An applied manual for self-betterment
Expect Greatness, by John Hawkins, provides some excellent and pragmatic principles for use in excelling in life. In as much as it is motivating to read, the book is not a motivational presentation, so much as a textbook or manual on how to approach life and reach oneâs potential. Hawkins starts off with some very powerful dissections of the process of living, introducing The Four Levels of Life, leading up to greatness. This excerpt is just one of many powerful ones: ââ greatness is not defined by your success but by the success of the people around you.â Other golden rules such as developing oneâs creed, establishing the Why for oneâs life, short versus long-term goals, and so much more, talk to one on a practical and real level and can be used by anyone. The author provides plenty of anecdotes, real-life examples, to illustrate the principles he presents. This is book you can read in a couple hours, and if youâre interested in advancing your life, achieving more than just âsurvivalâ or âsuccessâ according to mediocrity (money), and you want to reach for more, your potential, even greatness, then read the book.

ExpectGreatness is an amazing book for anyone who wants to live a life of excellence! Many proven methods for increasing execution, effectiveness, and excellence. I had the opportunity to read this book last weekend, and truly enjoyed the rich content. John Hawkins with compelling candor and masterful storytelling ability has created a masterpiece.

Everyone wants to stretch out with their lives beyond the ordinary and discover what they can become. We call this "greatness" or exceptionalism. It is my opinion that the primary reason they frequently don't succeed here is that they lack the hope that it is possible for them. They are so stuck seeing themselves as the normal identity the world has given them. Expect Greatness is a great book to help dislodge you from your stuck place in the ordinary. It will help you realize why expecting great things for yourself is entirely reasonable and realistic.
A thought provoking read!
John does an excellent job of giving the reader much to think about. The ideas he points out might seem like common sense but it take work to place these ideas in action. A short but deeply moving read.
