down so much so that the "Good News" is no longer recognizable. Paul Washer's book "The Gospel of Jesus Christ", shows the way to eternal life the way the Bible intended. Mr. Washer brings it!!

The Worst Narration I Have Ever Heard

What would have made Father Benedict better?

Being able to understand more than 50% of the spoken text.

I have the greatest regard for Pope Benedict, and I was looking forward to gaining new insights into his work and thought. I will never know if there are any in this book, because I gave up trying to understand the author/narrator halfway through.

Has Father Benedict turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not at all. I have ready many books by and about Pope Benedict; I consider him one of the greatest lights of our age.

What didnt you like about James F. Days performance?

The narrator, who is also the author, is practically unintelligible. The whole text is swallowed up in a mumbled, garbled, low bass voice. Obviously the author did not listen to his own recording or have it critiqued by others.

You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The book seemed to have potential; I will never know if it delivered on it.

Curiosity shows the way

I struggled with this book. I mean that as a compliment and I hope the author--should he ever read this humble review--will take it as one.

I struggled with the book because I wrestled with the idea that curiosity is not really as important as the author makes it out to be. I'll admit that the skeptic in me--who is often far louder than should be allowed--kept saying "Come on Piper; you're making too much out of this."

The thing is; he's really not.

As I read I came to see curiosity as a kind of meta-skill. It's at the root of so many good and beautiful outcomes. They are outcomes we all desire in our lives but maybe we don't know how to get them. Curiosity shows the way.

Make no mistake, this is not a self-help book. This book is deeply spiritual. It is about the curious Christian after all. Throughout the book, Piper points the reader again and again to a good and loving and amazing God who is the ultimate aim of our curiosity and who will satisfy and compel even the hungriest soul.

In the end, I found this book accomplished exactly what it set out to; it made me curious.

Highly recommend!

A well-needed and well-timed elixir for my life. Concise yet thorough and a very good read. Barnabas Piper provides a road map to a more balanced life that honors and pleases God while pointing his readers toward the abundant life Christ desires for each of us.

Excellent content (and well written to boot)

The fact that a book called âThe Curious Christianâ feels like the optional reading in a course filled with required textbooks is exactly why Piperâs work is so necessary. To be curious is to live a life that is open and humble and full, and that hardly sounds optional.

Routines are easy. Theyâre comfortable. Theyâre the old sweater with holes and missing buttons that fits you just right. But that sweaterâs ugly and it probably smells a little, and itâs time to get a new oneâor at least start incorporating some other pieces into your rotation.

A supernatural read

I give 5 stars to all of M.R.P.'s books because of the affect they have on my life. I devour his books and can hardly put them down because of how they take me into the realm of where God lives. My spirit is brought close to Jesus, and it brings a longing in my soul to experience what Matthew experiences. Thank you Matthew for all of your books.

I read the book in one night. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. Very touching and makes you realize that we also have the ability to hear God speak to us but we choose to ignore what he's saying to us. I want to thank my boss Dr. L for recommending the book in a time that I need it the most. I also believe that God has its way of also utilizing others to communicate to us.

This book is a gem.
