    Title: Dragnet, Volume 6
    Author: Jack Webb
    Narrator: full cast, Jack Webb
    Format: Original Recording
Length: 9 hrs and 50 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-03-16
    Publisher: Dreamscape Media, LLC
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
Police procedurals go back long before Dragnet's 1949 premiere - with an especially strong heritage in Los Angeles. Private Investigator Nick Harris presented dramatizations drawn from his own true-life case files as far back as the 1920s, and the Los Angeles Police Department itself collaborated closely with Don Lee Network producer William N. Robson for the long-running 1930s series Calling All Cars. But these formats fell from favor by the 1940s, with the advent of the "hard-boiled dick" genre of crime programs. An ordinary policeman just doing his job had little chance against the legions of smart-mouthed gumshoes parading across the ether during the postwar years.

Length: 4 hrs and 55 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 02-09-16
    Publisher: Radio Archives, LLC
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 4 votes
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
Gerald Mohr stars as Raymond Chandler's hard-boiled gumshoe in The Adventures of Philip Marlowe, a series based on one of the most popular sleuths in the history of crime fiction.
The show first aired in 1947, with Van Heflin in the title role. Chandler disliked the initial incarnation, dubbing it "totally flat". However, in the 1948 revival, Chandler admitted satisfaction, remarking that Mohr's voice "packed personality". Mohr indeed made the role of Marlowe his own, portraying a brash and forceful tough guy who could let fly with the occasional wisecrack. The scripts were equally tough, focusing on hard-hitting action while also showcasing many of the distinguished actors and actresses from Hollywood's Radio Row, including Lawrence Dobkin, Jeff Corey, Betty Lou Gerson, and Harry Bartell.

    Members Reviews:
    Some of Runyon's best
Very entertaining radio drama version of Damon Runyon stories. This volume begins with one of Runyon's best known stories, Little Miss Marker. Actor John Brown does a great job of dramatizing the stories using different believable voices as he narrates. So far as I can tell, these are the complete stories but dramatized rather than read word for word.

Length: 9 hrs and 59 mins

    Release date: 01-15-16
    Publisher: Dreamscape Media, LLC
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
Beginning with Tarzan, the pulp era was full of jungle heroes. Jungle Jim is one of the unique ones. He was not a barely literate, loincloth-clad tree-dwelling wild man but rather Jim Bradley, a great white hunter in the mold of heroes of earlier popular fiction such as H. Rider Haggard's Allan Quatermain and Lord John Roxton from Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, who represented the colonial view of the so-called primitive regions of the globe. This gave him a distinctive difference from your run-of-the-mill jungle man, who often knew little about civilization and was equipped with not much more than a knife in most cases. Also, his stomping grounds were located in exotic Southeastern Asia.
