A devotional for busy people

When Jesus was on earth, He touched many lives in different ways. From healing, to giving life, to his teaching...and even today, He is changing lives, for anyone who chooses to accept His gifts.

Completely Blessed take a look at Jesus' miracles, parables, and His daily life, and will teach you how to have a meaningful life in Christ. You will learn about His amazing gifts, and find that Jesus has provided exactly what you need to live the life you long for.

Completely Blessed is the companion devotional to Completely His and in the introduction, the author recommends that the books are read together as a set, to get the most of the devotional. I didn't have the pleasure of reading Completely His, but since this is recommended, then I suggest following the author's advice.

The devotionals have titles such as:

* A gift that keeps on giving

* Power over the enemy

* A firm foundation

* A resting place for our worries

* The gift of the Holy Spirit

* A rich reward

* Plus much more.

There are thirty devotionals, one for each day of the month and there is interaction with plenty of space to fill in your thoughts. The devotionals start out with scripture reading, a brief story that fits in with the main idea and then the application, in a section apply named Holding His Hand. It then ends with a brief prayer.

This devotional won't take much time out of a busy day, but yet will give the reader a firm foundation for their daily walk with Christ. I recommend this, if you or someone you know wants to start a daily quiet time.

Great Daily Devotions

This is my first experience with Shannon Ethridge's books, and I was very impressed. She used personal stories, backed up by scripture to give the reader a fresh look at the life of Jesus. Sometimes we forget all the blessings God has in store for His children. We need reminding. She also includes a list of questions after each daily reading, which draw the reader into a time of introspection.

A little book with a big message. Every page is designed to help the reader develop a stronger relationship with God. Recommended.

A little stiff, but surprisingly comprehensive

Both the writing and the narration are a little stiff, but it's a surprisingly comprehensive history given its length. Marty's approach is partly chronological and partly geographical: for example, the book moves from "The First Asian Episode" to "The First African Episode" and then "The First European Episode." The first covers the birth of the church and the early years in Syria, Palestine, and Asian Minor (with some coverage of Christianity's extent further east); the second describes the role played by the theologians of Alexandria, Carthage, and other cities along the North African coast; the third moves to Rome, Constantinople, and the rise of "Christendom." Later episodes fill in the rest of the story. It covers the ground, it's short and easy to follow, and it is truly global as advertised. On the whole a very good introduction to the subject.

A Great Tool for Bible Study

This series of Sunday School lessons on Ephesians is one that blessed me tremendously during my early days as a believer. These lessons certainly give the feel of being in a country church setting, and I enjoy it when the President discusses what Rosalyn and him have been up to, along with asking "Are there any visitors this morning?" to the chuckles of the audience. The fact that the former President has taken the time to have these lessons put together is in-and-off itself a testimony to the faith of this man who has touched many lives in his post-presidency.

Didn't Know What to Expect. Was Favorably Impressed

Jimmy Carter, a former president, gave a set of bible lessons on the Epistle to the Ephesians. Ephesians is written in the voice of Paul (separately there's controversy about whether Paul authored this book and I don't have a position on that). Paul was a prisoner in Rome at the time awaiting execution. Paul explains about being a prisoner for the lord.

Carter was impressive in this taped set of Bible lessons given at various churches. He clearly understands the lessons of the Bible and I learned much more than I expected. Carter related the lessons of Ephesians to world events and the current era in the most natural and perhaps flawless way.

I had no idea that Jimmy Carter could give such direct, folksy Bible study lessons. Further, I had no idea he could connect so well with the audience. This former president is inspirational and if you haven't paid attention to him for many years, you'll probably be as surprised as I was.

The lessons themselves are excellent because they apply to our lives. For example, Carter explains how natural it is to think of oneself as superior to poor people in poor countries, just as it was during the time of which Ephesians was written. Carter explains how damaging our words can be when we say bad things about others.

Discovering Worship

This book was worthwile listeing to. I thought and my family agreed with me that it insprired the heart for worshipping God. Chris stories and real life example's made this come to life. It is a must for every Christian. The audio was sometimes slow but the content made up for it. I was so impressed that I am ordering 10 books for my friends.

A Voice of Today's Generation

Boy, what an enormous book....full of GOD'S HEART. From a man (young man at that) blessed with a great musical gift and giving it wholly to the Lord and His Purposes. Chris Tomlin is one of today's great Worship Songwriters. I heard his heart in his song HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD so I thought I would try the book. It is right on the money, accurate and written to point you to the CROSS OF CHRIST. It is really Not About Me! It is about what I can do for Christ. Chris is a great, heartwarming narrator. It is a glimpse into his life as a worship leader. I highly recommend it.

but I'm glad I gave this book a try

I can be a skeptic about studies for Christian women, but I'm glad I gave this book a try. Brazelton lives up to her promise to coach and lead her readers into a more purposeful life. She doesn't preach. She illustrates her points with personal stories from her own and other women's lives, and seemlessly ties the lessons to carefully selected biblical texts. This book is useful for individual study and it would also make a great group study guide.

What an incredible book!

I read the book in 2 days and went out and bought copies for all of my sisters and my best friends, it was entertaining and heart tugging. I've talked to so many women who have "been there and done that" and are still not fulfilled and looking for their purpose. Katie asks some pointed questions that helped me look at what I do and who I am much differently. Months after I bought the book - I actually wrote out all of the answers to the questions at the end of the chapters and was amazed and what new discoveries leaped off the page. It's so worth the read!!

Facilitating growth

Initially, I bought the Praying for Purpose book to infuse my daily quiet time (plus it was on sale). I was enjoying Praying for Purpose so much that I decided to take the advice at the front of the book and read Pathway to Purpose as the foundational book. Significant time elapsed between my buying the book and actually reading it--mainly because the longer chapters were daunting when combined with my hectic schedule. Nevertheless, I knew I need to really delve into it because I am at a watershed period in my life. Well, once I began reading I was drawn into the contents. I was particularly struck by the author's relation of her own story. She writes with strategic candor--sharing vignettes of her life with precise relativity to the principle being shared. I was not able to fully relate to the first 2 chapters but I appreciated their advance wisdom. I am still working my way through both books because ever so often I stumble on something that takes me a few days to "soak in." Nevertheless, I've enjoyed Pathway to Purpose so much, I bought copies for each of my Women's Ministry Coucil members. I would totally recommend it!!!!!

Thank you for writing this book .

I gave the 5 stars because the message was exactly what my mom needed before her death . I have tried many times to explain to her that the only thing GOD wants to know is what she did with the the gift of Jesus. Did she accept the gift or did she reject it ? I was able to read the book to her and pray for the answer . I would recommend this to anyone who has an unbelieving parent . The message is clear and can be used for either mom or dad . Fun and informative Bible trivia guide

What made the experience of listening to Angels in the Bible the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed reviewing some of the references to angels mentioned in the Scriptures...

What was one of the most memorable moments of Angels in the Bible?

The section dealing with the Angel Gabriel's prophecy to Mary that she would bear Christ was the most striking and full of detail in my mind.

No extreme reaction -- just felt like I was being edified and informed through the trivial pursuit type of format.

Any additional comments?

At one point, there may be a few references which are slightly off. The narrator states "First Corinthians" when he probably meant to say "First Chronicles" although I could not ascertain whether that was in the original text or not. Also, for those who have a standard Catholic Bible, not all of the books mentioned in this guide may be provided in your Bible edition.
