One of the Best

Grace Chetwin, where have you gone, with your wonderful tales and vivid images? You changed a young girl's life with your stories, and I yearn for more.

In this novel, the whole concept of computers and the precursor to the Internet (BW: Before Windows) is played out, and it's a fabulous tale. Think Tron without the bad acting/images/costumes. Better yet, don't think Tron.

Anyways, what I love about this book is that Chetwin uses relaxation and hypnotism techniques that work in real life to help the heroine go into this other-realm of the Shadow world to save a boy trapped inside the confines of a computer-ish land, trapped by magic. It's absolutely wonderful, I still use those relaxation techniques to this day, the story is enchanting and the library cover was mesmerizing. Please find it and read it.

Out of the Dark World

Out of the Dark World was an "okay" book. Most of my friends who have read it, thought it was good, basically all of them. I personally didn't like it because I thought it got a little boring at times, but it was exciting considering there was magic involved, etc. From a 1-5 rating I would rate it a 4 because there were times where I got bored and I don't really like these kinds of books. I would recommend this book to anyone who is able to keep their attention to a book, and a person who will read a book even if it has to do with magic. Which, I think, makes it funner. It's mainly just about Sue and Meg and how they use magic to go to the "Dark World," and end up doing some pretty weird things. It's very exciting and overall, I enjoyed this book.

Great for children.

As usual Famous Five is great, my granddaughter loves the cd and now wants to listen to that and not have me read to her "as there are so many voices on the cd". The next morning I ask how how she liked the story "I went to sleep and have not heard the end, can I listen now".

She always has a cd on at night to go to sleep. Has done since she was 9 months old!!!

Great Bedtime Reader

All of the Illustrated Chosen Classics are great bedtime readers. My wife sits in the hall of the children's bedrooms and reads these stories to them at bedtime. The difference between these books and the traditional novels is that these stories move very fast. My son, in particular, will hear one of these abridged classic novels and, if he likes it, will then read the full unabridged version on his own. Kind of gives our kids a taste of the classics without having to start reading a really large and sometimes overwhelming looking book. My son is 10 and my daughter is 15. We have about 30 of these types of books in our library.

A Classic Still

Like many people of my age (62), I read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as a child because at that time it was widely perceived to be a child's or young adult's book. This is unfortunate as it is not nor has it ever been directed at the young. In my rereading I discovered for the first time why it is still called the original great American novel. Huckleberry, like Twain, is opinionated and perceptive. His narration and point of view drive the novel forward. Rather than relegate this work to the children's shelves or castigate it as racist, folks should embrace this novel for what it is, a bildungsroman that shows the growth of a country as well as the growth of its young protagonist.

It captivated a classroom full of surly teens

I teach English, and the junior year in North Carolina is devoted to American literature. I approached Huck Finn with no small amount of trepidation because of Twain's use of vernacular. I ran into the same problem with "Their Eyes Were Watching God" and solved that by listening to Ruby Dee's audio recording, which students loved. I purchased this recording of Huck Finn, and it was to die for fabulous. Students read along in their books as we listened to the recording, and it helped bring the characters and the story alive for them. They laughed when I hoped they would laugh, and they understood the novel so much better by being able to listen to it. This recording was invaluable.

Reading this book as an adult is a whole different ...

Reading this book as an adult is a whole different experience. I'm fairly sure the versions I read as a child were watered down. I don't have any memory of murder and mayhem in the versions I read as a child. All the same it was highly entertaining and deserving of being a classic.

Friendship and mischieviousness.

I grew up reading this book, a story about Huckleberry Finn and his adventurous life on the Mississippi River as a boy. He would be considered a hoodlum in this day and age, at the time it was written he was an orphan and had no one to help him grow with morals however he is a rather a good boy with pretty good morals and this story is a classic. The story is also about friendship.

Once again, Melissa J. Morgan has blown me away with one of her amazing books! The book, once again talks about the troubles that you may have with your friends and the problems that you may find when you start getting older and having boyfriends. I think that any preteens would love to have this book to read, just like I did, and I loved it the whole time I was reading.

Falling In Like

Once again, Melissa J. Morgan has made me want to spend more money on her books, because they are fabulous! This book gets more into the hard problems you'll probably have with boys as you get older. It goes into friendship, and keeps talking about the ongoing friendship between all of the camp Lakeview girls. READ THIS BOOK, READ IT NOW!!!!!!! (DO IT BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!

An Okay Book

This book wasn't perfect but it was okay. I had to stop and think about the characters. Every time they mentioned a name they hadn't for a while, I'd stop and give myself a mental picture, and then continue.

I agree!

I LOVE Camp Confidential. It is a great series for anybody. This wasn't my favorite (My favorite is RSVP.) But it was still good. I have to go to bed at 7:30 but I read until 8:30. Even though the books are short (to me) the series is long and it keeps you waiting for the next book. I'm glad there is a sequel ( Sunrise, Sunset ,and Twilight) about Cassie and Tori. ( You'll find out in Sudden ly Last Summer.)

Splendid book!

As I am still in school, I still love to give information filled reviews. I would like to start off by saying that this book was awesome! It had the feelings of an everyday girl. The only problem for me, is that these are thirteen year old girls that have boyfriends!!! I mean in this generation, no parent would let their child kiss and have a boyfriend at this age. Anyways, this book focuses around Sarah. Sarah was always in the background in the other books so I was really surprised when this book was ALL about Sarah. I would recommend it for ages 9-14 REALLY GOOD BOOK

Wish You Weren't Here

I absolutely L-O-V-E this book!!! It was wonderful, and it took me a day. I didn't find anything I didn't like, the book kept me on my toes for hours. I would recommend this book to any children in their pre-teens like me, because it teaches you the problems that you may face with boys as you grow older, and that your friendship I really, really important.

Funny

I really liked this book and it makes me want to read the whole series and it inspired me to stick up for myself and other people.

I LOVE THESE BOOKS!

I love camp confidential. They show me how much fun friendship is. I can't wait for other books to come out. I hope Melissa J. Morgan writes a lot more camp confidential books. These books are so fun, cute, and great. These books are also great for 10-12 year old girls like me. Camp Confidential books are good, great, fabulous, and wonderful. They make people want to read the other books to the series. These books are also really addicting. I read the book "Hide and Shriek" in only one day. I couldn't put the book down! So, girls i think if you haven't read these books yet, go to a book store or anyplace you will find these books and start reading thenm because they are really good! I tottaly reccomend these books for girls.
