With the recent negligent discharge of a firearm on a movie production set that resulted in the loss of one life and the injury of another person, we are again reminded that just because an actor uses a firearm as a prop for a movie or TV production, that doesn't automatically mean they understand the basic rules of firearm safety and responsibility.

Let's sit down and have an honest discussion of how the landscape of our nation may change if only we would start to require teaching basic firearm safety and responsibility curricula in schools across the land. What would be the pros and cons of such an endeavor?

We try not to focus on news headlines here, because we want to keep the videos relevant for years to come. That said, I believe this topic IS relevant both now and forever, so let's dig into it and see what we find.

Larry is an on-set armorer for Independent Studio Services in Hollywood, a contributor to Outdoor Channel shows such as Gun Stories with Joe Mantegna, and most recently costars on Outdoor Channel's "Hollywood Weapons:  Fact or Fiction."

You have certain unalienable rights because you are a PERSON, no other reason needed. What you do NOT have are rights endowed upon you because you belong to a GROUP. You don't get special rights under the Constitution due to your race, skin color, nation of birth, sexual orientation, family status, or any other reason. We hear all the time, "It's just a ban on ASSAULT WEAPONS," or, "It's just a MASK." It doesn't matter if it's JUST a mask, an injection, a ban on "weapons of war," bump stocks, pistol braces, vertical foregrips, or anything else. The problem we all have with these bans or mandates is not with the individual item or process, but with the REASONS for them, along with the potential effects. It's well known in psychology that the initial issue is rarely, if ever, the REAL issue. Let's peel back some layers and dig into the REAL issues, and why we are so adamant about how we think.
