If You Don't Think You Are Part of the Problem....Think Again!

There is so much brilliance in this little book.

Most of us have our own core values. The things we wonât compromise on. Unfortunately, some people and some businesses and definitely some of our political leaders are lacking in core values and that is what Larry so brilliantly points out in this book, How our core values are collapsing and what can be done about it.

Larry shows us whatâs wrong with people, business, education and government. Thatâs right, there are no âsafe spacesâ here, and that is what I like most about this book. I knew I was going to like this book from the moment I heard the title.

My favorite paragraph is, âMamas and daddiesâstop giving your lasy-ass kids stuff and stop giving them money. Governmentâstop giving lazy-ass people stuff and stop giving them money. Stop making it easier for people not to get a job by creating one more government program that the rest of us who do have jobs have to pay for. this was probably one of the top 3 best personal development programs that I've ever taken. It ranks right up there with personal power from Tony Robbins.

I loved that the chapters and lessons were divided up so thoughtfully.

The goal setting formula that he shares in that lesson has been worth the entire program. Wow what an insight.

I absolutely recommend that you get this program right now if you want to improve yourself personally.

Some very solid points, but sporadic

Some hokey "collective consciousness"' stuff, but some thought provoking other chapters. Certainly a decent performance, but toward the end felt like he was stretching for chapters.

Ruined by awful reading

You would think that if you wrote the sentence you would know how to emphasize the point of the sentence when you read it. The content may have been good but the pausing was atrocious, negating any value in the material. This should have been read by a professional instead of the author. Even listening to it at 1.1x speed didn't help. I gave up in frustration.

A good listen!!!

So glad DeVon read his own book! Authors at this level should always read their own book because its a gift to get the information directly from the source! I completed this audiobook in less than 24 hours because when I started I didnt want to stop! I hope DeVon publishes more books related to success in life and work. I like the real examples like his wife and Foxy Brown.

It was exactly what I needed

I was losing hope for my dream. Discouraged and hopeless, I asked God why I was feeling the way I did about my career. I was feeling extremely lost and on the verge of giving up. & the next day I encountered this book. It was exactly what I needed. Devon did an amazing job at explaining and encouraging the guidelines of what it takes to pursue your dream with God. The way I was feeling was exactly what he felt in the past. It was encouraging to know I wasn't the only one going through this struggle.

The one book about healthcare leadership you should read

One of the consistently high performing areas in publishing is the business leadership literature. Unfortunately few books focus on value-driven business strategies for healthcare leaders. This is surprising considering we spend at least $3 Trillion a year on healthcare in this country. I say at least because this estimate does not take into account the indirect costs of disease burden on families and loss of productivity. Nevertheless there is much to be learned from celebrity authors like Jim Collins, Steven Covey and Malcolm Gladwell. Good to Great, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and David and Goliath should be on the reading list of anyone in healthcare leadership.

For aspiring healthcare leaders, there has never been the equivalent of a book like Good to Great or Great by Choice.

Joan has written an outstanding book. It is filled with wonderful examples of how to move ahead when your path seems blocked. She discovered her mission when she was not permitted to play Little League ball because she was the wrong gender. Some value lost in translation

I think the author is effective in important ways, and sincere. My experience reading the book is that the material didn't energize me as it would at an in-person event. My internal response to the written language wasn't energizing. Something chafed, and that's just my experience as I'll describe below.

I lost my concentration on the larger message against my wishes because my attention was consumed by the written expressions used. For example consider the sentence, "I have never been a part of a more selfless, energized, and egoless team" (p. 177). I enjoy hearing speech like that and find it energizing.
