    Publisher's Summary:
From USA TODAY best-selling author Alice Clayton, known for her "deliciously addictive" (The Book Vixen) novels, this Cocktail series novella reunites listeners with Caroline and Simon from the wildly successful Wallbanger.
Simon and Caroline are back for another round of baking, banging, and big life changes. Settling in, but never settling down, Caroline has finally struck a balance between the professional and the personal. As one of the top interior designers in San Francisco, she travels all over Northern California between nook time with Simon.
Perpetual globetrotter Simon has cut his frequent flyer miles in half over the last year, preferring to balance his professional and personal life, as well.
The next step in their lives seems preordained - toasts, veils, and the aisle of rose petals. But when an accident on a photo shoot in Southeast Asia brings Caroline the most terrifying phone call she could ever imagine, she has to ask whether "till death do us part" is a more realistic prospect than faces most couples.
It's been a grand adventure, and Caroline and Simon wouldn't go out without the best surprise ending ever. One part sexy, one part laughter, a dash of exotic locales, and one pink nightie, mixed with passion, and you've got Last Call. Served with a side of Clive.

Loved Every Minute of S & C to the End!
Joy, Fear, Hope, Sweet Sweet Simon and Caroline - these two are the ultimate couple, who manage to take life by the horns and LIVE IT!
I loved this series, specifically Wallbanger, Rusty Nailed and Last Call...when i read Wallbanger, I thought kind of silly, and yet laugh out loud funny - and ultimately sexy. The series is not gratuitous though the title suggests it - I have not read the other two, but these three books together, are amazing..an excellent trilogy. They may not be exciting for some, but they are funny, not absurdly so, I felt like we were taking some pages from the lives of true friends and you can see Sophie and Neal and Ryan and Mimi in your friends - through this series. No, no-one almost dies, no-evil plot is happening to take over one person with a sordid past, and yet you find yourself drawn in and flowing along the River that is the Simon and Caroline relationship. Both of them were living their lives until suddenly, the one they didn't "know" they were waiting for showed up. Simon and Caroline are a beautiful endearing couple. When there is a misunderstanding they work it out. Read these three books of this series, in order and Listen to them, while I thought this narrator was a little old sounding for this character, i grew to like her and her enthusiasm and I loved Caroline and Simon, they were sweet, flawed, loyal and beautiful - and Clive (the cat) was just a bonus - a really enjoyable bonus and I love how Simon falls in love with him and assumes he is part of his family and talks to him. So glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews on Rusty Nailed saying it was boring. For me these characters and their stories were anything but..and there was no more sex in Rusty Nailed than any other book and less than many. I have listened to so many series and this one was light, refreshing tender humanity - Don't Miss these three books of this series!!...either in the reading or the listening. It kind of evolved into a really fine wine.
    Last but Not Least
I absolutely adore the writing of Alice Clayton.

    You don't choose when.
    You don't choose where.
And you don't get to choose who you fall in love with.
The minute he opened his sexy mouth, Holliday Hughes should have known Jack Dalton was trouble. His smooth pickup lines, broad shoulders, and ridiculously handsome face charmed her right out of her clothes. She gave into her desires, the instant attraction blinding her to the obvious.
One night. That was all it took for Holliday's world to be flipped on its axis. Jack Dalton was cocky. Smug. Volatile. Demanding. He ignited something deep inside her like no other, but there was something more to this brooding bad boy. There was a dark side to him she couldn't help but be drawn to.
Torn between what she knew about him and a mysterious side he tried to hide, could she walk away or was he simply too hard to resist?
    Members Reviews:
    Rock on S L Scott!
Suzie, I love this story! I love all your stories but this one, who can resist a rock star. ;-) Holiday is refreshing, independent, a successful business woman, sexy and strong, but alone until she meets her Outlaw. Dalton lives the life of a the Rock Star, Johnny Outlaw, but he longs for someone to love him just as he is. All sides. His 'me', his Dalton, his broken Texan injured baseball player who's dad didn't love him and who feels empty by the adoration and expectations of fame, but also to be proud on the Rock Star for his success. Luckily with this story what happens in Begad doesn't stay there. Or one might say there is nothing lucky about it, is just LOVE.
The narrator did a wonderful job in the audible version. I could hear both the snarky voice of Holly and the sexy fire in Dalton's. take a walk on the wild side as this relationship tries to find balance between the reality of Fame and the Normalcy in finding a home with the one you love through the ups and downs of life.
    Wowza....
Would you consider the audio edition of The Resistance to be better than the print version?
That is the word that came out of me when I finished this story. Dalton, Johnny, Jack, Outlaw, or whatever name you want to call him is a human being first. Then fame happens, and he almost loses himself, but then he met Holliday, our heroine, and he bought himself a get out of hell card. Dalton shows how miserable the life of the rich and famous is. The path of their love is not smooth as it is supposed to be, but we can see how they work hard at it, and came out on top.
This story is kind of surreal for me. It has the same ambiance as rock star stories, but at the same time it is cleaner than most. Dalton did not once cheat on Holls, in fact, he is the one that has insecurities about her. He always was jealous of her friends, especially the male ones.
I love this story because of this rock star. He cuts a romantic figure. I am also so elated that this is a complete book, no cliffhanger and there is a HEA. I will be happy to read about how their life is 5, 10 years down the road later though. Sweet story. I will read books by this author again.
What other book might you compare The Resistance to and why?
    Maybe 'Reckless' by SC Stephens.
Which character as performed by Alexandria Watts was your favorite?
    Dalton of course.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes. Cry in some places. Don't want to say.

    Publisher's Summary:
Preservationist Meri Hollis loves her latest project, restoring one of Newport's forgotten Gilded Age mansions. And with summer approaching, she'll be able to spend more time with her Gran on the Rhode Island shore. She has a great job, a loving family and she's pretty sure her boyfriend is going to propose on her thirtieth birthday. But everything Meri believes about family, happiness, truth, and love is shattered when her family's darkest secret is exposed.
Thirty years before, Meri's neighbor and friend, Alden Corrigan, took his father's dinghy out to fish. In a sudden storm, he rushed to help a woman stranded on the breakwater. She was just a girl... a very pregnant girl who disappeared soon after they reached safety - but not before she left behind a very special gift. Now that the truth it out, life will change for everyone in Breakwater Bay, and Meri and Alden will have to make decisions that could insure their future together - or separate them for good.
    Critic Reviews:
"[T]he intense romance that builds between Meri and Alden is slow, careful, and full of possibilities." (Sarah Eisenbraun, RT Book Reviews)
    Members Reviews:
    Wasted Potential
Breakwater Bay had lots of potential with the backdrop of Newport's historic mansions, solving a family mystery, a feisty grandmother and sarcastic teen. However, I didn't connect with the 2 main characters Meri (30) and Alden (42).
First, I couldn't get over the idea that Aldan helped babysit Meri - their families were neighbors- and Meri treated Alden like a combination big brother/favorite uncle. When they started having sex as adults, it almost felt like incest.
Mostly, they both acted so wimpy. When Meri's boyfriend moved to California, she didn't seem to care but still acted like she wanted to marry him. Alden allowed his bitchy ex-wife to tell him how and when he could see his children, as if there was no custody agreement.
The author has obvious talent, so would try another book by Shelley Noble. The narrator was okay but didn't do an authentic New England ascent.

This was one sexy, emotional, thriller story. I listened to it three times. Great story and great narrator. The was Ms. Bennett does Sergei's Russian accent was stellar.
    Nice quick listen
For being such a short story it is quite entertaining. It has a lot of action and suspense. There is some romance too But not a lot of build up. The Ending still managed to surprise me. For me it was a fun story but not worth a credit. Maybe if its on sale then its worth it or if you have the amazing new romance package.

    A rating...
    My Review:
    Overall.... 4.5
    Performance... 4.5
    Story.... 4.5
I think this is a first for me...a golf pro hero and I really liked that...even with all the corny golf catch-phrases and puns that the author threw into the book because of his career.
Brett's home in the middle of his golf season because of a leaked sex tape that he made two years ago. It's the final straw after years of playboy ways and his main sponsor has told him to get his act together. So he's home...supposedly to lay low. What doesn't factor into that plan is Joey, the girl he knew once upon a time and who's also back in town.
Josephine's life has not gone according to plan after she discovers her fiancee isn't quite as committed to them as she thought he was or should be. So now she's home, to reinvent the inn she inherited used to dream about with her aunt. I loved that aspect of this story. Joey is a society girl, always expected to act a certain way, unless she was with her aunt...who taught her to dream and expect great things from herself...she has the ability to fly. She wants to embrace that now and bring all the things that she and her aunt discussed about the inn to fruition.
I loved that Brett sees her vulnerability. Joey is a strong, outspoken, awesome character, and no one ever gets to see her tender underbelly besides him. He sees her and loves her despite all that...and despite all the concerns his family has about her. And that brings me to the only downside I found to this book...Brett's grandmother. She was evil...and not in the "bless your heart" kind of way. I hated this bitter, vindictive woman, and her rabble of lackey's. I thought they were mean, and vindictive and cruel. No matter what happened there, their friend shared her dreams with Joey and Joey was trying to honor that. I could NOT handle this aspect of the story and really wish it hadn't been there.
But I did love the book despite that. I liked Brett and how he simply can't stay away from Joey. I love Joey and her dreams for a better world thanks to her aunt.

    A very touching read
    Any additional comments?
I have wanted to read this authors work for a long time when I got this in the mail I thought now would be a great time. When I found it on audible I knew I could get it listened to fast than I could read it so I picked it up. This author hooked me from the first page as Skylar relived her helicopter crash in Afghanistan, her capture and her torture it really grabs your heart pulling you in. Those are scene you wont forget for a while. PTSD has to be one of the worse things anyone could live through with few knowing just what it is like unless you have had to deal with it. I feel Ms. McKenna put a lot of though into writing this story right down to the PTSD giving you a compelling read. You feel the pain each character goes through from her being talked her down to her father and their issues. This is a story that really touched me.
Mr. Salerno as a narrator gives a wonderful listen I thought his male and female voices were wonderful. There are no background noises, repeat words, or any high or low of the volume. If he took a break you could not tell. He puts emotion in to the read making you feel each characters emotion whether that be happy, sad, or scared. He had my heart in my throat with the bear scene your heart really goes out to these animals. The narrator gives you an even tone clear audio that pulls you in as you picture the scenes in your mind with no trouble at all. For me Grayson voice didnt work for me I thought it was a little flat I did love all the other. One of my favorite was their boss she is such a wonderful sweet lady trying to help others get through tough times which shows through the narrators voice. When the characters go through some trying times the narrator has you on the edge waiting to see how it turned out there was more than once I held my breath. I really enjoyed this narrator and look forward to listening to more from him.
Skylar has so much going on from her own PSTD just trying to hang on rebuilding her life to her family and how they are dealing with her issues. Things are not so easy going in this town not everyone is thrilled as the author spins a little suspense in taking the story in another way. With all that is going on I found it believable that Skylar being an RN would over look the signs and not put two and two together over her health issues (I do not want to give the story away).

Serial stalkers made for each other! Way overboard
Would you try another book from J. S. Cooper and Helen Cooper and/or Stephanie Rose?
Don't think I'd go back to these authors
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Both of them have major issues-like I said on #2 certifiable! But as if the plot wasn't random and serial stalker creepy enough, along comes book 3! There were some steamy scenes but I really can't get over the plot which seems to change direction over and over for the sake of twists not to better the actual story. Series as a whole- a very generous 3/5
What about Stephanie Roses performance did you like?
    Very good narrator
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    Hell no
    Ultimate Revenge!!!!!!

    Great short story
I can't lie I was in love whit this book there is so many twist and turns in this book it was amazing I could not stop when I started!!! I loved it

    Ohh the Narrators
Would you ever listen to anything by A .L. Jackson again?
    YES I like the writing
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Ohh the narrator makes the story a love it or hate it story. The narrator for Jared is all wrong and we he does a female voice it was so annoying. I just couldn't get past it.
    Any additional comments?
    Story line was great
    Bad narration
The story is ok for the young adult it is but what ruins it is when you change narrators from the first book and none of them were that good. When she does the male parts it's like nails on a chalkboard to me I don't why it just is. I really like all the other books by this author in audible.
    Good ending
I think that the audiobook version of this book was well done. The story maybe had just a little bit too much angst for me to really enjoy it. But the ending was great and the story flowed smoothly. Nice narration
Even the broken souls need love.
A.L. Jackson is simply amazing I have always loved her style of writing which shows how talented she really is. She has a way of bringing out the feeling out of each character and makes you feel as if you were there.
This book really had me in a ball of emotions: pain, hurt, love, grief, heartbreak, insecurity. All wrapped up in one. As Jared struggles with the pain and suffering of loosing his mother so many years ago he's blind to see how he hurts Alley. Coming to grips with his faults and demons Jared is finally forced to get help or he will loose Alley and the forever. He finally goes to California to confront his dad but little does he know is that his dad has in some at moves on. His father also opens up to Jared and explains everything that happened hoping that Jared will forgive him for bailing out on him.
Alley being the beautiful soul that she is she has always loved Jared and and will wait for him as long as it takes until he makes his way back to her. I
    Ok
Story was ok it was a bit to drawn out. The narrator For Jarod was horrible! When he talked to Alie I almost couldn't get through the book. :(

    Unlikely Pair
Rock star and Doctor? Certainly not what I would call a compatible couple. But ended up being a cute story. Loved the teenage daughter with the attitude. She was cute and funny as she tried to play cupid between her dad and the lady. I see that Abigail Strom has written other books. So I can only hope that they will become available on audio before long. The two narrator's of this book were very good. It was a pleasure to hear the female voice done by a female. And the male voice done by a male narrator. Really put a nice touch on the book for me.

This is a great story. I have read this three times. I. Sincerely recommend her writing to all readers. Wonderful storyline, great characters, and GRAMMATICALLY correct. As an old retired teacher, this is. Very entertaining.
    Snore....
The good news is that there isnt all that ridiculous over the top damaged soul drama. The bad news is there is very little drama at all. Just not very deep and kind of boring. If it werent for r.c. bray and his great narration it might have been too boring. If all you are looking for is a romance novel then this might be for you. Just didnt keep me tied to my ear buds. At times I forgot I was wearing them.
Poorly written book, pure waist of my time...
