Where does No Place to Hide rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this book for not being run of the mill. At first I had no idea where it was going and enjoyed the journey.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Place to Hide?

The discovery of her Grandmother's house.

What does Katherine Fenton bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?

I enjoy being read to and Katherine Fenton tells a good story.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was disapointed at the end that things were so quickly wrapped up, perhaps because I was enjoying the story.

If you could sum up No Place to Hide in three words, what would they be?

A cracking read/listen. I liked the characters, although hated the name pof the young child Lulla! I have read many of Susan's books, and this ranks up with the best.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Place to Hide?

I liked the way of going back and forth in time. Won't spoil it for anyone else planning to read it by saying - but it involved Ben.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Fentons other performances? How does this one compare?

I believe I have - she is rally very good. Doesn't over-act.

Yes, if I had that amount of time!

If the other two were good then shouldn't this one be just as entertaining

I have never read anything by Jane Austen. That hasn't been by conscious choice, it's just something that has never occurred to me to do. I have seen bits and pieces of movies based on her books but never watched one beginning to end. What little I have picked up or seen regarding Austen's work was enough to tell me that I probably wouldn't be interested in her writing. So why read a book that is based upon Jane Austen's work? Because the author has written two other books whose plots have been based upon books and I found both of those works to be highly enjoyable. If the other two were good then shouldn't this one be just as entertaining?

The story is told in two timelines. The first involves Jane Austen and her relationship with a retired cleric, Richard Mansfield. The second timeline occurs in the present and involves an Oxford grad student named Sophie Collingwood that has just completed her studies and is now looking for a job. Sophie is the heroine of the story and a bibliophile thanks to the influence of her Uncle Bertram. I did not think the plot as well conceived as those of the other two books I've read by this author but it was still good. However, I imagine Jane Austen fans will probably consider this book to be something of a sacrilege. If that be the case I would point out that the author makes several mentions of Austen's book "Northanger Abbey" being meant as a satire of the then current popularity of gothic novels. I could be wrong but this book might just be the author's attempt to satirize Austen fans as Jane did gothic novel fans in her day. Again, I have not read any Austen at all but I suspect the characters and their relationships does seem to be similar to what I know of Austen's work. So maybe the author is having a little fun at the expense of Austen fans, I will leave that for each of you to decide for yourselves.

The plot unfolds after Sophie takes a job with an antiquarian book dealer following the death of her beloved uncle that she finds suspicious. In the course of her new job she receives an assignment to track down a specific book by Richard Mansfield. The importance of this book is that it may prove that "Pride and Prejudice" was plagiarized by Austen and was actually the work of Rev. Mansfield. The search for this book takes Sophie on a journey through literary history and history of her own family and the lives of two suitors that she encounters along the way. This is not great literature, this book is just fun, a quick read, and entertaining.

Another Romantic Suspense That Is More Suspense Than Romance

"Trust no one.

THE STORY: Grace Elland is getting emails from her dead boss. Grace believes in a positive outlook that is threatened when she discovers her motivational speaker boss murdered. The vodka bottle next to his body thrusts her into memories of when she had to kill to escape another murderer. Grace returns to her mother's home in order to figure out what she will do with her life. On a horrible blind date, she meets Julius Arkwright a successful venture capitalist who is so successful that he is bored with making money. Although their date went poorly, the attraction between them is immediate. When Grace is in danger from a stalker, Julius comes to her aid. As the past and the present dangers threaten them, Grace and Julius try to figure out what their relationship will be.

OPINION: This novel is a book of definite opposites. The interactions between Grace and Julius are cute because while Grace is a positive person who thinks up witty aphorisms, Julius has the motto of "trust no one." Their witty banter is a highlight of the book. This is a fast paced story and the suspense story is the way that the relationship between Grace and Julius are explored. I enjoyed much about this book. The story is one that encourages page turning to find out the outcome and there are many twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. My complaint is that I think there is more suspense story here than romance. There is little conflict between Grace and Julius and thus their characters are not explored enough to make them interesting to me. It is difficult to see why the blind date didn't work out because these two quickly join forces. The characters emotional lives are as much a mystery at the end of the book as the beginning and thus as a reader, I didn't feel a deep connection with them. As a result, this is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading once, but probably won't remember in a month.

WORTH MENTIONING: I am a big fan of Jayne Ann Krentz and many of her books are on my all time favorites list. I do, however, prefer romance to suspense so when her books trend toward the suspense end, I tend to be less satisfied with them.

FINAL DECISION: I liked TRUST NO ONE. The story was interesting and I enjoyed it, but because the characters and their relationship is not well defined, this is a one time read for me.

CONNECTED BOOKS: TRUST NO ONE is a standalone book.

STAR RATING: I give TRUST NO ONE 4 stars.

Murdery wrapped in mystery and love!

The usual woman with a mystery/murder stalking her and it was as good as it usually is. I like Ms. Krentz' characters because they aren't the most beautiful, the richest or the genius of the century.

Smooth interesting read

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Kaanapali Beach Paradise is a prettily written story that revolves around 3 different families. The story is written smoothly and the chararacters are interesting, but it ends without a conclusion, which I found offputting.

This is not a "novelette"

Rather than being a novelette which would have an ending, this is a series of sample champters from several different mystery stories set in Hawaii. I feel like I got charged for an advertisement. The writing is pretty amateurish too.

Refreshing!

I donât usually read books where the lead character is in her early twenties, given that Iâm more than a few years past that and prefer stories about people closer to my age. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think the main reason for that is that Lexi, the main character, is just so together. She has her shortcomings, one of them being that she lets people (i.e., her boss) repeatedly take advantage of her. However, sheâs a good example for young women. Although she does have a delightful love interest who adds charm to the story, the plot doesnât center on her interest in him and nothing else. Much of it involves her dissatisfaction with her career, and what she plans to do about it. Sheâs a kind and reasonable young woman with common sense, (for the most part), but I will say that she gets herself into a situation later in the book that seems a bit out of character. But hey, we all have our lapses in judgment. I loved her relationship with Jason, who is heavenly. On top of all that, this book is very well-written. Iâve noticed a couple of reviewers have mentioned poor editing, however, aside from the occasional typo, which occurs in practically any book, Iâm not sure what theyâre referring to. I was extremely impressed by this new author.

Hard Hats and Big Laughs

After reading Laura Chapman's blog, I knew that I HAD to read her debut novel. With her incredibly engaging and witty writing style, she always leaves you feeling good. And her book is no different! From the first few pages, I found myself engrossed in the world of Lexi Burke. As a former HR Manager, Lexi's work exploits made me downright cackle - and thank my lucky starts that I am not in that game anymore. Poor Lexi is bound and determined to prove her worth to her male dominated company by taking on every tough situation her boss throws at her. Enter the gorgeous and charming Southern gentleman, Jason Beaumont, and we find one giddy and slightly distracted Lexi. Her journey to finding happiness in both her career and personal life is long and bumpy, but she has a lovable and highly entertaining group of friends to help her along the way. Laura Chapman will make you laugh out loud, swoon in delight and well up with a just a few tears. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am hoping to see a sequel one day!
