Bob Hope made his radio debut on NBC in May 1937. He became a top-rated fixture on Tuesday nights with his theme song, "Thanks for the Memories". His legendary broadcasts from military bases around the world helped boost American morale during the dark days of World War II. Over the years, his radio regulars included Jerry Colonna, Brenda and Cobina, Vera Vague, Wendall Niles, and orchestras led by Skinnay Ennis and Les Brown. Featured singers on the show included Judy Garland, Frances Langford, Doris Day, and Gloria Jean.

Hope's radio career lasted well into the mid-1950s. By then, he had become a major movie and television star. He died on July 29, 2003, at the age of 100.

Title: Claudia, Volume 14

Author: James Thurber

Narrator: full cast

Format: Original Recording

Length: 6 hrs and 57 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-01-16

Publisher: Dreamscape Media, LLC

Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Comedy & Variety

Publisher's Summary:

The tale of Claudia and David Naughton, newlyweds, just beginning their married life. Young, enthusiastic, and very much in love, they weren't suffering from any medical maladies or suspicions of infidelity. Instead, they were simply facing the many challenges of any new marriage - finding an apartment, getting used to each other's quirks, and learning to live together on a daily basis. Lacking many of the characteristics of a traditional soap opera, Claudia didn't offer the anguish and heartbreak that typified such long-running soaps as Valiant Lady, Backstage Wife, and Ma Perkins - and, being sponsored by Coca-Cola, it even lacked the traditional sponsorship of a soap company. But the very elements it was lacking quickly became its strengths: with very few of the 'tune in tomorrow' hooks that most soaps used to lure listeners back the next day, people returning to Claudia instead came back for the interesting, fully developed characters and the light-hearted banter between them.
