'This is the time to run away, she thinks, to call it a mistake, to race back to home and safety. If I don't go home I will never feel safe again.'
On meeting Micajah Burnett, the son of an old school friend, Eve Armanton is faced with a choice. Years of a miserable marriage means she's as broken as the beautiful antique violin she's just found, and Micajah offers a spark of life, an opportunity to reawaken her sense.
If Eve takes a leap into this new world, she'll be leaving behind her old self for good. Her happiness depends on forging a new life, but at the end of her journey, who will Eve have become?
Critic Reviews:
"It is a ravishing love story, hot-blooded, poignant, often dark, filled with yearning, sharply funny, marvellously observed...I wished it would go on and on and never stop." (Joanna Lumley)
"At last. A sexy and serious novel that deals with that persistent prejudice - love between an 'older woman' and a younger man. Sensational." (Rachel Johnson)
"Absolutely terrific: powerful, beautifully paced, controlled and assured." (Elizabeth Buchan)
"Intriguing, sexy and honest." (Joanna Briscoe)
"Say My Name is a dazzling debut about a highly-charged and very sensual affair. Skilfully crafted, original and beautifully written, I loved it!" (Santa Montefiore)
Members Reviews:
Beautiful story, beautifully written.
Fini! This book is beautifully written, well paced, charming...really, a tour de force. I wasn't sure what I, a lesbian, might glean from a straight, erotic, book, but found, as a writer, to have inadvertently taken a masterclass in writing! Regardless of genre, it is a beautiful story, with even a tad something to perk my loins, thank you. Pick it up!
It was well written and just great overall
How do you figure out the path that your life is supposed to be on when everything that you thought was right comes to an end? That is the question that Allegra Huston poses in Say My Name. A story about a woman who loses her husband, and finds herself through a temporary relationship with someone much younger.
Eve Armanton is 48 years old. She and her husband have a son who is taking a gap year from college. He is a medical student, so this time will assist him with his education. She and her husband are miserable in their current relationship, he is going through some sort of midlife crisis and calls things off with her.
Micajah Burnett is 28 years old and the son of an old family friend. He is a musician, and it is through his love of music that they will come together and experience a time of growth and self-discovery that will change their lives forever.
Eve finds an antique violin while antiquing. The violin is broken and Micajah helps her to fix it. This book was really enjoyable. I enjoyed the fact that this was an older woman dating a younger man. I also enjoyed the fact that the ending of the book was realistic. I enjoyed this book as a journey, the journey was for Eve to find herself outside of being a mother and a wife, she found herself as a woman. And in her life, this was the best thing that could have happened to her. It was well written and just great overall.
