    Title: Dragnet: Big Informant
    Author: John Robinson
    Narrator: Jack Webb
    Format: Original Recording
    Length: 29 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-25-07
    Publisher: Radio Spirits, Inc.
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 6 votes
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
From 1949 to 1957, Dragnet pioneered new levels of realism on radio. Every crime investigated by Sergeant Joe Friday was taken from the actual case files of the Los Angeles Police Department, with only "the names changed to protect the innocent". There were multi-layered sound effects; the actors used accurate police lingo, abbreviations, and penal codes; and the show didn't shy away from stories about heinous crimes or stories that had unhappy endings. Created and produced by Jack Webb, Dragnet was much more than "just the facts".
    Critic Reviews:
"By far the most popular police/crime program of all time. It enjoyed enormous success on radio." (Jon David Swartz and Robert C. Reinehr, Handbook of Old-Time Radio)

    Great friends.
I guess if the police department is always following a person, the life has being lived by an upstanding citizen. WHEW! Good sound quality.
    Nostalgia radio from 1953
That was fun! This short story is a Dragnet radio show from 1953 including the full intro and the commercials. I was 9 years old when it was first broadcast so it brings back memories. The star of course was Jack Webb playing Sargent Joe Friday of LAPD. The sound quality is excellent.

    Release date: 02-02-07

Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!" From 1930-1954, the wealthy Lamont Cranston was one of the best-known characters on radio, using his mystical powers to fight crime. The only person who knew The Shadow's true identity was his "friend and companion, the lovely Margot Lane". Through the years, The Shadow was portrayed by Frank Readick, Orson Welles, Bill Johnstone, Bret Morrison, and others. As listeners were reminded at the end of every episode, "The weed of crime bears bitter fruit. Crime does not pay! The Shadow knows!"
    Critic Reviews:
"As one of the basic prototypes of what has come to be called Pop Art, the Shadow is unique and irreplaceable, a legend in his own time. A classic character who looms slouch hat and shoulders above all others of his kind, he is an inevitable as a guilty conscience, an unseen power that awakens within all of us our most deep-rooted fears of mortal retribution. There has never been a force quite like him." (Jim Harmon, The Great Radio Heroes)

    Quick, old time story
If you remember the wonderful stories on the radio as freshly aired, or reruns on late night radio, you know The Shadow has a great following. This story is about murder, extortion, and like all other The Shadow programs, ends with the criminal being caught. A fun family program.

    Great The Shadow episode
The sound quality was good, not good enough to compete against road noise, but good enough for listening at home. A great story. I loved the ads for coal heating, it was a reminder of a different time.
