Title: Summary and Analysis of Double Cross: The Story of the Mobster Who Controlled America
    Author: Summary Station
    Narrator: Lynn Longseth
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-16-16
    Publisher: Summary Station
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Criminals
    Publisher's Summary:
This beautifully written book isn't merely a tale of a mobster's life; it reveals the pain of a notorious person's family. Double Cross is a tale of the love and compassion a younger brother has for his older, successful, but ruthless sibling. At times I was reminded of the opening of A Tale of Two Cities: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." After all, Mooney Giancano's rule of the Outfit, the Chicago mob, was a financial dream come true for Mooney and those he liked, whether they were mistresses or brothers. Socially, however, Mooney's rule eventually devastated various members of the Giancano family. Another reason we see such a dichotomy in the book's account of the life of Mooney Giancano is that the Great Depression took place during part of Mooney's life. Men were desperate to find any kind of work, especially work that paid well. Yet, not everyone could perform the kind of services needed to stay employed or to rise within the ranks of the Outfit. The juxtaposition of the need of men to find work with the feeling of failure they had at realizing their morals and compassion prevented them from engaging in mob work was heartbreaking. That is, they might be killed by the mob due to their kindness. Prior to reading this book, my initial concern was that it might be just a recasting of historical data in an attempt to clear the Giancana name. After all, why would Sam Giancana confide in a younger brother regarding his illegal activities? After reading the book, I feel that the conversations Chuck claims to have had with Mooney are plausible and perhaps accurate.

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 6 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Criminals
    Publisher's Summary:
With the pacing of a thriller, a veteran journalist's account of the terrorist behind the Mumbai attacks and a planned attack in Europe.
David Headley, the American Pakistani also known as Daood Gilani, lived a double life. One day he would stroll through Central Park in his tailored Armani suit as a true New Yorker, and the next he would browse in the bazaar in Lahore wearing traditional Pakistani clothes. One day he would drink champagne at the most extravagant clubs; on another he would prostrate himself in prayer in remote Pakistan and pledge fidelity to Allah.
Born in 1960, the son of an American mother and a Pakistani father, with one blue eye and one brown, Headley grew up between East and West. He was attracted to both worlds, even working as an informant for the US government, until one day he found he had to choose between the place of his birth and a radical form of Islam preaching global jihad. This is the disturbing story of the mastermind behind the 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people - who two months later flew to Copenhagen to plan another act of terror with the help of al-Qaeda sleeper cells in Europe.
Veteran journalist Kaare Srensen has reconstructed his movements and planning in a tense feat of reportage. His account, based on extensive reporting, eyewitness interviews, and documentation including wiretaps, court transcripts, and emails by Headley accessed from a chat room cache of 9,000 messages, offers unprecedented insight into the mind of the terrorist. The author has provided updates and a new preface for the English-language edition.

    Pakistan's Dichotomy (David or Dawood?)
    Any additional comments?
This is yet another book that presents the mindset of various Pakistani establishments towards India. The question of whether these are state sponsored or not does not really matter. Its an agenda that is indoctrinated at a very young age that becomes the sole motive for some impressionable minds.
Dawood Gilani alias David Coleman is one such instance who scales the heights with assistance from his Genes and US Passport. Its a truly fascinating story that exposes weaknesses of Indian security agencies and how complacent US could be when the attacks are not intended towards its homeland or NATO.

Have you ever wanted to do something people told you was impossible? Then this book is for you. After growing up on a diet of Michael Palin's TV travels, Martyn Sibley realized there was more out there than the flat fields of Cambridge, England. With the help of a ragged band of PA's, a wheelchair charger, and a dangerous amount of determination, Martyn set off on a series of travel adventures that took him from the warm waters of Mexico to the snowy peaks of Catalonia. This is the story of the scrapes, skirmishes, and silly situations that one man and his wheelchair can get into, given a little self-belief and a whole lot of planning. Proving that despite the doubters, everything really is possible.

In this book she explains most of her experiences with the ups and downs she has come across in her life. When going through the downs and darkness of life, she still managed to get through to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Many things made an attempt to break her down, but she would not let them keep her down for long. While being thrown different kind of obstacles that life brought her she became lost and in pain. Learn About One Woman's Struggle with Alchohol Addiction and the Backouts She Experienced in a Fraction of the Time It Takes to Read the Actual Book!
The book Blackout is different from other books about recovering alcoholics. This book is not just for people who are recovering from alcoholism, it is also for people who know alcoholics. Sarah explains how alcohol was her way for dealing with life's problems. This caused her to grow up without actually learning how to deal with problems on her own. She views alcohol as a crutch that prevented her from dealing with emotional and spiritual issues.
When a person reads/listens to Blackout, they are able to get an idea into what it was like to live life in such a way. This book is also unique because it looks at alcoholism from the perspective of a woman. Sarah explains how society views women alcoholics different from men alcoholics. There are many things that an alcoholic woman has to deal with that an alcoholic man does not have to deal with including rape. Many of these issues have not been explored, and Sarah is one of the first people to bring it to the attention of the public. Sarah makes sure that she is accountable and responsible for everything that happened in her life, and she does not blame her situation on anyone else.

    Just too short, but good
I like the book but literally only took 20 mins to read...and its just a brief analysis...I was expecting more, the description on the buy page gave me more interest than the book delivered... it was good to read about someone elses experience but more of a super summary , I will probably donate it to a good place tho, I know someone else can relate as I did, but ya just want more than a speedy summary from 3rd person
    Five Stars
I ordered this accidentally but kept it for the commentary - meant to just order the book!
    thumbs down
misleading. only a summary, nothing to it
No! I thought I was ordering the book. ...
No! I thought I was ordering the book. Not some guy's analysis of it.
Not recommended, make sure you know what you are ordering
This is just a SUMMARY of a book, not a real book. Why would anyone want to read this? It removes all the artistic value from the novel. Not recommended, make sure you know what you are ordering!!!

    Riepilogo Editore:

He is True to His Heart
I was somewhat reluctant to write a review of this book, because I did not want to appear to be biased. I knew Lisa and came to the hospital the night of the accident, along with Karl and another colleague and friend of Lisa. Our intent was not only to be by Lisa's side as she fought for her life, but also to be a source of strength for Thomas Pierce, her father. Well, as it turned out, Thomas was our source of strength as he consoled us. I still find it amazing how he remained so calm, upbeat, friendly and sincere. He was a beacon of light in an intensive care ward that was quite gloomy.
The book is amazing! What I can say is that Thomas Pierce's telling of the story of this tragedy and his family's life is completely authentic and from the heart. His positive attitude displayed in his writing is exactly how he was that night in the hospital. You can't help but feel as though you are sitting in a room listening to him, or, he has written this book in the form of a letter to you personally. Such a feat is not easily accomplished by even the most experienced writers. "The Last Rose" is one of the most awe-inspiring books I have ever read. Thomas Pierce has now provided me with the answers to how and why he has taken this tragedy and turned it into an amazing, uplifting story for all who reads it.
The Last Rose has changed my life in a very positive way.
The account of the tragic event in the author's life and how he found a way to turn that tragedy into a tribute to the power of love is truly amazing. I think everyone who has suffered a loss(and who hasn't) will find comfort and be inspired by the philosophy put forward in this book.
    Inspiration
"The Last Rose" is the most beautiful and inspiring book I have ever read. For anyone who has recently (or not) lost a loved one, it is heart warming and comforting at the very least. I am having all my friends and family read it.
