If you realize that the unthinkable could happen and you want to be prepared, then you need this audiobook. A good tool for those new to being an urban "prepper".
Excellent book to start on.
This is an excellent book to peak your interest in what to store and what to look for in your survival gear. It's a matter of when. With natural disaster being more prominent this is an excellent book to use to get your stores set up.
How to Physically and Mentally Prepare for Disaster
I live in Vancouver BC, an earthquake zone on the west coast of Canada. In addition to earthquakes, we have to be prepared for possible Tsunamis resulting from earthquakes on land or out in the ocean. In the past year there have been at least three earthquakes ranging from magnitudes 5.0 to 6.5. So far we've been lucky because the earthquakes were in remote areas and did not affect towns or cities.
However, I am well aware that "the big one" could happen ANY day. Though the city and provincial governments tell people to be prepared, most people aren't. Pretty well any disaster preparedness information I have read only talks about days or at most weeks. This book talks about days, weeks, months, years and potentially even decades ... SMART!!
URBAN SURVIVAL opened my eyes to what would happen if disaster struck. Not only are there the practical steps of being prepared, but in reading the book the author prepares you for the "mental mindset" you will need in order to keep yourself, your family and your pets safe and alive.
The book is a fast and easy read and provides several "get ready" lists. After years of just thinking about it, I have decided to pull my head out of the sand and actually be prepared.
I especially liked that the author covered a full range of "decision making" issues and included pets in the family!
Survival
A good outline, shows lots of starting lists. Actually had some things I had missed in gettin my stuff together!
