Oregon's economy faces some real challenges if and when the state adopts the Habitat Conservation Plan. OH, it sounds all environmental but there's some serious issues with this plan, issues that could devastate many counties. Listen to find out why and the fact that you are not being told.
Oregonians passed a gun law that many are sorry was ever on the ballot. It's tied up in the courts for now but it's a mess. We'll talk with two folks working to rid the state of this law (114) but there is also a warning for folks in other parts of the country. The folks who come up with these gun laws are testing it in Oregon and targeting your state as well.
As Truth becomes more important, we intend to show you more places to find it. It's tough when you have a job, life and family to take care of. We ran across this young man in Oregon who got fed up with the lies about the Timber Industry so instead of getting mad he started a podcast. Here's his story.
It usually takes something tragic or drastic to give us the courage it takes to truly change our lives. We search but stumble and usually those trips and skips are at the same place. We try to get past them but instead need to walk through them. The man you are about to meet has made this journey over and over and finally found the trust he needs to move on. This is an inspiring story and I hope you take the time to listen.
In Oregon a group of folks who live along a popular fishing river are nervous. The Eugene Water and Electric Board is moving forward with a plan to remove a dam, destroy a lake and business owners aren't sure why. There are many twists and turns to this story. But bottomline is ratepayers will end up footing the bill which at this point is not completely known. Yeh, makes you wonder as rates soar, why do this now? We'll talk about that.
I met this guy in the locker room at our gym in Helena Montana. Until today I knew nothing about his politics but what I did hear in his words and wisdom were thoughts from the past. Thoughts that still work or could. He inspired me and then told me his great, great maybe one more great grandfather was Eugene Skinner, the founder of the town I just spent the last 30 plus years working in. At 82 this guy has some pearls of wisdom that should not be wasted on swine. Enjoy.
The couple you are about to listen to will amaze you. I was having a rough day and this conversation put life into perspective. She was told almost a year ago she had a year to live....she's still here, obviously. What they have learned, the plans for the future and the attitude it takes to battle and win a terminal disease.
Truth about timber. The Modern Mill
Lumber mills are becoming so efficient it will amaze you.
There is a market for every inch of that log.
Dust, bark, chips and scraps all are either sold or used to power the mill.
In our second of a series called “The Truth About Timber”, the truth is most mills don’t operate the way they used to.
Its high tech, camera’s, computers and it all translates into better sustainability and a huge reduction in waste.
We recently spent some time at the Hampton Lumber Mill in Warrenton, Oregon.
It’s impressive what they do, how they do it and most importantly why?
It's easy to worship tradition and religion and forget about God. It's also easy to see that failure in other religions but not our own. Tonight we unpack the Amish tradition a bit with two men who left. They will tell us what that is like and discuss something much more broad and deep....a lasting relationship with God not religion.
His name is all over the internet, Colin Davis McCarthy. He's the man who took a wad of hundred dollar bills and threw them on an interstate in Oregon to get rid of what he calls Blood Money. He's got a past, as we all do but his, but he says his caused him to be silent about a sexual assault that was happening to him repeatedly. His story is complicated and he has those who don't believe him. So we decided to hear his story and ask some difficult questions.
