I saw the movie years ago and loved it. I love it when authors read their books because you hear the voice the author intended.

A charming play

A reading of "Shirley Valentine" by the author Willy Russell. This funny and ultimately joyful play is a perfect choice for audio presentation, and we come to learn of the successful midlife crisis of a wife and mother from the London suburbs. Mr. Russell does a splendid reading of his own play, and the gender switch is not at all distracting. Pauline Collins did an equally good job in the onstage and movie versions (both of which were also superb) and I also recommend you try to find the movie on video. But don't miss this Audible production. Tremendous fun!

Holly

Being an American, I've never been able to catch her in anything but the sci-fi series "Red Dwarf", but I loved her in that series and figured if her book is anything like her "Holly", it was bound to be funny. I was most definately not disappointed! "Random Abstract Memory" is a funny look at the comedy/life of Hattie Hayridge as told as only she can. She's smart, funny, sexy, and is about as close as you'll come to a female version of a "Monty Pythoner" as you'll ever find. My only dissapointment is that it's only 68 minutes long....far too short a time to spend with the uncomparible Ms Hayridge!

Allen Partridge is very entertaining

This audible book is not the best of Alan Partridge books I have. However I think Alan Partridge is, always, very entertaining.

Funniest man alive

Coogan doesn't have to rely on boorish swearing. He's much too creatively intelligent to settle for that brand of comedy.

NOTE: For American English speaking listeners hearing a thick northern English accent for the first time can be puzzling. Don't let it bother you just keep listening and you'll acclimate yourself in no time.

I loved Steve Coogan in "Philomena" and "The Trip", so, it was a nice surprise to hear his Alan Partridge comedy. It's also interesting to hear BBC comedy versus American comedy. It's hard to find enough humor out there.

Warning! I nearly crashed my car over this one

I laughed so hard over the "Gwen" story I nearly wrecked my car on the freeway. Don't listen to this one unless you can drive responsibly while completely losing it.

Be careful driving!

So funny! Especially the "Gwen" episode! I, too, almost wrecked while driving and listening to this selection. It was so funny that it caused me, just recovering from pneumonia, to have an enormous coughing fit and almost wreck my car. I had to pull over so that I could listen to the rest of it. Cho is an excellent mimic. I particularly love her imitation of her mother. Definitely buy this one!

Loved it!!

I have always been a fan of Margaret Cho and this was another of her great works. I recommend it to anyone with a sense of humor.

Funny but way too short

This was the shortest book I ever listened too save your money and look her up skits on you tube. Perhaps it's might fault I thought it was a memoir of her life just quick sound bites of stage performances.

This performance is amazing. I've listened to it several times over the last year and each time I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Very, very funny woman... and what makes it so good is how she talks about things that are so "real" and yet finds such humor in them. Genius.

Brilliant Stand up show. I have seen a fair bit of his stuff on various TV shows or Quiz's he has appeared on but if you are a fan you wont mind and still laugh just as hard!

Laugh a minute. Bit difficult listening to it on the tube as I'm sure I looked mad laughing out loud! Loved it

excellent comedy- nothing lost from the visual

Unlike many stand up comedy audiobooks the out out talk works incredibly well as an audio only except the very beginning about his cockney walk. He had me laughing my head off the whole way through. Only thing I would say is dont listen to it with parents or children as the content is not easy going to say the least, sadly my first listen was with my parents... That was awkward to say the least. I highly reccomend!
