Comprehensive personal testimony!
Very inspiring and encouraging! I appreciated the fact that the author went step by step in her journey of the trauma she experienced and then addressed the solution that helped her to achieve recovery. Author did not go into gory details of her unfortunate abuse which I appreciate since too much lengthy detail prohibits me from finishing a book. She seems genuine in her desire to help others and deserves a hand shake for the tremendous effort on her part to overcome and heal from her past abuse. I was truly inspired!
Refreshingly inspirational
One might expect that a short book on the subject of recovery from severe depression might be so painful, so emotionally trying, that it would be hard to wade through. Not so. The Climb offers hope to the seriously depressed, in the form of direct, constructive suggestions and venues for support. It asks the right questions, promotes the right actions to get past and get over situations that can cause impairing emotional stasis. Buy this book to share, if you know someone who suffers from debilitating depression. Buy it for yourself, if you feel down and need a fresh, new perspective on how to get yourself out of the emotional doldrums. Buy it, if for no other reason, to remind yourself that there is always something you can do to feel better.
A must have for professionals and clients alike!
I am working in the field of mental health counseling and have found this book very helpful. It is written out of the perspective of a woman who has experienced depression and suicidal thoughts; she not only offers some background information and insight into her own life, but she also describes ways of coping that worked for her. In the back of the book, the author included some hands on exercises that are easy to use and helpful. I would recommend ths book to everyone who is interested in learning about the topic of suicide as well as suicide attempt survivors.
Powerful Book
This book written from the author's experiences offers insights to the processes and mindset that take place before an individual contemplates that very final decision of suicide. There are very useful suggestions on how to handle the numerous emotions and feelings of being powerless that can overtake you while in a depression, struggling with anxiety attacks, etc. The book is not only insightful but this author truly makes you feel as if you are not alone and that there is a way out.
