I can't keep wishing my life away! There has to be more to life than this. 

This is what I was thinking the day I decided to leave the teaching profession. My knees were shaking. My heart was pounding. I thought about all there was to lose- the best pension in the country. The benefit package. The job security. Then I thought about what there was to gain. 

Freedom to create a life I love to live. 

Freedom to choose my destiny. 

Freedom to change lives in a huge way. 

I knew my purpose was greater. 

And I jumped. I dove into coaching and my life has never been the same. 

Being an entrepreneur has not always been easy. It has been alive. 

I have no regrets.

Kim’s undergrad degree was in Education- (Primary teaching) , which led to over 20 years teaching in schools both in Australia and abroad. Her teaching experience was across the general classroom, though primarily in the performing and visual arts disciplines. Though passionate about teaching, an inner conflict grew with a seeming shift in systemic values in relation to those values that guided her practice. After wrestling with weighing up how best to navigate this growing dissonance, she left mainstream education in 2011.

In addition to her research work, Kim currently teaches at a not-for-profit tertiary institution in Melbourne, called ‘The Miecat Institute, ’www.miecat.edu.au , where her values connected to education are more aligned.  She is involved in delivering the Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice, and supervises students. She also offers Arts Therapy to private clients in her private practice, both remotely and in person (when that option is available!)

Inspired in childhood by a documentary about The Battle of the Alamo, Caleb went on to study history and continues to have an abiding interest in the San Antonio area.

In fact he recently moved to San Antonio (his favourite holiday destination) and is in the process of setting up a guided historical tour of the city centre, while still currently working as a teacher, with big plans to transition out of Education and into a life he loves, in the very near future. 

Candice Allen has been a high school teacher and counsellor with the public school board in Windsor, ON Canada for the last 15 years. Nicole Ashby always dreamed of being a teacher. In 2005, she obtained her Grad.Dip.Ed in Secondary Teaching and for the next 3 years worked in across 3 schools in WA.

In 2010, Nicole began working with a mentor who opened her eyes to the possibility of financial freedom and business.

At the time, Nicole's husband, Joe was working offshore on an oil rig working 28 days away and 28 days home, otherwise known as Fly-In-Fly-Out.  The couple's three children were young, 6 months, 2 and 4 when Nicole decided she would start her first business, FIFO Families and began connecting, supporting and educating the 100,000 workers and families across the country who were living the FIFO lifestyle.

Nicole sold FIFO Families in 2015 and started another business called High-Profit Media.  Once again, Nicole leveraged her teaching skills and began teaching small business owners how to generate free media interviews across TV, radio, print, and podcasts.

A finalist in both the Telstra Business Awards and Telstra Business Woman awards, Nicole mentors business owners and shares her marketing skills focussing on copy and publicity.

Nathan is a practitioner, researcher, consultant and facilitator walking alongside families, children, schools, organisations and communities within education, disability and child protection.

Cheryle began her teaching career working with young adults but realised it wasn't a great fit for her. Life and corporate experience have made her deeply resilient and adaptable leader both personally and in organisational contexts.   She's endlessly optimistic and her signature strength is in bringing unique perspectives and innovative thought leadership to areas of human behaviour and culture development in organisations.

After a career spanning more than 20 years in education, Tracey finally decided enough was enough and departed from her teaching career nearly three years ago. The decision to take the leap took a very long time though! She remembers her husband asking her to leave about 5 years prior to finally pulling the pin. She believes making the decision is the hardest part, following that, the journey gets exciting.

For the last 3 years, Tracey has worked with her husband in their Electrical and Air Conditioning business based in Sydney. The road was initially a little bumpy because Tracey thought she knew nothing about business and didn’t feel that she had an important role to play. Three years on though, and it turns out that so many of the skills she developed throughout her teaching career have been invaluable in the growth of their business. When it comes to communication and organisation, especially in the area of trades, Tracey is a whizz.

Life is great now! She is so grateful for her teaching career but even more grateful for the simple pleasures and balance that life provides her today.
