    Good Morning Irene from Amazon
This story was my introduction to Sherlock Holmes. It was a short story that was published in a newspaper and one of the few times Holmes is outwitted, this time by a woman. What sparked my interest was book discovered in a local bookstore titled Chapel Noir: An Irene Adler Mystery by Carole Nelson Douglas, the fourth book in the series. It's the continuation of Irene Adler after Scandal in Bohemia. I already ordered the first book, Good Morning Irene from Amazon. It will be a summer read. As to Mr. Holmes! I plan to read more and join the only Holmes Society on the West Coast in my neck of the Gold Country.
    Fast Read
After watching the series Sherlock from BBC I decided I was going to go back and read the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books. The Sherlock episode was entitled A Scandal in Belgravia versus Bohemia. They were very faithful to the book despite it being modernized. I read this book in under 2 hours it was that good. I will read his others as I have the time. I would recommend this book for an insight into Sherlock himself.
    a good read
I had seen the TV version which was very interesting with a confusing plot.so I wanted the book version to read. And it was not disappointing but I am a Sherlock Holmes nut.
    Conan Doyle never disappoints
This brief classic tale has become iconic. It is much quoted in spin off stories written by others. Indeed, Irene Adler is a clever woman!

    Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd

    Genres: Classics, British Literature
    Publisher's Summary:
Penguin Classics presents James Joyces Dubliners, adapted for audio and available as a digital download as part of the Penguin English Library series.
"Every night as I gazed up at the window I said softly to myself the word paralysis. It had always sounded strangely in my ears.... But now it sounded to me like the name of some maleficent and sinful being. It filled me with fear, and yet I longed to be nearer to it and to look upon its deadly work."
From a child grappling with the death of a fallen priest, to a young womans dilemma over whether to elope to Argentina with her lover, to the dance party at which a man discovers just how little he really knows about his wife, these 15 stories bring the gritty realism of existence in Joyces native Dublin to life.
With Dubliners, James Joyce reinvented the art of fiction, using a scrupulous, deadpan realism to convey truths that were at once blasphemous and sacramental.
Part of a series of vintage recordings taken from the Penguin Archives. Affordable, collectable, quality productions - perfect for on-the-go listening.

Truly well written. I could never get very far in Ulysses, but Dubliners showcases Joyce's incredible literary talents in a more conventional form.

who would know better than james joyce? i ask for it and he gave it to me "good, bad and ugly"
My copy was in very good condition for a used book
My copy was in very good condition for a used book. The book itself is great quality- Norton Critical Editions provide excellent footnotes that are especially helpful for interpreting local Dublin slang. Note: The sexual content mentioned mostly is, like so much of the conflict in the Dubliners, implied. However, it would be false to suggest there is no sexual content.
    Defective printed publication
Book had blank pages. For example pages blank included n the count so incomplete,
probably one of the finest in the English Language
Classic stories. If you don't usually read short stories buy this book anyway and read the last story, The Dead, probably one of the finest in the English Language.

    Stoker's first published story
This is beautifully written and beautifully performed. It sounds more like poetry then a story. The story is not really scary, but is intense with feeling. It is written in three parts from the perspective of three different people. The first part is very intense with sentences like "He gazed with bursting eye balls.". The ending is a surprise.
    The narrator is excellent.

Our hero, Etienne Gerard, is a Hussar in the French army. His vanity is all encompassing; he is utterly convinced that he is the bravest soldier, most masterful swordsman and horseman throughout the whole of France, not to mention being a much in demand and gallant lover! Conan Doyle's humour is satirical, artful and instrinsic, and makes for an entertaining listen.
