    Lot if filler
I like the books but it has a lot of filler material like he was going for page count hope the next ones better
So, so, err, yeah, not sure
    Any additional comments?
So, first the performance is very good. Second the story, viewed from beginning to end, is also very good, and well thought out. Third, it annoys the hell out of me at times. Now, this could be a reflection of personal taste, so your interpretation may differ, but, the story is very "overly wordy/pompous/full of itself" at times. "He took a step forward, not because that is how one walks, but because that was the force of man to the world, the weight of existence in a single step that would have meaning for a thousand, thousand years...if not for the second step, which thundered in the minds and body of the million souls that watched from the woods of damnation...but then came the third step" .....so if, you can ignore each step of the 1000 mile journey, the story is quite pleasant. If you can not, then save the credit. If you can sorta ignore it on and off, then do so. I can only hope that book three eases up on the preaching.
    Pretty Good
Great performance from John Lee, however the story is decent. Like some have said before, this story felt like filler content. I never really felt the urge to continue listening after the breaks I took from the story. The only reason I continued through this book was to get to the next one. The characters that were specific to this book were ok. None felt memorable or very impactful. This story could have been played out much better, but unfortunately the majority of the story was predictable.
Best book of the series so far
Could not stop listening to this one. Same way it was reading the story in 93. Already looking fed to the elf queen. Hope the story is just as good.
    Great performance, well written
John Lee does a great job. Moves between characters seamlessly and brings them to life. Brooks creates a great story with rich layers and characters. Great listen.

And what of the swordsman called Traveller who, with his companion Ereko, has gone in search of a confrontation from which none have ever returned?
As the Guard prepares to wage war, so Laseen's own generals and mages, the "Old Hands," grow impatient at what they see as her mismanagement of the Empire. But could Laseen have outwitted them all? Could she be using the uprisings to draw out and finally eliminate these last irksome survivors from the days of her illustrious predecessor, Kellanved?

The book is good but there is a technical problem
Chapter 27 finishes at page 690 in the book, chapter 28 starts at page 729. The missing 39 pages are in chapter 29 of the audiobook. Otherwise a great book especially for those familiar with the malazan universe.
Great book, one part out of order
    Love the book and performance.
However there were 4 minutes way out of order. The last 4 minutes of "chapter 30" are very clearly supposed to be in an earlier chapter, I believe 28 or 29. I was very confused until I checked my hard copy of the book. I can't explain better without spoilers. Still five stars from me though.
    Great story, uninspired narrator
The story is awesome and ICE really stand up to Erikson in this book. However the narration didn't work for me, at all. This is literally the first audiobook I had to quit listening and ended up reading on kindle exclusively. I simply could not stand Mr Banks performance for some reason. Coming from the Malazan universe, don't expect anything close to Michael Page or Ralph Lister.
One of the Best stories in the Malazan universe.
as good if not better than the Best of Erickson's work. I had my doubts about another writer building in this world but those doubts have been dismantled with the skill of Dassem himself.
    Awesome.
This author and his brother partner of the malazan series, are truly legendary. You two have inspired me to develop a vrmmo, hopefully one day reflecting the...stupendous world you guys have made for us. cheers sirs.

    not my favorite
I'm a big fan of Terry Brooks but I've got to say I felt like someone else wrote this book. the names and settings were all familiar but the writing style seemed forced and lack luster. I could not get into the characters. he spent too much time in the head of the one character to the point of annoying me. the saving grace was that the voice actor was very good.
    What Happened Terry?
What would have made The Sorcerer's Daughter better?
Terry Brooks is by far my favorite storyteller. So, it is so sad to see such a disappointing series, with this book being the worst of the three. This series and book are full of uninteresting and boring characters, extremely predictable plot, and painfully awkward development of falling in love. So, we as Shannara fans get to go from truly awesome villains like the Warlock lord, Findo Gask, and Tael Riverine to a pathetic villain like Arcannen? The druids are now a bunch on pansies. I think Allanon or Walker could have singlehandedly taken out the entire druid order. I know Im being a bit harsh on this book and series, but as Ive said, Terry is my favorite storyteller, and having read all of his books multiple times, I know he can write a much better series. Perhaps he phoned this one in.
What do you think your next listen will be?
    More Terry Brooks
    Which scene was your favorite?
    When it finally ended
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Sorcerer's Daughter?
I would have cut the entire book.
Is this the same author? Where is Terry Brooks?
When the book starts off by changing a character from a gnome to a dwarf it was apparent something was up. Then came the "life partner" crap. Marriage can't happen in this book, only "life partners" of all types.
I have been a Terry Brooks fan forever, sadly this was the worst book yet & I am not sure how to proceed.
should have been called "the death of Shannara" instead of the "defenders" of it.
    good listen
good listen. I listen on my commute to work and couldn't wait to get back on my car to hear more!
    let down
What could Terry Brooks have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Story line and characters were not up to the level that I am used to getting from Terry brooks. I really didn't like any of his main characters.
What character would you cut from The Sorcerer's Daughter?
I really didn't like any of his main characters.

fantastic... his voices are spot on! A+
My second audible book, I was so immersed I found myself sitting in the truck after I had gotten home from work.... listening....
great story really enjoy durotan his ability to
to lead his clan with honor and be soft hearted loving husband . this story can appeal to both men and woman. I'm hooked and need to hear more story!!!
Great for fans and loremasters alike
In all the book was very entertaining and the narrator did an exceptional job. The one thing that may have threw me off at first was the narrators accent. Prepare for British orcs. Other than that, a great story and experience overall.
    Another great Christie Golden book
Some may overlook this one since there were a few other wow books released around the same time, but I suggest this not missing it. The story touches on struggles and the foundation of the orcs in a compelling way. The story pulls you in and if you are a fan of other wow books it is one to definitely pick up.
    Excellent.
I enjoyed every second of this audiobook. The british accent isn't a bother at all, the speaker's emphasis was spot on.

Great story brought down by the narrator
I really enjoyed the previous narrator of the first two books. Sad he didn't return for this one.
    Stephen Hoye!?!?!
what In the world did you guys do with Stephen hoye?? that man was your ace in the hole for the dragon age series and you bring in a droll nasally sounding Gildart??
Mr. Hoye captured my heart and left me hanging on to every word in the stolen throne and the calling.
I don't know what's going on audible with your performers in these books but the quality of readers is severely lacking. luckily for you guys this is a book I've been wanting to listen to for ages so I'm going to fight through the hell that Mr. Jackson puts everyone through in his books during his destruction of exciting literature.
now that I've listened to it I'll say that the story was great. still narration left much to be desired.
Please Read before you Play Inquisition
This is a incredible book that shine so much light on the Mage Rebellion & the characters involved. After reading this I can now safety say that I have a new found fondness for several characters found both within Dragon Age: Inquisition & Origins. Please do yourself a favor & read this book.
    Great bridge between the games
Great way to bridge the gap between dragon age 2 and dragon age inquisition nice back story to Cole one of the coolest characters in the franchise
    Great back story for Cole!

Sonja: Looking for love in all the wrong places
I was expecting book 2 to merely progress the tale in a more or less linear fashion but was curiously surprised to find that Sonja's ability to bring back her dead mother from the spirit world was rather novel and, therefore, interesting. I particularly enjoyed the exploration of what such an ability would have on those who were exposed to it and the ramifications of such an event.
Clearly, Sonja is a tortured soul who committed cruel and murderous acts to attain her goal to bring back her once ever-loving mother, the only person who had truly loved her, but we find that she is not as two-dimensional a character as had been implied in book 1. This is also true for other characters as we find out during the unfolding of the story.
The plot arc involving Effy and Alex also has shades of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" to it and is seemingly working up to be a very heartfelt, traumatic and poignant conclusion.
Kudos to the writer for breaking what I feared would be a predictable follow-on and for the narrator who gave realism to these characters and their personalities.
    Onto book 3...
    OK follow up
It was a little slow and boring. The narration got better. Not much to say. It was alright but I will not be continuing this series.
    eh...
it was okay, better than the first one with less unessary passages. I will try the 3rd book, but only because I have an unlimited subscription.
    Good story
This book really grew on me . Glad I gave the second one a chance . The narration seemed to improve as well .
    Did not finish
I had to stop listening. The book just got booring. There are several books before the first book that you need to read before this series for it to make more sense. I wouldn't recommend it.

    Great addition to the series!
I like the overall layout of the story Brian is telling as well as the way he leads you through the adventure. I also like the breaks he takes between the characters paths and I feel they are better placed than in other books instead of just in the middle of something intense like other books he leads it to a good breaking point so it isn't leaving you frustrated.
I don't like how Ethan is helpless. He's giving far too much control to his spiritual ancestor which is making it frustrating but that's part of the story and hopefully this internal battle gains some traction moving forward.
Final note, please use other words than recounted for when a character is recalling a part of their adventure.
    Sexy scenes slow the momentum
Expert narration surpasses the content. Third book in series, and yet the plot still feels like it's finding its way, under development. Unpolished writing style. Too many sexy scenes and conversations they're cheesy and uninspired. Plus, they detract from the pace and the plot. Dialogue is littered with F-bombs. Characters are sometimes criminally stupid or revoltingly evil.
Across the three books, characters "couldn't help laughing" or "couldn't help looking" or "couldn't help thinking," etc. I suppose this might be how the author talks. His own speech patterns bleed into his characters too much. Thus, I cannot immerse myself into this fantasy world.
    excellent
makes you want to go immediately to book 4. I wave to really enjoyed the series.
Good trilogy using many ripped off ideas.
Several ripped off ideas where very obvious. No real unique ideas. Still a good listen. Oh wait still going on... hack writers these days write too much fluff without progressing their stories. yay more books to come.
    it's ok.
it's just ok. could do without the suggestive launguage. I get it... his manhood bulges. I dont need to hear it over and over. felt like i was reading 50 shades of grey..plus it's hard to tell just how old the characters are. I really liked the godling chronicles by this author, but this is so so.

Another great episode from Lindsay Buroker
I've enjoyed listening to another book in the Dragon Blood series. I own the rest of them on kindle but wish they were all available to listen to as well. The narrator, Caitlin Davies, does a fine job with differing the voices of the characters.
The series is a fantasy story arc with magic, dragons, airships and adventure. I'm looking forward to more of the character development as I move into the 5th book.
    Happy listening!

Seventy-five years ago, the dragons fell from the sky. We thought they were just meteorites - six terrifying explosions rang the world like a bell. When the dust settled, we went on with our lives as though nothing had happened.
More than a decade later, five of the eggs hatched. The dragons that emerged were small and weak. They kept to the shadows, working in secret to persuade people to do their bidding, offering magic as payment and reward. Years passed...and still we didn't notice the evil growing in our midst.
The war began suddenly. Survivors called it the "apocalypse" - nine billion people killed in an afternoon. Then the dragons revealed themselves, burning huge swaths of what remained, taunting and mocking and murdering the survivors.
Four leaders arose: the Wizard, the Dragon Rider, the Monk, and the Dragon Slayer. Allied with the rebel dragon, they waged war for years until they, too, were defeated, scattered, or killed.
When the war ended, only one dragon remained...but that single dragon was enough to plunge the world into tyranny.

    A brilliant beginning!
I listened to Mr. Wells's Sovereign of the Seven Isles series and really enjoyed the books. He's brought his ability to tell a great story to a whole new level with this book however. He creates a mesmerizing post-apocalyptic world combining sci-fi and fantasy in a brilliant and original way and pulled off one of the most enjoyable books I've read or listened to in a few years. I have the second book downloaded and eagerly await starting it. I would recommend this book to any fan of the sci-fi or fantasy genres and I believe it's a great book for anyone who enjoys a good story to grab up even if you typically don't follow these genres. Give it a try, I guarantee you won't regret it!
    Acting out of character
PG 13: No sex, some cussing, lots of blood and gore. Told in 3rd person, set in modern world /USA in a post-apocalyptic setting, about 65 years after dragons hatched and denotated man-made bombs all over the world. Tyrant dragon and his priests and dragon guards rule the world through dark blood magic, having outlawed technology, electricity, etc. Characters span gender and age, with the young hero Benjamin 16 years old and his wise grandfather Cyril about 80.
Why two stars? Characterization is weak. The characters feel like cardboard. Imogen, an adult woman, cries all the time. No reason is ever given for the horrible way Franklin treats Benjamin, even though twins usually share a bond. Frank is repeatedly stupid (like leaving camp without a weapon) but hes also depicted as shrewd and calculating.
But the worst characterization breach? No reason is given for wise old Cyril to summon a demon in the presence of two untrustworthy people (Nash and Frank), despite his own dire warnings about what could happen if anyone draws the demons attention. So why didnt he have them bound and gagged before the summoning? Why not use the tranquilizer gun to put them to sleep? Apparently, Cyril is not wise. Hes quite stupid. Careless. Thick as a brick. Despite all the chapters extolling his wisdom. Character breached badly to drive the plot. Grrr.
Derek Perkins is an excellent narrator, but this story doesnt allow him to shine. He deserves clever dialogue and interesting characters.
    Wyer Rider
Great book worth the cost will read all three.

Mystic is the start of an enchanting new epic fantasy series from Jason Denzel, the founder of Dragonmount.
I called to the Myst, and it sent us you. For hundreds of years, high-born nobles have competed for the chance to learn of the Myst. Powerful, revered, and often reclusive, Mystics have the unique ability to summon and manipulate the Myst: the underlying energy that lives at the heart of the universe. Such has always been the tradition - until a new High Mystic takes her seat and chooses Pomella AnDone, a restless, low-born teenager, as a candidate.
Commoners have never been welcomed among the select few given the opportunity to rise beyond even the highest nobility. So when Pomella chooses to accept the summons and journey to Kelt Apar, she knows that she will have more to contend with than the competition for the apprenticeship. Breaking both law and tradition, Pomella undergoes three trials against the other candidates to prove her worthiness. As the trials unfold, Pomella navigates a deadly world of intolerance and betrayal, unaware that ruthless conspirators intend to make her suffer for having the audacity to seek to unravel the secrets of the Myst.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Absolutely

The characters were appealing and well developed. The narrator was excellent. The story moved along at a good pace and the ending was unexpected. All in all, an enjoyable audio book.
After the 1st hour it sucked me in.
Still I give the story and performance and story a solid 3.5 stars, and thus 4. The issues I had with some of the character voices are the Valley Girls that popped up, and while (and this includes the story) the protagonist appears weak, the emphasis, and overly dramatised speaking part, made the protagonist come off as even weaker. As for the story, in the beginning the protagonist comes off as somewhat strong, but once she gets to her destination she comes off as being weak. I didn't like that inconsistency. Otherwise I thought the story was pretty good, but still not deserving an honest, or solid 4 stars. Assuming there are more in the series, and there must be, based on the ending, I'm going to continue the rest of the series.
    Great first book
While I'm not a literary critic, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This is the first novel by Jason Denzel and he did an outstanding job! It was great from start to finish. I look forward to his future work!
Decent but somewhat less than Stellar.
Interesting story, though quite fustrating at times. I felt that the characters were a bit flat even though the reader was told "there is emotional depth here". There was some character development but there was alot of room for more. More depth, more growth, more exploration and discovery. What was developed seemed like "low hanging fruit". The "revelations" were almost formulaic. The author did excell in trying to create a new world and in revealing parts of it to the reader without too much exposen
The narrator is capable of a number of "voices", but again I didn't feel the emotion that might have otherwise allowed for a spectacular preformance.
