Publisher's Summary:
Culled from the Buddha's teaching, contemporary literature, and the author's own life lessons, this book is a gently humorous, powerful, yet sweet gathering of story-poems, offered as a help when listened to or recalled at the time when they are most needed. Those practicing meditation may find refreshment, joy, and a challenge to apply their practice in daily life; others may find an observant and empathetic voice in these lines.

Wonderful if it motivates you to practice
Dear Fellow Practioner and Reader, This little gem of a book has many reflections of the Dhamma, but it is not the Dhamma. To my limited knowledge, no person ever reached Nirvana by reading a book. If it motivates you to practice, then good.
The stories are very entertaining. Practice is not entertainment, at least genuine practice isn't.
The stories are icing on the cake, if you will; they are the dessert. The hard work that went into being able to express them so glibly comes from practice, which sometimes can "seem" like a desert instead of a dessert, but can also be very eye-opening and gradually awakening. When you finally make a commitment to practice, then the real work begins. Buddha did not teach Buddhism, he taught Dhamma - the way reality is.
Wishing you the best practice.
Absolutely love this book
Absolutely love this book. I first found it while serving a Vipassana course and it's lessons have stayed with me forever. Wonderful poems, for inspiration and reflection.

Whereabouts - Here and Now
As a person who occasionally reads poetry of ancient hermits, monks, and nuns who have marveled at the changing beauty and suffering of life, I find this poetry to reflect those attitudes and yet be the voice of a lay person integrated into the modern world.
With the right word, turn of a phrase, or observation, the poet reveals gems of wisdom encrusted in sand of the mundane world. He uses mindfulness cultivated through Vipassana meditation to gently brush aside the sand so we can share his "aha."
In this case we do not need to imagine ourselves with the ancient hermit "somewhere on the mount,
cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown," for this poetry brings it to life here and now.
