Very good church leadership book

Larry has clearly worked through many mistakes to arrive at the biblical wisdom in his book. While I may not agree with every perspective, overall it reads like a Spirit-lead body of helpful insights. Highly recommend.

A Must Book For Leaders

This is a must book to read for young leaders who wants to avoid disaster in their church leadership team as well as for seasoned leaders who wants to polish their skills.

Its neccessary for every church, leader and pastor

I love the idea that I can learn so practically from many pastors in the world. But few can be as clear and as biblical as Larry Osborne in this books. This is worth a course in Seminary for me. Nobody has taught so clearly to my Latin America church reality event though maybe it wasn't written to churches in my culture. I recommend it 100%

Excellent, St John of the Cross is amazing in teaching one to strive for union with God here and in Eternity.

All of St. John of the Cross' books are wonderful, including this one. It definitely helps to deepen your faith and love of God.

This book is Absolutely inspiring and helpful to those who strive to be "perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect".

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

The narrator was a little heavy on the accent at times, but overall done well.

a great spiritual book, StJohn is methodical and brief in his treatment of relayong necessary truths. the speaker helped a lot and was enjoyable to listen to. the book was never finished by St John but it was great for what he did write and is completely worthwhile to read. to grow in the spiritual life, this is certainly a great place to start once one wishes to choose Him for His own sake and not His favours

I'm just beginning my journey to Carmel. I did have some difficulty understanding this work. I'm glad I listened instead of reading this work. It helped to return to certain spots over and over until I could understand what he was saying.

NOT the books - 90s sermons from Rick Warren

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This audio is VERY misleading. The content is actually sermons (messages) given by Rick Warren at Saddleback Church from (based on pop culture references he makes) sounds like they're from early 90s. Also intersperced in the audio are multiple testimonies from individuals attending Saddleback's Celebrate Recovery program. While appreciate testimonies, there are so many they this entire thing sounds like an advertisement to join Celebrate Recovery.

I was really hoping this audio was actually an audiobook of the four booklets written by Baker for CR. It is not. Do NOT spend your money or credits on this if you were actually looking for a book.

I enjoyed this audiobook, the flow was done well. I would highly recommend the book to those seeking a closer walk with God.

Step by step guided intro into meaning meditation.

I appreciate the sincere, simple instructions; the clear direction; and, the encouragement to persist.

This book is the best guide I have found for achieving a deeper, closer walk with God.

If you have ever wondered about the practice of meditation, this is an excellent place to start. Ruth Barton began as an ordinary person hungering for something more. She provides the biblical basis, explores the benefits, and outlines the simple yet challenging practice of silence and solitude. An excellent start for those wanting to go further in their intimacy with God.

Required reading when exhausted ...

Started listening to the book when I was on a two-week vacation and didn't really relate. ... Then the new job with all the travel hit and I was so ready for Ruth's story. Solidarity and silence = staying centered and sane.

Great listen.

I had never heard of Tony Evans before but I read the reviews on the audible website and I decided to try the book. I will be reading more of his books. He is a great speaker, puts forth his message in a plain spoken entertaining way that makes you want to be a better man, better husband, better father, better friend, and a better human being.

A series of partial sermons by Dr. Evans

While it was worth listening to, this book is a series of partial sermons on the theme of being a man of God though many of the points apply to women as well. I did not catch an order to the messages so it didn't feel like they were building on each other but rather were a series of disjointed partial messages that pertain to men. Not at all what I was expecting when I bought this book. That said though, it was good and it did make some good points about living a godly life. i especially liked some of the insights into Peter that Dr. Evans provided.

A true blessing of encouragement & direction

This is by far one of the most amazing books I have read in awhile. Not only as a man, but as someone who is trying to become a true man of God it is truly a must read or listen!

Christian Biography nut

This is one of the best books I have listened to so far.

Not only is the story of this great Christian one to capture the heart and mind but it is very well done and the narrator Simon Vance is wonderful to listen to. I only wish he did more books.

A spiritual giant.

I feel truly dwarfed as I stand in the shadow of these two spiritual giants, Oswald & Biddie Chambers. Thank you David McCasland for giving us a glimpse at the man, Oswald Chambers.

Oswald chambers was a man who relied on God in a way which is rarely seen. I gained much encouragement from a man of such faith through this book. Also, knowing his life story makes his other works (which his wife compiled) so much more meaningful. Great book, great performance.

Great book!

Although I do not agree with all the authors points of view; it is still a must read/listen for Christians.

Many will find some denominational differences. Try and put those aside and listen to the content.

I enjoyed Dr Moreland as an Apologetics professor. this work brings back great memories and is compelling and refreshing. he brings the necessity of training our minds and expresses the need to revitalize our churches in the rigors of thoughtful study... to regain the ground once lost to the secular world.

Thought provoking and inspirational!

This book really explains the importance of having a well cultivated mind and and introduces many tools to attain this.

More important than ever

This book was written in the mid 90s but it is still completely relevant today maybe even more so, Unfortunately.

J.P. States a good case for us to seek a full understanding of what we believe to be true as followers of Christ by developing the intellectual part of our duties as Christians.

His conclusion in the end chapters for the changes we need to see in our American church seem "radical" but are practical and thought through solutions to real problems in our local congregations. I appreciate him proposing a solution rather than just describing a problem. It's definitely a good read that makes you evaluate your intellectual dedication to God rather than the typical plea for "sincerity of faith" found in more popular writings.

J. P. Moreland uses some powerful arguments and has some phenomenal insight and wisdom in presenting his case for loving God with all your mind. This is a challenging book and a must read!!!

Exceptional book, topic with major flaw at end.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would highly recommend this book for anyone seeking a reasonable, rational exposition on a Christian worldview and a vigorous and needed dissembling of Darwinian scientism.This is a great book for a Christian thinker and a good challenge to the feel good wave of Christianity that is doing great damage to the Church, ceding precious ground to secularists who seek to compartmentalize Christianity as just another form of spiritism and to simply dismiss it from public debate in the areas of science, history, etc. This book asserts that the naturalist/materialist worldview is as religious as any other belief system cloaking itself in science, and that it's a worldview that shuns all truth that does not conform to their naturalist paradigm.The major flaw in this book is in the fourth section, where Pearcey discusses the evangelist movement in the colonies and later United States. She reveals her personal bias. She's obviously Reformed/Lutheran and dismisses any theological challenge to Calvinism as "anti-intellectual." While this section is still filled with worthwhile history, her conclusions are the weakest in the entire book and is rather sad way to end what is otherwise an amazing thesis on the Christian Worldview.

Satisfying, Genuine, Scholarly

Who was your favorite character and why?

Though it wasn't a narrative, it definitely had characters (hundreds of philosophers, scientists, ministers and more were cited!) My favorite was Francis Schaeffer, a powerful witness who showed true hospitality and love towards those he ministered to.

What about Kate Readings performance did you like?

I read the book at 3x the normal speed so her pronunciation and accurate rendition of the work's construction were invaluable.

From topic to topic it remains engaging and illuminating. Articulates the historical path and alterations made to the Christian worldview. Isolates where its been altered and by what influential hand. Enables the reader to connects the dots. Come to a fuller understanding as to the decline of the Christian worldview as an integral component in the active world. Illustrates the damage done through secular worldview. Eventually realizing the truth of the Christian worldview. Reinstituting the redemptive foundational Christian worldview is a last bastion of society

Excellent content

I'm really glad I listened to this book. It summarizes various worldviews and explains their origins. It is likely harder to listen than to read this book due to the dense and specific nature of the content. However I'm so glad I could listen to it during my commute. I highly recommend this to any Christian wanting to think critically about their and others worldviews.

Both are very helpful books to know about God as someone who was raised as a Christian, but overwhelmed at studying the Bible.
