Title: The Adventures of Frank Race, Volume 1
    Author: Joel Murcott, Buckley Angel
    Narrator: full cast
    Format: Original Recording
Length: 8 hrs and 54 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 12-29-15
    Publisher: Dreamscape Media, LLC
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
Frank Race is a cultured and sophisticated investigator who, in his world travels, encounters equal measures of crime, espionage, violence, and attractive but suspicious women. A dashing combination of Johnny Dollar and James Bond, Race began his professional career as a successful attorney, but, after a stint with the OSS during World War II, he found his former profession to be far too dull and predictable. Adventure had become his goal - and it quickly became his business.
Heard today, The Adventures of Frank Race remains engrossing, action-packed entertainment reminiscent of shows like The Man Called X and Counterspy - Cold War-era series that say as much about the paranoia of the postwar world as they do about their audiences' love of action and suspense.

Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
The Falcon radio series aired from 1943 until 1954. "The Falcon" was an alternate identity for detective Michael Waring. Like the Falcon movies, the radio plots mixed danger, romance, and comedy in equal parts. Each show began with a telephone ringing and Michael Waring, the Falcon, answering the phone. Speaking with a woman whose voice was never heard, Waring would explain that he had an urgent situation he had to deal with. This led into the standard opening, followed by the week's tale of adventure. Often, incompetent police were unable to solve the mysteries without his help.
Waring was billed on radio as a freelance detective who was "always ready with a hand for oppressed men and an eye for repressed women". Berry Kroeger, James Meighan, Les Tremayne, Les Damon, and George Petrie portrayed the Falcon during its radio run.
The 12 episodes included here, which aired in 1950 and 1951, are" "The Case of the Carved Ham", "The Case of the Gangster's Girl", "The Case of the Mighty Muscle", "The Case of the Invisible Thug", "The Case of the Raw Deal", "The Case of the Harried Husband", "The Case of the Stooge's Errand", "The Case of the Puzzling Pinup", "The Case of the Widow's Gorilla", "The Case of the Rich Racketeer", "The Case of the Double Exposure", and "The Case of the Disappearing Doll".

Classic Crime Adventure with a sultry twist
Just finished listening to "Casey, Crime Photographer - Blue Note" released by Radio Spirits.
One of the most intriguing aspects about this particular collection of adventures of Casey, Anne Williams, and head bartender Ethelbert of the Blue Note Cafe is the underlying tone of overt sexuality that is laced throughout each one of the sixteen adventures of Casey and company. Make no mistake - this isn't the overt and open sexuality of the radio version of Gunsmoke where you here the bed springs creaking when Matt Dillon gets out of the bed he was sharing with Miss Kitty. In this collection of Casey adventures, it's an open secret on the airwaves, but a quiet one, you know it's there. The episode "Queen of the Amazons" is the best example of Casey using sexual seduction and a willingness to go all the way in order to solve a mystery. There is even use of the catch phrase, "I hope we'll be real good friends Mr. Casey,if you know what I mean." by the Queen of the Amazons.
Even the episode, "Pick Up," makes the suggestion that Casey has a habit of regularly picking up pretty women for one night stands.
Even though the name of this collection is after the cafe where Ethelbert works, "Blue Note," does seem to take on another meaning, once the sexual bantering between everyone in the series starts.
The best episodes are: "Queen of the Amazons," "Pick Up," "Wedding Breakfast," "After Turkey - The Bill," "Fog," and "The Reunion," and "The Disappearance of Mr. Dizzel."
    Strongly Recommended.
    Five Stars!

    Fabulous fun!
I listen to audio tapes on my 30-minute drive to work. After the thrills and joy of "I love a mystery," I had to have more Morse, and this series is just as exciting and brilliantly done as the former. Almost every episode includes an incident that has me on the edge of my seat, or that causes me to jump in surprise. The script, the acting, the sound effects, the timing--everything is perfect. I can't recommend this series highly enough.

Length: 5 hrs and 21 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-01-15
    Publisher: Black Eye Entertainment
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 3 votes
Genres: Nostalgia Radio, Crime & Mystery
    Publisher's Summary:
Movie star Alan Ladd played Dan Holiday, retired newspaperman turned fiction writer and adventurer extraordinaire. To gain ideas for his books, Holiday placed an ad in the Star-Times newspaper: "Adventure wanted - will go anywhere, do anything - Box 13." It wasn't long before his Box 13 became jammed with adventures galore.
Holiday always had more adventure than he had originally sought because those who responded to his ad never revealed all of their glorious, unusual, and sometimes sinister details until they met in person and the adventure had already begun. Silvia Picker played Holiday's scatter-brained secretary, Suzy. Suzy added touches of humor to the mystery-adventure and nail-biting storylines.
Box 13 was produced by Mayfair Productions, a company run by Alan Ladd and Richard Sandville. The name came from Mayfair Restaurant, which Ladd and Sandville owned during World War II. In addition to producing Box 13, Ladd also wrote some of the scripts.

    A Box of trouble.
I always liked Alan Ladd. This was a great show for him. A writer looking for martial for his novels, places an ad in the newspaper. The ad says he is looking for adventure and will help anyone who answers his ad. Of course this is a recipe for disaster, because he doesn't know what kind kooks will answer his ad. Some of them are good people needing help. But some the others are bad guys wanting to use the writer as a fall guy for their schemes. In one case a serial killer answered his ad. Lads character is probably not the smartest detective on radio, but the show is still very entertaining. I hope they will release more of this show soon.
