Truly lullabies

This is a great book and CD. The music is beautiful, and the songs have similar styles/arrangements -- meaning that my baby actually does get lulled to sleep! And once you learn the tunes to the original arrangements (which takes about 4 or 5 listenings), it's really fun to sing along.

Well, my daughter is now [...] and I'm back looking for more book/CD sets like Mrs. Moon. We rediscovered it a few months ago, and read/listen to it every single night before bed. She totally loves it -- in a whole new way! She loves the pictures, and the way the songs match the pictures. (Once she learns to read, I expect we'll move on to the lyrics!) I've never gotten so much mileage out of one book/CD. It's just great!

Cute for Baby

We love the Illustrations in this book. It almost looks like some are really quilted.

well paired book and cd set

the beautiful patchwork illustrations of this book are very well matched by the folk style of the songs. though all of these songs are classics, Dana Kletter's original arrangement of them is refreshing in its sound, making them seem entirely new. the gentle tones of the voices and traditional instruments really give a cozy warmth to the lullabies, and really do pair well with the sweet homemade quality of the pictures they accompany.

Great CD for kids and grown-ups

I have used the CD everyday for over 4 years for a total of 2 kids. Both fall asleep to this CD and have done so since they were newborns. Its very relaxing...I have fallen asleep to it myself!! CD still working great. We never really read the book much.

TERRIBLE print quality for a great story.

This review is about the quality of this printed copy - not the Tale of Peter Rabbit. This was an absolutely terrible quality print job. It was more like a pamphlet than a book. I could have printed a better copy from my cheap deskjet printer at home. See attached images. First, the print is not centered on any page - the text and images are almost falling off the bottom. Second, the quality of images is absolutely terrible - it looks like 50 dpi or worse and is extremely fuzzy. Third, the pages are glued in AND they are crooked (see image). Finally, because the pages are glued together you can't open any of the pages completely and the "pamphlet" will not lay flat.

Good for adults and older children

Absolutely adorable! I had this exact coloring book when I was a child and had to have it again! This coloring book is perfect for adults and older children, as some of the pages are more detailed. It is also a story book, with the story printed on the bottom of each page. With a good price like this, it's worth it!

My Daughter Enjoys It

Of course, this is a classic story, so reviewing it seems a bit presumptuous to me. I'll just share my (almost) three-year-old daughter's reaction. We have this one and several other Beatrix Potter mini-books. Her favorite Beatrix Potter book is Mrs. Tittlemouse, but she enjoys Peter Rabbit too. She likes these little books because they are easy for her to hold. The books and illustrations are lovely, and I've ordered the entire set for her for her birthday. I enjoyed them as a child and a friend of mine pointed out that Beatrix Potter's books have a more extensive vocabulary than what you find in many children's books today. We both see this as a good thing as we like to set a high bar for our kids and believe they will rise to it. I definitely recommend Peter Rabbit and the entire Beatrix Potter series. My daughter enjoyed hearing these stories beginning at age two and I enjoy reading them myself, so I think they have a wide appeal and are suitable for many ages.

DO NOT BUY!!!

Amazon should be a shamed in selling this book! It's not the story that is bad it's this book... The story is cut short, there are grammatical errors in the book, the font is faded and uneven on the pages, and the pictures were not clear at all! This was given to my son in his Easter basket and I wish I reviewed it before I put it in his basket to return it but it's passed the return date. I wouldn't even want this version of the book if it was free!!! Do your research and find the original version of the book!!!

No illustrations to be found in this 1905 edition

The Tale of Mrs. Tiggly-Winkle by author Beatrix Potter is one of the stories written by Ms. Potter. Her stories are even better with illustrations. Sadly, the illustrations are missing in the 1905 version published for the Kindle and other tablets.

You will find her delightful writing making her book a good choice for bedtime stories. The Tale of Mrs. Tiggly-Winkle does mention some of the other characters found in Potter's books. You will find mention of Squirrel Nutkin, Benjamin Bunny and Peter Rabbit in her charming story.

Recommend as a bedtime story for children of all ages.

I have loved and cherished Beatrix Potter since my very early ages. Books got to us handed down and through bazaars and church stands as we live in Brasil. I always remember having these little books in my house. That in 1960! So, yes, it is a must in any library. Kindle also!

Because this story is very old fashion, it was a wonderful opportunity for discussion about some of the strange words that were commonplace in the era in which the book was written. If you have a child who is interested in language and history, as well as the fanciful characters Miss Potter created, you will love dear Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle.

Perfect Bedtime Story

The captivating characters and wonderful picture Potter created were enough to capture youngsters' imaginations; I appreciated the wondrous craftsmanship shown in these stories. They engaged without exciting - perfect for bedtime!

I put this on my Kindle so it would be there anytime I was around the wee ones. Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle was one of my (now grown) son's favorites of the Beatrix Potter series. The gentle creature character, personified in the simple bustle of life, is endearing. Her tales enable an imagination to soar.

Great Book!

This book is great, and since the movie just came out I thought I would finally splurge and get this book. I though it would be a nice supplement for my daughter, to reinforce that many of these movies are reinterpretations of time-tested classic stories. Although it took a bit to explain inheritance to my 3 1/2 year old she loves this book. The pictures are marvelous, and it has that crafty cat of course-most kids like the trickster character. My daughter loves on of the last pictures where puss curls up on a rug having accomplished his ends, she always says, "Oh Puss!". This book should be a part of everyone's library.

Am I missing something?

Sorry about the 1-star rating -- it is not for the book's content (I can't read it), but for the horrible way it displays on my iPad.

The cover page is nice and big, fills the screen, and looks great. Ever subsequent page however is about half size, meaning that two pages fit across the iPad screen, and the font is too small to be readable.

Furthermore, the iPad version only allows landscape viewing, and the stupid Kindle app remains in this orientation after returning to my books list, and moving on to another book.

Am I missing something here?

Not my favorite version of this story. Feels lacking, and the cat isn't charming or clever sounding. I sort of regret grabbing this version.

Lovely book with beautiful illustrations!

This book is beautifully written and full of lovely illustrations. As former children, we can all remember imagining ourselves in the pictures of the books our parents read to us as kids. This book seems perfect for children to do just that. I loved it so much that I bought a couple more for my friend's kids! Hopefully this is the first in a series from Morter.

I love this lullaby! My three children 4 year old boy and 2 year old twins all love to listen to me and my husband read to them. The music is really very pretty, and different than the usual cutsy lullaby music. Everyone should have this book in their collection.

This is the best baby book out there!
