"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!" From 1930-1954, the wealthy Lamont Cranston was one of the best-known characters on radio, using his mystical powers to fight crime. The only person who knew The Shadow's true identity was his "friend and companion, the lovely Margot Lane". Through the years, The Shadow was portrayed by Frank Readick, Orson Welles, Bill Johnstone, Bret Morrison, and others. As listeners were reminded at the end of every episode, "The weed of crime bears bitter fruit. Crime does not pay! The Shadow knows!"
    Critic Reviews:
"As one of the basic prototypes of what has come to be called Pop Art, the Shadow is unique and irreplaceable, a legend in his own time. A classic character who looms slouch hat and shoulders above all others of his kind, he is an inevitable as a guilty conscience, an unseen power that awakens within all of us our most deep-rooted fears of mortal retribution. There has never been a force quite like him." (Jim Harmon, The Great Radio Heroes)

right from the bodies of the victims. Jewelry and bonds are stolen in public places when the victims appear to be attacked by no physical person. The Shadow is blamed for the invisible attacks where a card is left saying 'From the Little Man That Wasn't There'

    A very good Shadow story
What made the experience of listening to Murder Underground the most enjoyable?
A blinding fog starts the story. The mother and son are a corrupt team. Crime runs in the family.

    A cute little mystery.
A nice little mystery. The Shadow beats another bad guy. It had a nice twist in the end. I love the shadow.
A crazy story about a family curse
    Any additional comments?
Theft by deception, theft with the aid of a family curse. Crazy. The story goes in and out of memories which is different characters.

    Very good
    Any additional comments?
The Shadow stories are short and enjoyable but they can be difficult to hear due to the age of the original media. I prefer the stronger voice of Bret Morrison over Bill Johnstone, Bret's voice carries more cleanly across the years of the aging media storage.
Try to listen to these audio stories at home or with some serious noise canceling headphones. It will make the listening time more enjoyable. Stories vary in quality of writing. Pick these up in the sets of audio instead of individuals.

Join hands and the hand must remain joined
Would you consider the audio edition of The Curse of Shiva to be better than the print version?
The séance to contact the spirit world happens and fraud (gasp!) is committed. Omar is the lead.
The Great God Shiva has been angered. Mr John Simmons has been murdered. The Police Commissioner even sits in on a séance to see what happens. The Shadow sits in to solve the case.

    Fingerprints show the perpetrator. Correct?
Would you listen to The Phantom Fingerprints again? Why?
Why does each crime keep showing up with fingerprints of a dead man? How can this be? Unless the man isn't dead. But he is! Twisted story and a great short listen.

A Christmas story with The Shadow
Where does The Stockings Were Hung rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
The dog, the cabbie, the missing persons, theft of a business and a cookie recipe all work out into a mystery that only The Shadow can solve.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Stockings Were Hung?
Margo's hat was called a "Christmas ornament" and Spike says 'Ya gotta have a Christmas tree when ya have a girl in the house.'
    Any additional comments?
I enjoy The Shadow and other old radio programs. They remind me of what my grandparents would have listened to for entertainment. Yes, they can be cheesy but they are simple entertainment and a quick listen.

A problem with the reconstruction work on a church. The workers are claiming the church is haunted. A black robbed monk is claimed to be walking the church. Sound is softer than most episodes but it is not clearer.
