Get Wrecked

One of the world’s most concentrated areas to dive shipwrecks is in a remote island in the Philippines, Coron. Sunk in WWII by American fighter pilots, these ships have sunk relatively recently and therefore, are in great shape to explore. 

In today’s episode, we cover the sinking of these wrecks, as well as what’s involved with diving them. Julia has traveled to the Philippines for the sole purpose of diving these shipwrecks, completing her Open Water, Advanced and Nitrox certifications in Coron to do so.

While most of our shipwrecks stay in the water, the Vasa is a unique exception. Our very own co-host, Colleen, was able to visit the subject of today's podcast, The Vasa. That's right, today's episode features a boat you can actually go see on land.

Hailed "The Glory of Sweden," the Vasa was a state-of-the-art warship of her time, the mid 1600s. After a series of miscommunications sunk her, she was eventually rescued and put on display in Stockholm, Sweden, where you, like Colleen, can go see her!
