I really enjoy this book, it is largely a book of quotes and examples, but inspiring.

Read this book to learn how to develop character, so that you can stand out in a world seriously lacking in character.

"What is Character? Is it not that sum of qualities which distinguishes one person from another?"

I once heard a Hollywood movie actor use the line, "You make me want to be a better man." The books I have read by O.S. Marden not only make me want to be a better man, they give me a simple outline and description of things that I can do to make myself a better man.

"What sadder sight is there than an old man who has spent his whole life getting instead of growing."

I recommend this book so that you can learn to be a person of character. A person others look up to, admire, and respect. What good is all the money, if no one likes you or wants to be around you? Where does A Leadership Series for Successful Living rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

As one of the original founding fathers of the self development movement orginating in the late 1800's, his insight and wisdom are timeless. There are a few old wise men from whom all modern self improvement books have been rooted, Orison S. Marden is one of the main sourced roots. I've hundreds of books, and almost all O.S. Mardens original texts, this audio program is a well done updated version of a handfull of his wonderful books. Nice to have on audio.

Awesome Read - True to the core

Makes so much practical sense and we just do not connect the dots when it can be so easy. I honestly believe it is that learned behavior from our youth, our parents and poor authority examples that gets in the way most of the time.

Great speaker, valuable content

The author/speaker executes with an interesting, conversational, and almost personal delivery. The content is solid and helped me remember where to keep my focus throughout various interactions and stages of my career. I highly recommend this book.

This is the business book I've been looking to find for a long time now. It presents a way to examine our work, life, intentions and emotions that can guide us to running our work in a way that not only can make us great leaders, but can have a lasting impact on the world.

This audiobook is not a copy of the book read out. It's actually a series of audio lectures by the author and is presented in a way that makes it much more effective than most audiobooks. I would recommend everyone who read the book to also accompany it with this audio to really get the full message the author is communicating.

Positive and very authoritative message

This audiobook was read by the author in front of a live audience. At humerous moments, you can hear the audience laugh. Covey is an authoritative speaker. He talks naturally as one familiar and knowledgeable in the subject.

The message that win-win is not only possible but the best policy resonates well with me. This is what I want to hear actually, but the fact that Covey is so authoritative reassures me. He explains why win-win works better than win-lose or lose-win and provides simple but interesting stories to illustrate this phenomenon.

This is a short CD and one I'd like to listen to many times for the inspirational value. The idea of win-win makes sense but we can lose the sense of it when we witness people succeeding in the short term through win-lose actions (taking advantage of others, particularly those in a weaker or vulnerable position).

Over time, one's reputation is worth a lot. When one strives to make sure both parties to a deal, transaction or relationship benefit, one builds a better future for oneself. I see this in many aspects of life. Consider the job market for example. It's a lot easier to find a job if you've build up a good reputation.

However, as with all positive messages, it's necessary to expose oneself frequently just because the daily injustices of life can make a person insecure and cynical. That's why I plan to listen to this audiobook many more times.

Pretty much a rehash

Most of the content is a nearly verbatim rehash of parts of this chapter in the book. Some of the material near the end doesn't sound as familiar, and is very good and very useful. This is useful for those who would like to hear the basic ideas of this chapter and be able to review them without having to 'rewind' to that chapter in the book. Otherwise, just buy the unabridged version of the audiobook!

Not exactly as advertised

If you already own the actual book, "The Seven Habits...", don't waste your time and money with this one. It's entirely a re-hashing of the Habit 1: Be Proactive chapter from the original book. The publisher should feel embarrassed advertising this version, focusing solely on the 1st habit, as "never before released material" and "including new and insightful examples." Unless I fell asleep somewhere during this one-hour book, I heard nothing I haven't heard released before and nothing "new and insightful." It's literally a re-reading of the original chapter with either sound effects in the background or in a live presentation. While I love hearing Mr. Covey speak live (which bumped it up to 2 stars), it didn't make up for the rest of the program. There's nothing new or fresh about this program. I'm very disappointed, especially coming from a company as good as Stephen Covey's.

Do you like history, sports, leadership? This book is for you. A number of great perspectives on leadership that are surprisingly combined with good character... Even some that are counter to the popular conversation on the subject.
