Absolutely Fantastic

I have never met Mick Foley and I don't know that it is likely I will ever have the pleasure. But he comes across as one of the kindest, most generous and decent people walking the earth today.

On Christmas Eve, I like to spend some time listening to 'A Christmas Carol' in audio. In 2018 that may be supplanted by 'Saint Mick'. This may be Foley's most heart felt book to date.

A must-have for any Only Fools / 80s-90s-20's TV fan! Everybody!

I first fell in love with the work of David Jason when he provided the voice for Danger Mouse.

I watched all of Only Fools of Horses when I was 5 (in 1992) it was a programme I got to share with my grandparents who raised me.

Now when I watch it - whenever I watch it, it not only entertains me but reminds me of them and how lucky I was to have them and their influence.

I can't also help but feel how lucky I was to have David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Leonard Pearce, Buster Merryfield and their influence.

Wonderful.

Mislead by the details

I bought this as an avid fan of Sir David, and was highly disappointed to find that he only did the first 5 minutes of the book which was a massive downside to me if it was advertised as Intro read by Sir David at least your letting everyone know what to expect.

The content was great with fantastic stories.

Upset about mistake

I've listened to this twice and enjoyed it but early on the narrator refers to Uncle Arthur??? Urm hello it's Uncle Albert???

Geoffreys does a great job giving an overview of Drew Brees' life. It allowed me to recall some of the past major successes & heartbreaking losses the Saints & Brees have experienced. I also learned a number of things about his persevering attitude, Christian faith, & personal life. Good book...

Everyone Should Admire Drew Brees, No Matter Our Beliefs About God

Drew Brees is a remarkable football player and a an even more accomplished person. His priorities are solid. He is vibrant in his relationship with Jesus Christ. He sounds like an awesome husband and father. He is clearly a successful leader. How these NFL quarterbacks are able to take the abuse of linemen, defensive backs, and linebackers week-in and week-out is beyond me. I have always admired Drew Brees. He has maintained his integrity during a fabled college and professional career, in spite of the temptations which come from such fame. I pray that he finishes his career and life well. He will no doubt be a Hall of Famer. I believe he is even more concerned, though, about being named among God's "Hall of Faith" members. This book offered good insights about Drew Brees' life and career as a football player. As a fellow born again Christian, I am pleased to number myself among Drew Brees fans, especially after reading this biography.

Spoiler Alert

The author displays a great knowledge for the subject of football, statistics and the subject himself. His passion for the sport shines through. However, for an individual who does not watch football on a regular basis I found it quite challenging to read.

Much of Drew Brees personal life was left out until the end of the book. I would've like to see it intertwined alongside his professional career. It makes the story more relatable and personable. The famous quarterbacks faith was not portrayed as much as I would've liked. Considering the obstacles this man had to overcome I'm sure it was more impactful than the reader knows. I'm glad to have read the book and thankful to provide a review for the author.

Dreams come true.

Very good book will read again. Must read for young athletes . This book can help anybody going to adversity.

What a life lived and shared!

This perhaps is not my favorite memoir. There is a great deal of sadness, loss, brutal poverty, and generally the harm humans do to each other and themselves. But, the perspective on life this man has, the obstacles he has overcome, the success he has achieved and the celebrity he has endured; all make for a most memorable read. He narrates the book himself, with a sly Irish accent, and an abundance of wit and humor. Sometimes he even breaks into song!

He is the brother of the famous Frank McCourt whose book I have not read, perhaps being writers is built into their DNA, I don't know. But I do know I will remember this book, and this man, for years to come.

Lovely

As if I didnt love Ian already, this just cemented it. I really enjoyed this book and it was a big plus for Ian himself to narrate it! My fav autobiography audiobooks are when the author narrates it as well.

Love an Autobiography

If you like autobiographies, then you should definitely give this a listen. Ian Harding introduces us to the world of birding and uses birds as metaphors for his lifes adventures. Harding is able to make the world of birding and his Hollywood adventures entertaining yet relatable. Honestly, this did not feel like a book written by an actor - and thats a compliment!

Ian Harding: Actor, Birder, and an Magical Author

After reading Scrappy Little Nobody, I craved for more funny and charming, but serious memoir from a celebrity, and then, I remembered Odd Birds by Ian Harding. The book is not precisely like Scrappy Little Nobody, but it has its charms that I believe people will love.

Ian talks a lot about birds in this memoir. At first, I thought he was going to dump information after information of birds. What Ian did, however, was he explained how birds were a big part of his life. From his memories as a small boy to the man that he is now. Odd Birds might not contain the deep topics that we usually find in biographies or memoirs, but this book will capture your heart.

I used to see Ian as that handsome teacher from Pretty Little Liars. Every episode, I told myself, "I wish I could be like Ian. He has no problems or whatever. He is living the life," but behind the camera is a different kind of Ian. He also struggles, and life isn't always kind to him. I love the lesson that Odd Birds gave me. Very memorable and a must read.

He was so easy to listen to. The stories make you daydream. It was nice to see about his life but not be all about him.

i loved that the book was narrated by Ian Harding. I feel that it gave more depth and meaning to his memories and stories. The book was like having a conversation with an old friend. I connected to in a few ways...its okay to an odd bird. lol. i suggest the book as a light read. It definitely is well written with hints of humor, in which i sincerely laughed out loud.

A very enjoyable book - not only did the Douglas' share their letters to each other during their courtship and marriage, they also shared letters sent and received from folks such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis, Henry Kissinger, Barack Obama, the Kennedy's, and many others. The book also contained numerous photos. I thank the Douglas' for sharing their memories. It is too bad that letter writing has gone by the wayside in these days of texting and twittering. The anticipation of getting the letter, holding it, reading it and re-reading it is a very special feeling that cannot be replicated with electronic communication.

DEFINITELY AN ENJOYABLE READ

It's to be applauded that Kirk and Anne Douglas have managed to stay happily married for over 60 years. That's no small feat in Hollywood. This book is an acknowledgement of their love and is touching in its sincerity. The letters sometimes grew a bit tiresome and yet it's somewhat astonishing in this age of e-mails and texts that so many people once wrote real letters! That's something future generations may never know. Their loss.

The real gems in this book are the little stories about Kirk and Anne's many famous friends. They share little tidbits that make the famous feel like the 'real people' that they are. It was fun to read about all those people - and sad to realize so many of them are already gone.

This book was an easy read and definitely an enjoyable one.

A lot of trivia and a great look at some famous Hollywood alumni unscreened!

Quite an interesting read! The letters between Kirk and Anne did get pretty tedious not too long into the book. However, the insights that they both told about themselves and others in LaLa land were very interesting. They hung out with and knew quite a lot of the Hollywood elite. Of course, Kirk did turn 100 years old in 2016. I do remember him accepting an award after his stroke. I had no idea, though, that was the longest phrase he had spoken since then.

There is a lot of trivia for the buffs out there.

If you like his kind of 1960's radio broadcast narration, and stories that usually involve old Hollywood, you will like this book. Personally, I like this stuff so I always enjoy his facts and tidbits.
