    Publisher's Summary:
The Whistler, Volume 2 contains haunting stories of fate, dramas of crime, deception, and manipulation building to a sudden and shocking denouement, and through it all, the sardonic, mocking laughter of The Whistler!
One of radio's most memorable thriller anthologies, the Whistler's stories revolve around ordinary people, pushed by the pressures of daily life into taking drastic action. Or perhaps a sudden circumstance, an unexpected twist of life's path, suddenly placed these protagonists on a road leading inexorably to their own destruction. Freed, lust, and perfidy of every kind figure in the plots - and when fate inevitably catches up with these unfortunate, driven souls, The Whistler is always ready, at the end, to see that the knife is properly twisted.

"The Whistler" towards the end of it's run.. increasingly hit/miss
Most of these tales are from 1950/51/52 as "The Whistler" crept towards the end of it's run.. the writing and voice acting is increasingly hit/miss. Still 20 CDs with 40 suspense tales is GENEROUS by any standard... truely a huge bucketful of murder and antisocial behaviour. The "surprise" endings can be spotted 22-minutes away.. but still good fun.

The concept was a natural. Circulation soared into the millions. Before long, imitators followed in droves, leading to a new breed of entertainment that survives to this day under the catchall phrase of true crime magazines.

    Release date: 03-09-16
    Publisher: Dreamscape Media, LLC
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
Suspense premiered in 1942 and soon became known for its inventive writing and for casting well-known stars in offbeat roles. In 1947, CBS decided to take a gamble: Suspense was turned into a full-hour Saturday night feature, hosted by actor and occasional star Robert Montgomery. Many of the hour-long shows were movie adaptations, and with the permission of the original writers, several earlier programs were expanded to accommodate the increased length. Having failed to attract a sponsor, however, the experiment ended in 1948, and a couple of months later the show moved back to its cozy Thursday night berth in its earlier half-hour form.
Radio's Outstanding Theater of Thrills would continue to be heard for the next 14 years, closing its final curtain in 1962. This second volume of Suspense contains 10 restored radio broadcasts of the original show.
